Big Boy 4014 Smokestack Hood/Smoke Deflectors 

While I was watching the video when Big Boy was going though Donner Pass I saw Big Boy has his smoke deflaters again! I was like yes!!!!!

It's kinda cool seeing the smoke billowing from the tunnel entrance after a trains been through

Watching it go out of the tunnel for the first time is amazing to see 👍😁

Damn that is cool. I I bet the Berkeley environmentalist are having a bird about all that steam and smoke coming off the locomotive. Too bad. The majority rules. We love it!

I wish that Canadian Pacific, or Canadian National had BIG steam power like that. That's one thing l envy from American railroads.

If you can find it, watch the interview with the crew at Roseville. One of the things they mentioned was that in going through the tunnels they had to take it easy to minimize steam blasting up at the top of the tunnel, where soot and crud has been accumulating ever since the last steam engines came through. They didn’t want to essentially power-wash/steam clean all that gunk loose and have it fall on the train.

You would think the fireman would have trimmed back the fuel before entering the tunnel for the crew and passengers to breath. Big boy is not going to run out of steam in the length of a tunnel. Other tunnel videos show less smoke.

There's a lot of oil on the cylinders.

I know this is about their smoke deflectors but I love how the brass shines on the front of the cylinders.
