Big Boss vs Solid Snake vs Raiden | WHO WOULD WIN? 

BEFORE YOU COMMENT - This video is over a year old and I still get the same comments so I’ll say this here in case you want to be one of those guys. The point regarding Sam’s Quick Draw is that it was able to blitz both the start of Rising Raiden AND Armstrong; the game's final boss who contends with Raiden at his strongest. Even if Raiden doesn’t have Sam’s Quick Draw, all that proves is that his normal sword swings are slower than Sam’s ability. Raiden’s statement saying Snake is unstoppable would therefore mean he thinks Snake would be able to react to the Quick Draw or just beat Sam before he could even use it, which would both inform Snake’s superiority to Raiden. The argument that Raiden is just a fanboy or biased towards Snake doesn’t hold up. For starters, like I state in the video, Raiden knows the ins and outs of Snake as a fighter; he’s walked in his shoes and has knowledge of most of his feats in scaling. Even in the game itself, Kev jokes that Raiden’s a Snake fanboy, but then immediately concedes that Raiden just knows Snake so well, making my interpretation more so consistent with what’s stated in the game. It’s also just a really weird position to me; most protagonists in fiction are admirable and also have in-universe statements about their prestige. Is Captain America not the greatest soldier in the MCU just because people like him? Is anyone in Dragon Ball biased when they call Goku a good fighter just because he’s a nice guy who’s saved the world? Regarding the whole feats vs statements thing; feats supersede statements when there is a CONTRADICTION between the two. So if Zack Snyder says his Superman can’t fly, that’s an impossible interpretation to maintain because we see him fly in the movie. Raiden saying Snake is unbeatable compared to what he’s seen can not be proven to be impossible, you’d need some anti-feat to prove Snake can’t scale to Raiden; there are none. Raiden throwing both Metal Gear’s has been calculated to require far less energy than his tanking of EXCELSUS' destruction. Even if he threw the pyramid of Giza above the clouds it’d be less of an impressive feat (~100 trillion joules VS ~700 trillion joules) Using this formula… Throwing a Person above the Clouds Cloud height is usually 2000 m. Formula is (close to earth): initial speed = sqrt(2*9.81*peak height). So in this case sqrt(2*9.81*2000) = 198 m/s …using the weight of the pyramid and 2.5 times the speed of the EXCELSUS toss. More kinetic energy is produced via blunt force than lifting or throwing something; tanking a dumbbell falling on your face is more impressive when comparing who can endure getting hit harder than just doing a curl. Peace Walker is stated to be able to tank a nuclear war, the Metal Gear’s are stated to get stronger over time, Gray Fox tanks having a Metal Gear blow up on top of him in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on the MSX. Snake is then able to beat and bloody up that same Fox. Nuclear bombs are consistently City level, the best feat in Rising (Raiden tanking Excelsus’ destruction) is Town Level. Meaning Snake, with his bare hands, can output an excess of energy found within nuclear bombs. Look up the difference between Attack Potency and Destructive Capacity before replying to that btw. So even based on feats, Snake has the feats to support him being in Raiden’s tier if not just being quantifiably far more powerful. People have complained that my posting of my Discord server is plugging it? I feel that Voice Chat is just a superior and an optimal method for debating these types of things. Scheduling a debate, going back and forth with someone in real time while all of our points are exchanged in typically around an hour's time is far better than sending paragraph after paragraphs for months at a time (I’ve seen it happen). This opinion is shared by many prolific power scalers on RU-vid such as SethTheProgrammer and KeyIssues who I both consistently collaborate with to this day (humble flex). The reason that the Murasama didn’t cut through Armstrong when Raiden used it is because he wasn’t using the quick draw. He actually threw away the sheath, making the quick draw impossible.

Okay just remember solid snake in mgs4 is physically a 70 year old, imagine him in the prime we barely saw but know existed... great video though!

There's a few things I'd like to point out: MGR Raiden can deflect bullets, and his ninja run in MGR is faster than the running speed of Old Snake. Also, while he is really tough, Snake couldn't tank a HF blade hit. And there's no way Old Snake is stronger than MGR Raiden, because he probably couldn't pick up a Metal Gear. You have to remember that while Snake has done some VERY impressive things, MGS4 Snake is... Well, old

The one and only Solid Snake. Hero of Outer Heaven, Zanzibarland, Shadow Moses... The list goes on. In terms of pure combat ability, he’s one of the greatest soldiers I’ve ever seen. But it’s not only that... He knows what’s right, and he just gets it done. Period. No one can stop him.

Raiden is insanely powerful and skilled, but people seem to forget Snake and Big Boss each went against supernatural + cybernetic beings and came out on top despite each being merely human. Although Gray Fox's exoskeleton is most definitely inferior to Raiden's suits, he still had superhuman capabilities, yet Snake as of MGS1 was capable of defeating him in hand-to-hand combat. Snake during MGS4 (Physically weakest state) was able to keep up with Vamp, who could fight against Raiden and even get the upper hand on him. There are many more opponents of this caliber Snake has defeated in combat. He has faced Fox Hound, the B&Bs, Various Metal Gears, Venom Snake, and Big Boss himself. As far as I remember, Snake's only outright defeat was against Fortune... but the situation was entirely stacked against him. He had no method of landing a hit on her, and she was using a Railgun. They were also in an open arena. I would have called bullshit if he got out of that no problem. Raiden is obviously more powerful than Snake, but so were most of Snake's major contemporaries. That didn't stop him from defeating and killing most of them when thrown into combat against them... That being said, Raiden would probably be the most powerful humanoid opponent Snake has ever gone against if they fought. Snake would need to bring in his A-game just to win.

I have a question about 44:38 Didn’t QuickDraw come from Sams swords sheathe not the sword itself? If I remember correctly Raiden doesn’t use that in his fight with Armstrong.

I have a few issues 1. Raiden losing to vamp happened when Radian was still relatively inexperienced so comparing rising's version of him to snake and saying snake is more skilled cuz he did something a less experienced Raiden couldn't is a flawed point 2. just because Raiden says snake is unstoppable doesn't mean he can do all the same things Raiden can, characters can be wrong or it could just be a complementary exaggeration, and without evidence proving it to be the case, it cannot be assumed that Snake is a strong, or durable as Raiden as without that, Raiden's words are just those, words.

Some of this feels extremely inconsistent

i feel like the argument you made where raiden couldn't slice and dice armstrong in ripped blade mode shouldn't be there cuz its gameplay. it would be pretty anti-climacteric if armstrong went out like a bitch after raiden cuts him up because the nanomachines didn't harden fast enough. and sam cut armstrong's arm in a cutscene and raiden pierced armstrong's heart in a cutscene or and ending QTE and when you gave evidence based on raiden's codex, it really seems like hyperbole given that raiden fanboys snake. still a good comparison tho

just a side note on raiden and sam, its really technique vs power/speed IMO like speed is good, but raiden is useing a self made style vs a man trained in a style that has seen hundreds of years of use and improvement

The Sam feat makes no sense due to the fact that Sam used a Hilt that shoots out the sword at very high speed which would also allow him to cut off the arm raiden yes in his ninja mode can slice fast but shooting out some thing and slicing down some things are completely different

It depends on which version of Raiden. If it's MGS2 Raiden, then either one of the two have a chance to crush him. If this is MGRR Raiden, especially the variant that went up against Armstrong, well, neither Snake nor Big Boss will stand a chance.

Quickdraw does come from sams sheathe. It shoots the sword out of it like a projectile, sam just directs the sword letting the energy that launched it flow freely.

Why didn't you talk about their movement/travel speed? Being equal or relative in combat and reaction speed doesn't matter if your opponent can move much faster than you or how you can be fast enough to react to something but not fast enough to avoid the attack. You did say it power and skill doesn't matter if you get blitzed. Thanks for proving that they have FTL combat and reaction speed, I can use that when someone wants to say MGS is subsonic - hypersonic in speed.

We're talking about two Spec Ops guys vs a cyborg ninja that can suplex a Ray and cut it in half. I think the winner's clear here. Especially if Raiden's in Ripper Mode.

the whole 44 minute to 46 minute mark is wrong and not taking in context. Jetstreams attack is so fast because of the sheathe he uses. When Raiden used it he was just swinging it. Also Jetstream was fighting a weaker Armstrong or atleast Armstrong was not fighting as hard against Sam as his final battle against Raiden. Also just a note. When defeated the robot dog analyzed the Jetstream Sams cyberog implants were at a minimal.

If snake is like city block town level potency, why.. is any metal gear a threat? Why can't he just punch it and make the thing crumple if not outright turn the thing into a fine powdered mist? Their armor isnt that powerful, rockets, homing missles, and c4 have consistently been used to destroy them. The fact that snake cant even put a dent in one means he's less powerful than previously mentioned explosives.

Just because BB was willing to get even stronger and the fact that he would never give up, doesn't really justify that 60 yo BB was on equal footing with prime Solid Snake. Age catches up no matter what one does. Even a superhuman can't beat the effects of time. Now that this is out of the way, I would like to know how Prime Solid Snake would beat a Prime Big Boss in a CQC duel. From the way I see it, BB would win most of the times unless we count the fact that Snake has an IQ of 180 and can somehow outsmart him (Since we don't know how smart BB is). All the rest in the video is reasonable and I 100% agree :)

You don't need relativic speeds to dodge laser beams you only need to be faster than the aiming arm/actuator and charging capacitors. Otherwise it would mean that the average cat able to catch a laser dot moves at relativic speeds. Same with dodging bullets, you only need to be faster than the aiming gun.

New to MGS scaling, where do Solidus and Liquid fall in these 3? I assumed Solidus would be above Liquid quite blatantly due to him stating he is as well as Big Boss off of being a perfect clone (meaning equal stats) but with a super suit on top.
