I feel this so much. We just moved to a small town in Arizona and any homeschool groups are pretty far from us. I did find a local park group but I also have a 7 and 2 year old and my 2 year old makes a lot of our outings more difficult unfortunately 😔the move has been so great for us but our homeschool is definitely still adjusting!

I am new to your videos and I just wanted to say what a blessing they are! I just watched like 4 in a row. My goodness. Your grace and humbleness and care in your words... the way you invite us in to your journey really is like sitting down with a friend and I love your insight. You helped me feel a little less lonely and a little more seen and encouraged even though I don't even really know you. Anyway, I just wanted to share some of that love back to you. The Memoria Press Enrichment programs (they have Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade) are everything I wanted Five in a Row (flop for us too!) to be. Picture books, crafts, science & nature, art & music, poetry, bible... all themed together.
We are in texas , amd today is a beautiful day. We did our schooling outside and now I'm preparing a lunch for a picnic at the park. So I'm watching this as I prep and pack things up. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I am currently 4 months pregnant and this season has been a little different and more relaxed. I've learned God sometimes makes us slow down and find joy in our seasons. Praise to the most high for that. Your words really encourage me and remind me I'm not the only homeschooling mama going through this... so blessed. Thank you and will definitely be praying for you and your family, I love your updates as you have helped me in my homeschooling journey with my little ones.
I can relate so much to your season of life with lots of sit down time for momma. My kiddos are also at the stage of still needing all individual attention which takes up so much of my day. It's hard to fit all those "extras" in. I was literally shaking my head in agreement and saying "mmhmm" as you were describing your day.
Lol! Yes! We are never as alone as we think! I keep reminding myself.... it's just a season. We can get to the fun stuff a little later. Enjoy the one on one time. ❤️
I have had the SAME experience with Five in a Row!!! We have these amazing weeks/books and I'm totally in love with it, then the next week is a total flop and I shelf it because I feel like I don't know how to use it. I wish I could embrace it and figure it out because the good weeks have some of our best homeschool memories ever, but the weeks that are a flop are so discouraging.
I always love when you share your heart. I can relate to so much you shared. We are in our 3rd year of driving 1.5 hrs one way for our CC community. It is hard- the drive alone is so hard ❤️
My heart broke when you were tearing up. I've had that same situation where you think, "what's wrong with me, why are my kids acting like this". I have to admit I was a bit selfish in placing my thoughts in the wrong person. Basically me instead of them. You were so right in leaving the coop knowing your kids needed sleep. Sleep is so important it will definitely change my kids attitude. Praying for you and hope your kids shine for the Lord everyday!
Yes like someone else said, use during certain times of the day or for phrases you use often. I always would be saying. Please set the table. My kids seemed to listen better when I asked them to do something I Spanish and I said it so often they learned it quickly. TalkBox mom has themed boxes so maybe the kitchen them (put away dishes, wash your dishes etc) or school themed box. PLUS Once you have access to the app, you get lifetime access. You can save your favorite phrase and native Spanish speakers say them so you all can listen even in the car and repeat them together.
Oh MY MY! We are seriously in the slump. Here in NY this month's weather has been bipolar: 50ish one day, 30 something another, snow the next day, then rain, rain, and wind. Sheesh...it is really a drag. I needed that bit of encouragement as we are trudging along and hoping better weather is ahead soon. :)

Hi there! So glad to see you back. I have a suggestion as far as learning Spanish. The Pimsleur language program is really awesome! My family and I all speak Spanish but we have some really close friends who are from Japan. They have been learning Spanish on their own and they are doing amazing! Long story short we decided we would learn Japanese in hopes to better communicate with them, as well as to be be ready for a future Japan trip. The nice thing about the program is that it involves a lot of listening to conversations and responding when asked, they have other features like a coach to help with pronunciation. I told our friends about the program to further help them with their Spanish and they love it as well. Hope that helps 😀
My oldest gets frustrated when she doesn’t get things (like how you described your daughter with the piano app). She was always so frustrated with the beeping noises when she messed up on the free typing websites. That’s why I decided to try TGTB typing with her this year and it is working so well for her! She loves it!
Wow. That big change in your life feels like ours. We have been leaning on the Lord on if we should move or not, and everytime we look it feels like all the doors open for us there. The Lord will always open the right doors for your (and our family)!
I got a little emotional with you at the end. My season of life is HARD as well. I can hardly make it to homeschool PE once a month let alone a CoOp once a week. My 4 kids are between 7 months to 7 years old and it is exhausting. I have looked into CC but I know there is no way I can make it work for us in this season of life. Thank you for the update. I feel I can always relate to your videos!
Enrolling my kids in sports classes really helped me. When one is in their 30-60 minute class I work with one child in the car. Then the next one goes in and I work with the other. I also time it during my youngest nap time. It really helps to save time and get that independent time for subjects. The. The kids are tired so it’s time to eat then their tired for the day.
We will be adding Spanish this year too ! My first grader has been begging so we are going to try the Spanish in masterbooks online class . It’s family style so my plan is for her and my kindergartner and mom and dad to all join !
We moved about a year ago and are just now getting back to what feels like a "normal" routine. I have 5 kids about the same age and the struggle is real trying to make things work in a different location/community each time you move.
We ended up incorporating more typing after my daughter completed all her handwriting books. It sounds like you made the best decision for both you and your kids in regards to CC community. I hope it goes well being your own little family community at home! 🤗💕
@@PursuingPeace we’re doing well. Soaking in our time with my husband. We have some family coming to visit us over the next couple months, so that will be fun! There’s a little community of homeschoolers on base, so we’re hoping to plan some field trips together. Looking forward to spring and the gorgeous cherry blossoms. 🤗💕
I feel this with never seeming like enough time. Out of my four, only two are school aged (first grade and pre-k). The others are 3 and 10 months. The little bit of school with the older two, specifically the first grade, plus managing the toddler and baby has my head spinning some days. I have great plans for extras and then they don’t always work because the time just disappears. You also had me crying there at the end. The feeling of hearing your child(ren) are struggling behaviorally at any given moment can feel so defeating and overwhelming. I had some of that recently with my kids, and it just can leave you feeling awful. You’re doing amazing though as are your kids! There’s been a lot of changes with moving and all. I’m excited for this new co-op for your family!

I just spied my TGTB Typing book the other day and was like oh yeah… 🥴 we sold our house and moved during our school year so it’s been a rough one along with curricula that hasn’t worked for us it kinda feels like a failure of a homeschool year. I was so excited to see this video from you today! I loved hearing all your updates. We are a CC family too. We started when my oldest two (of 4) were ages 6 and 4. We did CC with a community for four years before taking a 3 year break. My oldest is 7th grade this year and I wanted to try Challenge with her. It has been a PERFECT fit for her and I am elated about that. I decided to enroll my 5th grader in Foundations and for various reasons, we too decided to not go back after the Christmas break. I hope to put her in Ch A in two years. I hope your family has adjusted well to the new co-op that is close by! That does sound so much better than driving over an hour for CC! We do CC memory work at home even if not in community and that works well for us. I hope it's going well for you too. I have always realized the importance of reading books with my children but even more so now. We do math and LA and then read books and go over memory work. There is just not enough time in the day for me to be able to add in science & history curriculum and I have found that it is just not needed at the elementary ages. You are a doing a phenomenal job with your kids.

@@PursuingPeace They can still definitely do Challenge even if they haven’t been in community for Foundations. The Challenge program for CC was actually created first and then Foundations was created later. Since Avi is only 3rd grade maybe you will have moved again and will be closer to a community when she is Ch A age! 💕 Savor these days and this new season. Your family is so sweet and you are just a gem of a Mama.
Mama I see how weary you are in this video and I hope this month will be a turning point for you! I just found your channel a few weeks ago and binge watched most of it. I have kids 7, 5, 1 and 1 on the way and am a military spouse too. I relate so much to the issues you started having with CC. I can't keep the toddler happy in situations like that and I feel it's so unfair to the older kids but it's unfair to expect her to sit around too. My oldest can act out sometimes in enrichment programs and sports and it can be so discouraging but I take it as a sign we just need to take a break. This season will pass and things will be so much easier again soon!
I found out that most public libraries offer a free membership or access to some of the foreign language apps. Mine uses Rocket Language and we get a free subscription for each library card!
This is my 9th year homeschooling and my first year using five in a row with my little ones. I'm going to suggest that five in a row has not worked well for you simply because you have too many other things you are trying to manage. It's one of those curriculum that you need to get into a good groove to use it and that is really hard when you are juggling a lot of other things. I've also skipped some of the books because they just were not interesting to me and so I thought they probably wouldn't be to my children either. I do really like it and if I had all littles I would probably use it as our main curriculum. But next year I will have kids ranging in age from pre-school to high school and I don't think I will be able to manage five in a row at that point.
And yes- I’m another Five in a Row dropout. Once in a while we could make a story work. But most weeks they were total failures. The minis will green go better than the manuals. You are not alone!
Check out the book “Bible Made Easy for kids”. I bought it for my 8 and 10 year old daughters and they can do it independently. It’s less “curriculumish” and more just of a way to break down the Bible. They read it in conjunction with their actual Bible.
I can tell you as a military family my kids don't like change. Add a move, new community, new set rules. Kids just don't do well. I'll pray for your littles to adjust.
