I've shared one video so far on our family cabin in northern Michigan and our plans to update this space. This cabin is so dear to me, and holds so many special memories and although it has been a lot of work, I have been so excited to update it and take you along step by step.
So far a lot of the work in the cabin has been cleaning and organizing, but in today's video I get to decorate with all of the thrifted vintage lake decor finds! I hope you enjoy friends - be sure to let me know what you think in the comments!

Love all your garage sale, thrift, and FB Marketplace finds. I have found home decor and furniture for my house from garage sales and thrift stores for decades, probably 90 percent of my home. Not only do you save a ton of money, it's more fun!

I love this! You did an amazing job. You updated this precious little lake cabin, but in such a way as to honor what it is, a quaint family lake cabin. You didn't go crazy with all new, fancy furnishings, and over- done nautical decor. Your eye and use of thrifted and gifted second- hand items were done with perfection. You could be a set designer. You really pulled together a cohesive new look for the cabin. So pretty! And great job to your husband and boys for their help. You have such a sweet family. ❤

We live in the Uk but have a holiday cottage in France, very rustic, I have used a garden hoe and a long handled synth for curtain poles, everyone loves them xx☺️

How adorable is this cabin. Love it all. "Gingham" is also my favorite color. If it's gingham it doesn't really matter what color I love it. Blues, Greens, Beiges are my favorite to collect. Red for Christmas is nice too.

Absolutely love how you put this cabin reno and decor together! I love that blue checkered chair and sailboat print!! Those cabinets came out so nice!! What if you hung the sailboat print in the living room/dining room on the empty wall on the right side of the fireplace? With an art lamp above it perhaps, abd it could be somewhat lined up horizontally with the TV, maybe mount the tv on a stud? Although it looks so great the way you have it, but if you hung the sailboat print on the other side it wouldn’t be totally lined up unless tv was mounted? Or maybe you could put an antique mirror on that empty wall as well. Anyways love how you decorate totally inspires my decor and thrifting choices! 💖

Loved watching you do the cottage out, and it looked lovely with all the new touches you'd made. I personally thought you'd done well with the units you built either side of the fireplace, really good idea, and turned out beautifully, also good idea to move the t.v. on to there. I also liked that little unit in your entryway what a load of character that has, just adorable. Wow you are so lucky ,to have a cabin, not sure what kind of job you’re hubby does but to be able to to own a house and a cabin and you being a stay at home mom ,my husband and I both work for years and barely can afford to rent a cottage for a week in the summer,

Looking So COZY ! ! 🤗 🤗 A couple of My Suggestion's ... That Lil' Cabinet at the End of the Video, really would've been a Good Nite-Stand. The Oar's On the Wall are Too High. The "Other" Oar's may Look G-o-o-d Underneath them. The Hat's On the Wall on the Rack . . . If you Put the Larger Hat in the Middle, on the Top Peg, it would Balance the Look.

The painted cabinet bases made a huge difference!!! They look so nice and are great storage. Another favorite is the jug on the shelf with the brass punched duck and vintage porcelain duck.

I am so happy for you. That arch is absolutely gorgeous and just makes that side garden. Now…grow some roses on it and you’ll have a very English garden . A really pretty one that does well is called New Dawn…. I planted mine last year and it was magazine gorgeous this year. All my neighbors were jealous. Grew it in front of my porch so it would climb the railing and go up the post so I can make my cottage look more English.

The cabin is amazing...a true blessing for your family gatherings! You've curated so well to maintain an easy, breezy feel that doesn't scream, but begs to be enjoyed. One thought...or two: consider putting the narrow cabinet unit on rollers. You'll enjoy the option to move it parallel to the sink wall when you require a different layout for serving, etc. Attach raise-able panels on each end for more serving space and a pegboard on the back that will accommodate hooks for a variety of uses when the cabinet is moved. Wow... those cabinets were a game changer!!!! What a great addition.. Form and function that anchors the entire room. Love the TV on them and how you styled the mantle is perfect. It allows the beauty of the stone to be the focal point. I think the best change was the addition of the two chairs with ottomans. And I do love mixing plaids and checks. The twig table from your sister is perfect for a cabin! Now you need to get a large over sized stretched canvas and make a painting of the lake or view from the cabin for over the other set of cabinets !!!!! What a treasure to have a family piece of art on the wall. What a fun project that everyone can enjoy.
