It's been a long time in the making but here we are with the Artemis M16, easily one of the best budget PCP's on the market today.
In this review we talk about the features, shot count, accuracy and then give our own verdict on the M16. There's even a bit of Welsh thrown in there for a bit of fun.
To get a bit of revenge though I ask all of my Welsh viewers to give me as many Essex based jokes as you can.. I know it might be difficult as we're such an intelligent bunch....

Hey Phillip I was waiting for this haha, I promise I'll get it done mate don't worry about that. I can get rifles that I stock reviewed faster than ones outside my reach which is why the S200 has taken me a little bit of time. I have taken a look at one already but to say it was a bit rough would be an understatement and I turned it down as it wouldn't have been a fair test. I haven't forgotten about you mate and when I do you'll most definitely be getting a mention in the video haha. Thanks mate!

Hi Dave, Thanks mate! I 100% agree with you regarding the looks this standard M16 is a lovely looking thing and despite what the scales were saying it's actually much lighter feeling than you'd think and the accuracy speaks for itself. They're reliable rifles as well which is a huge plus and the tuning community for these is massive. Yep we're going to be doing more budget stuff this year, I've got a Kozak FC that I may need to do next but after that we'll be smooth sailing for some cheaper rifles. Thanks Dave and take care mate.

Hi mate, the M16's scope rail is mounted fairly closely to the cheekpiece so you can mount more or less any size scope you'd like. For a budget option the Milbro CV's are nice and clear but the ideal setup would be a Discovery VT series scope as they have a cleaner reticle. Thanks mate.

@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 4 года назад
Hi Jonathan and thanks for the kind comments. It depends on what you're looking for in a PCP. If you don't mind some slightly rougher edges and prioritise a high shot count and a less pellet fussy barrel I'd go for the Alpha. The M16 however to me at least feels like the more refined rifle, the stock is better shaped, the consistency is better through the chrono on average and once you find the pellet they like (usually FTT's or Baracudas) I think they just edge out the Alpha when it comes to accuracy, they're also easier to tweak and tune if you'd be interested in that. The M16 also has the superior trigger. Neither one is a bad rifle and both will definitely embarrass some of the much more expensive rifles on the market but it depends on what tickles your fancy mate. Thanks Jonathan and sorry for the late reply.

@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 лет назад
I can sort of agree with that mate except when you compare it to rifles which are considerably more expensive the M16 actually does really well for itself. AA S410: 60-70 shots. HW100: 70-80 shots. BSA R10: 100-120 shots. Artemis M16: 115 shots. The older M16's with the wonky regs usually went on to around 140 shots but the consistency was a bit all over the place.

@@lfcmarkeb7124 The M16 is deceptively heavy though unlike the HW97 due to how they're balanced. I own a HW97KT and although I quite like the weight it's definitely more noticeable due to the rifle being very nose heavy, the M16 seems to be a more neutrally balanced rifle. Regarding Crosman pellets the only rifle I've had any success with them in was an XS78. My 97 seems to like Sniper Lights, JSB's and FTT's.
@wrinkle1784
@wrinkle1784 3 года назад
These guns seems to like baracudas a lot and the one advantage of baracudas in these magazines are that you feel the pellet going in so you know when the magazine is empty and smooth, thus you eliminate dry firing by mistake .jsbs good too but you don't feel a thing when you push them through the magazine.
@lfcmarkeb7124
@lfcmarkeb7124 5 лет назад
with these around and maybe a little more than the (gun only) rotex RM8 and gamo coyote,do you feel they can compete long term reliability/consistency against them ? given the Artemis is stuck with the"cheap Chinese gun" tag ?
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 лет назад
Hey mate, I'd happily bet that the M16's will outlast the pair of them especially if you get the later models with the updated barrels/regs. The other advantage with the M16 is that they're easy as pie to service should anything ever go wrong. There's a saying that I really like that fits the Artemis rifles really well and that's "keep it simple, stupid". If you've got a few allen keys and a screwdriver you can completely strip the M16. All rifles have their own advantages but as someone who has shot all three of them I'd take the Artemis.. it's the best combination of reliability, accuracy, weight and balance. The trigger is also quite a bit better than the RM8's and the Coyote's at least in my opinion. That being said though if shot count is what you're after then the RM8 is undeniably the best.

@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 4 года назад
Hi Percy, This one is somewhat tricky as you'll know I love both of them. If I ignore my nostalgic connection to the M22 I'd probably go for the M16. It doesn't have the shot count of the M22 but it's a lighter and better balanced rifle. The trigger is also superior on the M16. Regarding accuracy both will put pellet on pellet but the M22 does seem to be less pellet fussy at least at 12ft-lbs. Both are good but I think the trigger and overall feel just about tips it in the M16's favour. Thanks Percy and if you ever have any other questions never hesitate to get in touch.

Hi Dan. I enjoyed your review. Which one do you prefer quality and accuracy wise? the m16 or the p15?
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 лет назад
Hi mate and thanks for watching! This is a difficult one as each rifle is drastically different from each other. Regarding quality and feel I'd give it to the M16 personally as the P15's stock is a little bit on the bland side when new. Regarding accuracy there's almost nothing between them as they're both lasers in this regard. What I will say though is that if you're cursed with longer arms like myself or you're used to heavier rifles then the P15 may feel quite uncomfortable until you get used to it. The M16 feels much more natural to shoulder with it being a full sized rifle. What is definitely worth mentioning though is that although the tuning community for the M16 is pretty big it still pales in comparison to the P15's potential for future upgrades, so if you're a tinkerer you might get more smiles per mile out of the P15. If you're after an easy to use and shoulder rifle that is pellet on pellet the M16 will be for you. If you're after a rifle that is feather light, small and still pellet on pellet and you like pimping your rifles out then it might be worth checking out the P15. Sorry for the wall of text!!

Hey mate, I'm aiming to target some of the cheaper air rifles for my next reviews but I definitely wouldn't say no to trying one if I can get my mitts on one. Semi-auto air rifles are a bit of a grey area when it comes to the law and many manufacturers will refuse to create a semi-auto rifle if it has a rifled barrel. An interesting rifle regarding this situation is the Beretta CX4 Storm CO2 rifle, when it first came out it was a semi-auto with a rifled barrel. However once they started becoming popular and questions started getting raised regarding laws around SA air rifles they quickly changed them to have a smoothbore barrel. As it stands the Steyr is technically legal.. but the questions is for how long?

Hi Sam. I never really had any leaks with any of mine. In regards to zeroing the only time they'll lose zero is if the barrel is knocked as the barrel band is a more aesthetic than functional in my experience. The only major issues I had was the cocking pin failing which happened in 2020 as soon as the lockdowns lifted. I don't stock SMK products any more so I can't comment on if it was repaired or not but I'd imagine it's sorted. Other than that they're an excellent rifle and one of my favourite PCP's. Just remember to keep the barrel clean is the only thing as they don't like lead building up.

@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 5 лет назад
Hi Steven, both rifles are lovely bits of kit but I'd personally choose the M16 over the M22. For starters the M16 tends to be a bit less pellet fussy and in general it feels like a more refined rifle. The M22/M11 are great rifles and the double regulator system they use makes them incredibly consistent through the chrono but they don't quite have the same finesse and easy of use as the M16 due to them being larger in general and a bit heavier. The action on them is beautiful to use though and I'd happily say that they have the smoothest bolts I've ever used. The M16 is a rapier whereas the M22/M11 is a sledgehammer.

Looks like another Bic biro pen top job poking the pellets into the mag, now Dan you need a new microphone cover or mike set up. good vide

@bigdansairguns83 4 года назад
Hey mate, yeah the mags themselves are actually pretty good and I've yet to have a mag jam or fail. You're definitely right about the mike mate haha we'll be sorting out a lapel mic very soon hopefully along with another mic for voice overs. Cheers mate.

Hey Frank. It's not, I think Pellpax are using SMK's own figures which are well out of whack. Some of ours on the site are still the same until we can get the rifles weighed and the site adjusted.

Im getting an Artemis m16a and an air tank and im going to pop a hawk 2x7x32 on it and its going to be my cheap theoben rapid because im not gettimg a rapid they dont make spares and the people that have them for sale want gazillions for them and even more for the rifles yh the stocks not as nice but with a harris bipod on there its just as good im defo getting a .177 and a fuck ton of barracuda and barracuda hunter xtreme pellets and the copper costed ftts too...im getting the Artemis pistol aswell and im making walnut grips for it 😁😁😁😁😁✌👾

Hi mate, Yeah it's a shame about the Rapids as they're really lovely rifles but where they're getting a bit rare the prices are only going to go up. I've always said that the M16's will be the new Rapids as they're ridiculously easy to work on and they provide a great chassis for tuning. A customer of mine swears by the Baracuda pellets alongside the Baracuda FT's and the new Chinese QYS pellets. He's getting single hole groups at 50 yards with them! That pistol will look the bomb when its got those grips mate you'll look like Robocop's wealthier cousin with those haha.

If it was possible to do every British accent in a few seconds including Republican Irish, American, a dash of Icelandic and mainly North Walian and Scouse, well done. My mate Welsh Willie from a mile or so across the way as the crow flies would die laughing. But as they say here in Swansea, Cowin Lush.🤣

Hi Phillip. The Artemis rifles are fantastic and I can guarantee you'll love the M16. It's my personal favourite Artemis at the moment and possibly my favourite PCP that I stock in general. Give one a shoulder and you'll fall in love I reckon. Cheers Phillip.

Years of joy was not even close probable around 2 hours....Sadly the artems m16 is garbage, i managed to fire under 200 jsb hades over 2 days of gentle shooting and the trigger horribly malfunctioned i got my money refunded, be warned people there cheap for a reason save up for something better i wish i had. :'(

You must lear to shoot or the Artemis M16 is crap. I can shoot better groups with my HW50 neck-beak spring-gun at 25 meters. My best 5 shot group is the size of 'n .22 pellet.
