It is time for a change. I am starting over. I will continue to use the original cabin, but going forward I am going to be building a new dovetail cabin homestead that is a little more easily accessible.
I am excited for the journey ahead and look forward to sharing it with you.
Check out ‪@OnBeaverCreek‬ and logdovetailjig.com for plans and instructions on building with dovetail jigs.
Check out ‪@DovetailTimberworks‬ for information on timber framing and timer framing techniques.
Thanks for watching!

Hola amigo.

Go Jonathan go man !! Thanks for the update ! Very excited for you my friend ! And I totally agree with your mindset ! I’ve learned that A: the out buildings are the most important for the reasons you mentioned for sure ! B: we can both build but rather than remembering tricks and things you’ve learned in the past during a new build isn’t the best way to do it. The skills are there and I’ve learned that smaller projects leading up to a bigger build with bring those thoughts and skills back to the front of the thought process where they need to be. Neither of us build daily but we have the knowledge and skill set so bring those things back to forefront with some smaller projects is absolutely the best way ! In my opinion. Take care and really looking forward to following along as always ! Hope you have fun in Nepal

Hi Johnathan. Something to consider on your outbuildings. They say build bigger than you need because you will need it. Again, Something to consider. Looking forward to this new building adventure!! Best to you.

Looking forward to watching this new project, the gap between the timbers being an inch wide, I’m about half done on my log home with filling every log gap with a product from Canadian Log Home Supply out of ON, they have a product called Energy Seal used with a foam backer, I’ve used it on a couple of log homes, they sell all the equipment required to apply it, it holds up to the worst weather conditions even at -40 it never cracked with log movement stays pliable and doesn’t peel off, its not cheap but well worth the money in the long term. Good luck on the new project.

Very exciting! It will be a lot of fun to start the training process with someone who has the experience you already do! This is going to be fun. Congratulations on the start of a new build.

I am really looking forward to watching this build!! So excited to see what you do differently with the layout and whatnot. Its funny because you act like building a whole new homestead is no big deal 😂 How long will you be in Nepal? That sounds like an amazing adventure 👍 Thank you for sharing all of this with us ❤

Great plan and good luck .. can you tell us more about the big project the house such as the size, style of construction such as dovetail (my favorite) and is it near the road as to mitigate the challenges you have with current location of your cabin. Greeting from Kuwait

I was thinking about your chinking the 1" gap on your cabin and many others that I have watched. What if you ran your skill saw down the center of the bottom side of the log with a 1/2" saw cut depth to drop in a pre cut piece of wire rigid wire mesh. It would make it simpler and quicker for chinking.

My opinion. I think you should spend your time and energy on the drive way. The two low spots just need bridges, as simple or as complex as you want. Building another house will require more time and work than the driveway, again my opinion. I’ll enjoy your videos either way. Good luck.
