Congratulations! The new apartment looks wonderful and I love the industrial loft design a lot, but holy crap! You need to move North towards Pittsburgh. Housing prices here haven't gotten outrageous yet. You're moving into a very nice apartment but $2k a month is higher than most mortgage payments. If you don't mind the quietness and wide open nothingness, the Midwest is a great place to buy property too, but it's not for everyone. I look forward to seeing you record out of your new space. Keep up the great content.
I definitely think you should flip bedroom and office spaces. You'll get far more usage out of a large office vs large bedroom. Much better feeling natural lighting throughout the day for your workspace.

Cool video. Shocked at the prices but then I did look them up and there are cheaper reasonably cool options out there. Apparently your demands (location, probably?) make it costly! As for the space; I'm not sure about the ducts and concrete ceiling, but I love the various levels, concrete supports and shape of the space. It's an audiophile nightmare so I personally would never rent it (rounded corner, one side of the room being open, the energy-eating high ceilings, the height difference on one side of the room, it's all hopeless for making speakers perform well) but it looks SO good for video. Can't wait to see what you make of it!
Sad to see the apartment go, but excited for what you'll do in the new space! What I really want to know right now is where you got that red and white floral shirt! I like that it's a bit understated compared to other shirts like it!
As others have pointed out, the bare concrete walls of your new apartment strongly suggest that you will have to put in a decent amount of work to tame the room acoustics. It is possible to buy sound-absorbing panels (or make them if on a budget), and if they are covered in printable acoustic fabrics, in the photograph or artwork of your choice, the results can look quite attractive. I must say, you are one of the most stylish tech RU-vidrs that you can find on RU-vid today, period! If you look at the environment of your shooting area, it all look so dam nice, your sense for room design is just top notch! For example if you watch some videos from other tech RU-vidrs like, iJustine/EverythingApplePro or TaillosiveTech. Their rooms and surrounding or personal living area’s are really empty and bare bone. They have some money to spend but are not really utilizing it as it comes to style or room design. Shortly well done on styling and I really enjoy your video’s by the way. Keep up the amazing work you put in to it. 😎💪🏻👌🏻👍🏻

I moved to 2 bedroom unit in April/May 2020 during our first lockdown in Melbourne, Australia still even now over 12 months later trying to perfect locations for everything, rent is about $1282Pcm

Good luck to you. Your new place looks fantastic. Give yourself plenty of time because moving always takes longer than you think it going too, especially the packing and it is one of the stressful activities humans do. Regarding your new kitchen, why have the microwave directly above the gas hob? Is that normal in the States? Surely that’s asking for trouble and it can’t be good for the microwave with steam rising up directly into it.
Luke, you must be down in Crystal City or Alexandria… I have lived above DC in the Frederick MD area for many year and just moved to Gettysburg PA… my costs are going way down now… but I’m on the other end of the work cycle… Good luck… nice digs.
Luke, do you plan on remaining in the DC area? If so, you might consider buying a place. That $2900 per month could be going to a mortgage. I've lived in Pennsylvania, but worked in New Jersey for the last 8 years and I've thrown away at least $100k on the NJ rent. At the same time, I've paid down my PA mortagage by more than 80K, and the value of my house increased, building equity. Just an idea. By the way, the new place looks amazing. I love the industrial details that really give it character.

Good luck on the move! My family were somewhat nomadic (lol) when I was growing up, we moved once and sometimes twice every single year. For me moving is just a normal thing XD

Thanks to your excellent videos I decided not to wait for the 16" M1x MB Pro! I picked up a refurb'd late 2011 MB Pro 17" with new logic board, 16GB RAM, and 1TB WDC SSD inside. It has a working CD/DVD burner, too, and all of the essential ports! No need to buy a USB-C dock to run my USB-A gear! Money saved there. Speaking of $$$, I paid $750 for the 17" behemoth. I will be replacing the internal drive with a 2TB SSD by the OWC kit. I was prepared to lay out $3k for the M1x, so I was thrilled to get this one. I only do orchestral composing & arranging on it with the help of a bargain priced 43" Toshiba 4k smart tv thru HDMI cable. It's not as clean a setup as yours but my "studio wall" in my dining room works for my needs. Again, best wishes and I look forward to your future videos!

Alhhhh those carefree days of being a bachelor and getting a nice place and setting it up how I wanted it… then marriage and kids came along. Now I’m happy if I just get to sit at the dining room table and not be told to move because I’m in someone’s way.

If I were you I wouldn't cut that room on half with that L shaped couch since the room is already small. Try to change that couch with something smaller. Looking foward to see what you gonna do with that. I hope that you going to be happy there. All the best.
shower + bath in same room is clutch but ONLY if the bathtub is actually deep enough to get your whole body immersed. Start the bath with scalding hot water, CLEAN yourself in the shower and use the bath for what it's best for... BATHING. That way you don't bathe in your own filth. This is why the Japanese KNOW how to do bathrooms. All japanese BATHROOMS are also wetrooms. Baths are not for cleaning... they're for soaking. Of course, Japanese baths are also continuously heated and they keep the water a few degress cooler than lava... which helps.
