Big Book of Shadows in the making 

I have my mother's 6 inch cross stitch/ crewel pillows she made and I treasure them. They are in my sacred space.

You could make pockets in the book to store art which is double sided - folks who make junk journals do that all the time. It's a great project.

You may have given me some ideas for when it is time to increase the size of my grimoire. I have many old books with reciepes, articles and the like. I think reusing the cover of the old Oxford is a great idea! So many of them floating around in thrift stores.

Currently too upset over my missing rescue cat - now 4 weeks - but this was so very inspirational and I am going to look out for a big book. Use black gesso for the cover - amazing stuff. Take out the sewn signatures so no need to break the spine. You take them out in different places throughout until it is a manageable size. Your watercolours are so beautiful, you could do a book or sell them in your shop. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The spine problem might go away once you've thinned out the dictionary pages a bit. I use old encyclopedia Britannica's in this way. I always start prepping the book by keeping p1, ripping out ps2-3 (or even more), then sticking p1&4 together to make a slightly thicker page to hold artwork etc. Then repeat! That removes about 2/3 of the bulk, which then gets added back when I do my mixed media pieces. Hope that helps.

Great idea for those old dictionaries. I think you're supposed to remove pages from the original book to start. That makes room for all the extra you glue in. @Treasurebooks has an awesome video on breaking down old books for This.

We have tons of dictionaries in our house, too many perhaps, and it’s funny because our largest is one I rescued from the trash as well 😂 The cover has turned out really nicely!
