I just found your channel! I love ❤️ it! Tyvm from Canada! Ps I can understand you perfectly and now I am addicted to your channel! This is soooo cool! Merci beaucoup!!
Wow !! I'd never seen a live squid before, they're kinda pretty; and those huge eyes are something else!! Good on you for letting the little ones go....
Did anyone see the BIG squid the seal brought up at 11:00? you can see it floating in the water, it's right in front of him as he puts his line in the water.
I thought "HERO TURNS UP" meant Dave Standing came in a different boat and started slaying monster calamari... It seemed very much like he was already on THAT boat...
I've been fishing off the west coast of Canada my entire life, and I've never seen a seal upside down like that. If you've never tried squid jerk, give it a shot. Great!
when you see a seal with his pectoral fin out of the water like that it's resting and he will leave fin/flipper out to help him cool down after hunting
Same reason many people fish for other species for sport, but he said in another comment that they had already caught enough to eat for the day but the action was so hot they wanted to keep fishing.
Aussies aren't that hard to understand if you really pay attention. One thing he said that caught me off guard was when he referred to large squid as mega cephs. I assume that was in reference to the fact that a squid is a cephalopod. But I had never heard that expression before. I really like how gently he treated the ones he released. He obviously respects his quarry and for that he has my admiration!
It's nice to see how people catch squid in different parts of the world. I grew up catching squid and I've always enjoyed it so much. You may enjoy my channel. I have a couple of videos of how we catch and clean squid in Newfoundland. Seane Rowsell
Best I ever did was four in one cast. get them off an old wharf on an incoming tide. Surf caster with balloon and large sinker, four jigs in between, cast across the good ground and retrieve, this is probably better for shallower waters.
Ialso catch and release squidbto save handeling them just twist the jig upside down and most times thry just let go and fall off back into the briney waters
fishing_ Victoria.. sorry but in Europe the longer arrow type we call squid and the round type we call cuttlefish. Different oceans different types different names. great video
