"Big, Blond And Beautiful" - Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jhon Travolta From the movie "Hairspray" from 2007 See the other songs from the movie at my chanel Pleas note: I OWNS NO RIGHTS FOR THE PICTURS OR THE SOUNDTRACK OF THE VIDEO!
"They say that white has might and thin is in, well that's just bull! 'Cause ladies, big is back and as for black, it's beautiful!" Undoubtedly my favorite line in the entire song. It's so empowering.
It's a shame this video cuts out the section of the scene where Edna first shows up, that part has some of the funniest lines of the whole movie. I still laugh at "Penny, go home before your mother shoots you" every single time I hear it.
Alexander Kim .... Imagine mistaking being proud of who you are for attacking a certain demographic.... because *_THATS NOT WHAT THIS SONG IS ABOUT. ITS ABOUT BEING PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE NO MATTER WHAT._* Damn.
Alexander Kim It’s cute that you liked your own comment. Also, nobody really chooses to be big unless there’s something wrong with you. I’m not wasting my energy on a troll.
@Alexander Kim She said NO MATTER what your shape or size is. She's relaying her PERSONAL feelings on the song, coming from a skinny white ginger girl, not a black girl. She's not denying anyones rights by saying she loves how the song makes her and others feel proud. Shuddup fam
I love that in the movie you have two kind of moms: Amber's mom who is like "Gasp! Oh Amber, that move is far to dirty!" when she does a tiny rumba move. Seaweed's mom is like "YASS!!! Grind on him, girl! Don't be shy!!!"
Was seriously just thinking the same thing. I mean, I didn't realize it until I specifically came back to this clip to watch the choreography of the background dancers. I mean, 00:57 really caught my attention! But I'm guessing Camilla's Mom is correct with her conclusion. Lmfao everyone is too distracted by Queen Latifah's performance to even notice how suggestive the dance choreography is getting!
Can I just say how I adore the look of disgust on Cristopher Walken's face when Michelle Pfeiffer tells him "I bet you're tired of heavy lifting"? It just screams "How dare you speak like that of my wife!"
Just the moment she starts you can tell he knows _exactly_ what she's up to and he's got no interest because not only does he like big girls, but he loves his wife and can't see himself with anyone else That's a relationship you'd want to be in
Queen L is highly underrated in this film. She has some cracking lines: 'we get anymore white people in here, it'll be a suburb' 'we got more reason to be scared on your street' being two of them. Actual bae through the whole movie. Queen by name for reason, and don't even get me started in Michelle Pfeiffer. TOTAL BEAUTY QUEENS THE PAIR OF THEM
Lydia Wase this came out when the beauty standards were thin white woman, which still is the beauty standard. This was to empower bigger and/ or black women
The most beautiful...hmm. I still can`t decide whose voice is more beautiful, Queen Latifah`s or Skin`s... Well at least i decided on the most beautiful black women (body/face-wise). India, used to be an actress (nsfw) and singer (.. except those thin eyebrows).
What’s I love about this song is that there’s at least one line in the song that any girl can relate to. For me that line is “why sit in the bleachers, timid and afraid, when Edna you look like the whole parade.” I’m not the body type they’re talking about, but I’m shy and reserved. For me looking “like a whole parade” means that I’m a fun, loud and enjoyable person. I just have to break out of my shell.
@karlacastillo8110, My relatable line would be "I offer big love with no apologies, how can I deny the world the most of me?", because yeah, I may not be big or blonde necessarily, but it doesn't mean we're not beautiful.
I know that this movie was made for a more female audience but this song helped me live my fat male self when I was younger. I love this song so much it's the only one that gets me to dance.
I love the Brass Feeling very much. Like honestly. I wish more songs for this feeling had much more Brass wailing in the song makeing your bones shake and rattle.
I'm not black, big, beautiful, or a woman and yet I still feel so bold when I hear this song. What a mood. What a queen. Miss Latifah absolutely murdered this
You know something, the face Wilbur makes when she says "I bet you're tired of heavy lifting...", like he's mad and disgusted and her, just shows how much he loves Edna, no matter what.
@@jamiehartley4218 I totally agree with you, but also, it's his shop, she's the one that has to leave. And it's not always fight or flight - freeze (and faint) are also common reactions to unexpected problems.
@@Rhayra probably didnt k ow what to do either, and is a bit of a push over lol. Im willing to bet he doesn't have women come in his shop chasing him very often
Queen Latifah has always been beautifu too me. yes, she may be big but she dresses so it compliments her body. she's beautiful and confident that she's bigger than what society deems acceptable and she does it with pride. thank you Queen Latifah and Hairspray, for helping me feel good about myself no matter what size i am.
a good bass player knows when to dig in deep with the low notes,,, a good example is at 3:28 during the ending push!!!!! I've been a bassist for over 30 years, even though I play guitar too, bass is my passion! This bass player is pushing the groove but not over doing it!!! Great song and great movie!!
@@em.415 For the dense people in the back she meant "respectively". That's why she put John name first and Michelle second along with Grease 1 then Grease 2. "Respectively".
Bring on that pecan pie! Pour some sugar On it sugar Don't be shy. Scoop me up A mess of that Chocolate swirl. Don't be stingy I'm a growing girl I offer Big love With no apology. How can I deny the world The most of me? I am not afraid to throw my weight around Pound by pound by pound Because I'm Big, blond & beautiful Face the fact It's simply irrefutable! No one wants a meal That only offers the least When girl, we're serving up The whole damn feast Slice me off a piece of that hog head cheese! Take a look inside My book of recipes Now don't you sniff around For something fluffy and light. We need a man who Bring a man sized appetite! I use a Pinch of sugar And a dash of spice! I'll let you lick the spoon Because it tastes so nice! We'll keep in the oven Till it's good and hot Keep on stirring Till you hit the spot! Because I'm Big, blond, & beautiful There is nothing 'bout us that's unsuitable Why sit in the bleachers Timid and afraid When Edna You look like the whole parade They say that white has might And thin is in Well, that's just bull 'Cause ladies big is back And as for black It's beautiful! All shapes and sizes Follow me! Who wants a twig When you can climb a whole tree? Yeah, Yeah Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah Groovy baby Groovy!
Really?! Are you serious? Sorry if that came out mean, but, in Supernatural, there's a character who's nicknamed 'Moose' and he was soulless once. I'm legit freaking out.
Blake Randle well actually, in 1988 John Waters had the idea of creating a movie about a plus size girl bringing difference races together. The original 1988 movie has no songs and the songs we know now are from when Hairspray was first made into a musical on Broadway in 2002. So this is the movie based of the 2002 play rather than the original movie
I've trained.. for.. years.. I've gone out there and I've learned the art of performance doing jobs I dont want to do! But it means I get to wake up every damn morning and say I do what I love for a living... I'm getting paid to do it. Look at me here's my stage. I'm Holly Jervis and you haven't heard anything like me
3 things 1. Queen Latifah is actually my queen and slays my entire existence 2. Tracy's mom is me at every social event 3. WILBUR IS L O Y A L AS HELLLLLL
This is one of the best adaptations of a musical I have ever seen! My favorite parts are when Queen Latifa and John Travolta are in the scenes. Amanda brings the comedy totally as well! I may be biased because I am an old soul.
Chicago and Hairspray are two of the best movie musical of the 21st century (my personal favorites as well) coincidentally, they both had Queen Latifah. She is literally the queen. The whole cast of these two movies defined what it means to star in a movie musical.
There's nothing wrong with feeling a connection with characters. I feel a connection with many fictional characters (not necessarily in this film, but in books), and when I read them, it makes me feel as if I'm not alone.
@@calebnelson3749 She definitely did. I love Jennifer Hudson's powerful voice, but Queen Latifah is better suited to play Motormouth Maybelle. The woman has soul to spare in her voice. Between this song, "I Know Where I've Been" and "You Can't Stop The Beat", I fell in love with Queen Latifah, in a non-stalkery way.
This whole song is amazing, and Wilbur just not taking any of Velma's shit and trying to deter her with funny props while edna is breaking it down upstairs is the icing on the cake
I see this song as being the core of the film; everyone is beautiful no matter their size, shape or skin colour. We're all beautiful and we should never be ashamed of who or what we are :)
Ah yes, the three big women in film, Queen Latifa, Michelle Phiefer, and John Travolta. Haha! Jokes aside: Remember, if there's anything that surpasses boundaries, it's Art, whether it's Food, Song, or Dance, it's not easy to hate after breaking bread, or breaking loose, with someone.
