This is awesome. Big bowls of everything. I like braised eggs and set meals. I also like the lady owner's "Are you hungry?" slogan tee shirt. Yes, I am hungry! 😄
Nice portion of rice, I find that most restaurants give small rice portions causing me to purchase an extra side of rice to get the correct portion of entre to rice.
In most Japanese diners of this type serve you a huge bowl of rice. Not many are small. We have famous saying in Japan when someone is getting obese; stop eating in Japanese diner. Yeah because they give you so much food if you eat there everyday you risk becoming obese.
The owner is the type of grandma would asked her grandchildren have they ate yet? And answer is no then she would give them a big bowl of rice and everything else on the menu.
I live in America and notice that the Korean and Japanese restaurant only give a small bowl of rice to eat with other dishes in family meal set while Thai and Vietnamese restaurant give a big bowl enough for 2-3 peoples
Well your observation isn’t great then. Try going to Japan and not just by watching RU-vid. I live in Japan and I’m Japanese. Most Japanese diners give so much food and rice is bottomless, meaning you can ask for second or third bowl free of charge though it’s rarely asked as it’s a huge bowl. If you don’t know this you don’t know actual Japanese food or food culture of Japan. Those chain restaurants that are in Tokyo or major cities aren’t at all representative of Japanese diner food. They’re chains for reasons; stingy and not very tasty. Btw do not mix Korean and Japanese we don’t even eat the same type of food. Very different food we eat and our cuisines are vastly different. This is why Japanese doctors will stop you going to these Japanese diner type restaurants when you are becoming obese and advise you to lose weight. They give you so much rice. Btw the type of rice they eat in South Asia isn’t at all the same type of rice we eat in Japan. You are Asian but you don’t know much about Asia.
It’s normal…in Japan, everyone cuts like this. My mom does and so do I. It’s customary to cut Tofu on hand. It’s the best way to cut tofu and we prepare miso soup like this everyday for dinner. Every mom in Japan cuts tofu like this.
Being a Central American. I love to see other small and developing countries take on the most of fundamental grain in the world. My biggest regret is I will never be able to taste what I see. But I can at least imaging.
Do they not teach you world geography and basic history? By your comment, it looks like schools in Central America are very much failing. Miserably actually. Who says Japan is a developing country? How ignorant. Central America is very much of a developing region mostly with undeveloped countries that’s just a fact. They don’t teach you this either? You must be projecting about your own country it seems. Btw Japan is twice the size of UK and twice the population also. Not at all small. Are you not aware Japan is the third largest economy in the world? Such an ignorant comment. Wow. Where are you from Mexico? In Mexico you can’t even drink tap water. You would get sick. Yeah that’s an undeveloped country.
I like to follow Korea's restaurants on RU-vid, and all of them are committed to safety using masks, hand jumps, cooking and cutting tools, and they are wonderfully professional, but this restaurant is strange because the Korean people are committed and keen on these things.
lol this is NOT Korean restaurant or restaurant in Korea. It’s Japan and Japanese diner. katsudon is not Korean. You know how small South Korea is?! 1/4 of Japan. Their economy is even smaller 1/5th. Two countries are nothing similar. Stop being so ignorant. Ridiculous really. And they’re speaking Japanese. Try going to South Korea diner. They don’t wear gloves either. Yeah if the West, they wear gloves yet they touch their nose and hair with gloves and touch food. And None of Michelin starred restaurants prepare food with gloves on. Middle easterners are often so ignorant. Not surprisingly they lead extremely archaic life. And South Korea is not as developed as Japan. You don’t know that either I bet.
