What will you be doing on Wednesday 8th May 2019. It’s a public holiday. Will you be having a braai, laying in bed, visiting family?
Or will you be placing an X next to somebody’s face on the ballot. In the hope that your vote will empower honest leaders to create a better life for you and your community?
If so, will you vote based on historical loyalty? The colour of your skin? Policies?
Are you thinking about voting AGAINST a party to teach them a lesson? Or will you be spoiling your ballot to show the country just how gatvol you are. Or organising protests instead.
Does opting out actually work? For every person who doesn’t vote, the majority required to WIN the elections gets smaller. In 94 over half of the voting age population voted for the ANC. At the last elections, only ONE THIRD of adult South Africans actually voted for the ruling party.
