The thing i love about Morgans, is there is always a Morgan in all price ranges that anyone can enjoy. The toned versions have so much character.

Except for the few rare dates and mint marks! 1895,1893 CC in m8nt state grades!1893S I believe is one! But for the most part they can be obtained relatively easy in most gradeds,save the highest of grades 67 and above,even common dates can get pricey!

Yes they do! I've got several full color auction catalogues I acquired from a friend,some of the most beautifully toned examples of U.S. coinage you've ever played your eyes on! Love to look at them on rainy days and just drool! Closest I'll get to many of the mint state 67++ graded examples in them! But dreaming is free!

I agree, I don’t understand how NGC deemed the ‘98 cleaned. However, I do agree that it is not a PL coin. I think we differ on what we define as PL or DMPL...I believe you tend to be a tad liberal when you assign PL or DMPL to your coins. However, love your channel. Love ‘grading’ the coin myself before you reveal the ‘professional’ grade.

You asked for opinions, so here's my 3-cent piece. I'm just a hack... 1880-S MS62 PL - close call. Should be a 63 1881-P MS63 - good call 1881-P MS63 - good call 1880-S MS66 - A really nice coin with nice toning 1881-S MS65 - A really nice coin. Almost PL on reverse. 1900-O MS63 - A really nice coin. Crack out and regrade 1882-S MS63 - ho hum 1882-S MS65 - A really nice coin. Wow. 1882-S MS66 - A really nice coin. 1883-O MS64 - Nice toning on reverse. Crack out and regrade 1884-O MS64 - Nice gold tone on the reverse and a little bit on the obverse. 1885-O MS62 - Nice edge toning. Sad about that fingerprint on its face. Tough call. 1885-O xxxx - A really super nice coin. Cleaned, huh??? Crack this out and regrade 1885-O MS63 - Nice edge toning. Crack out and regrade 1885-O MS63 - Very nice fields. Nice reverse toning. Crack out and regrade 1886-P MS63 - Kind of dull obverse. Reverse tone kind of ho-hum. Good call 1898-P xxxx - Nice fields. Nice edge toning with PL. Cleaned??? Crack out and regrade 1890-O MS62 - Nice PL fields. Bad call. I'd crack out and regrade 1888-O MS63 - Clean fields. Nice gold reverse tone. I'd crack out and regrade 1887-P MS63 - Cobalt reverse tone. Ho Hum

Oh man you made my day with all those Morgan dollars! I love the 1883 O personally. I'd be as happy with the first 1882 S at MS65 as I would with the second at MS66. There's no question in my mind that the 1885 O is undergraded at MS 63. I think I'll have to rewatch this video too, though this one will be for the volume of Beautiful Morgans. Really great video and nice coins for sure. Take a look at the "Obv Cleaned" coin again and really look at the cheek. The cheek has a series of several fine parallel hairlines when you get it at the right angle and lighting. Examine that cheek closely at many different angles and you will be able to see them. That is the only area I saw that looked cleaned. It almost looks like what some people might term as a "Slider" in the very beginning stages? If I am using the term correctly. I can see them at 16:27. Keep those great videos coming!
@jamesgoss1860
@jamesgoss1860 3 года назад
With the issues I've seen from graders and typos or placing the wrong coin in the wrong slab, who's to say they actually mean "Obv Cleaned" in that second one. Maybe they meant "Obv Scratched". Plus it wouldn't make sense for a dipped coin to get obverse only cleaned, both sides would have it.

Is it super common for coins to be struck twice? Like at 10:30 the clearly a second eye infront of her face about 10voclock about 1/8th inch NW. I know you have to tell them what what vams.. etc before grading or pay for them to search varietys. But im fairly new in coin collecting about 3 years and i see wheat pennys struck on indian heads. I have a 1962 d wheat that was struck on a 1776 pine tree. A 1902 o VAM 26A i know this is going to sound nuts, but you can see stars date and outline of 1795 flowing hair obv an rev. Im the type if hubter that looks for vdb along edge of every wheat penny have 🕵 its paying off. Kindof if your interested in seeing pictures let me know. I do have alot of coins took years to find these but would they just a regular really dark toned 1962 D wheat and 1902 o vam26a? Or does that add any value? Sorry for the book. 😆 love the chanel! Nice 1915 buffalo 😉✌

I've recently bought numerous coins from a collection! Unfortunately the gentleman's father liked things bright and shiney! Let's take the nearly complete Indian head cent collection for example,many would've gone prooflike strikes,like most of them! All were dipped,only exceptions being the 1873 closed 3 variety,with just beautiful cartwheel luster,and that can't be faked! Probably a good mint state 64++ being conservative,also 1890 to 1895 all have great luster and are red brown ! The other crying shame was the 1908S and 1909S that he decided needed to be bright orange in XF grade!
