my granddad was friends with one back in the 80s. He told me he'd go beat on the side of this sunken ship and a few minutes later she'd come out and swim around with them. They'd always spear a few fish and feed her. The one picture they took of her is insane. She was friggen H U G E
i imagine they love the scratching for getting rid of parasites and dead skin, and i bet they have learned that humans are the best wen it comes to scritches
They seem to be pretty placid with humans. I was snorkelling on the great barrier reef and one just appeared out of nowhere not more than 2 foot away from my face looking straight at me. Huge thing. I had no idea about groupers back then. Didn't freak me out too much. I tried to grab my waterproof camera but by the time I got it to my eye it was gone
Some of them weight 400 lbs. That’s around 180 kilograms. Forget that they hunt lion fish, they’re almost the weight of ACTUAL LIONS. Quite intimidating fish. Good thing that they don’t hunt humans, they eat things that they can swallow whole.
It wants a belly rub. Had one following me while snorkeling in the Red Sea. It came up to me and turned over for a belly rub. I was shocked! He/she enjoyed the massage!
I love how it has those little yellow and black striped fishies following it like a fan club. I guess that grouper has...(puts on sunglasses) groupies. 😎😂
You can see how beautiful and friendly they are, but i feel sorry for them when the spearfish diving killed them. when they did the same thing like i just saw in this picture trying to come up to meet the human to be friends.
Huge Fish: so my wife casually suggested to switch to kelp diet and I said no. "You could shed some pounds off in just a week.. So I told her "woman, if I ever would lose even a bit of flab, I'd lose my seat in the bar, and the humans would lump me together with the rest of them mouthbreathers.. Now if you'll excuse me, I smell some crabs underneath that sand..
Are they capable of such emotion? Or simply don’t care because they’re too big to consume. I think if they could they’d swallow those divers without hesitation
That was not a friendly fish. It was deciding whether or not it wanted to eat a dinner it would have to peel first. Guess it decided wasn't worth the time.
Now I understand the beginning of Jaws 3D. In order for a shark to eat a grouper in one bite, just leaving the head, that's got to be a BIG shark. But, the grouper in the movie looks small even in 3D. So, it's not impressive. I remember thinking: "Ok, he ate a fish. So, what? It's a shark".
I think the fish was just being lazy and letting the humans gather round. Usually when a fish wants to be friends it will actively seek out interaction. This guy just seems to be tryna take a nap.
