I found the backstory so interesting but I've made my entire career as a trader doing my absolute best to compartmentalize what I personally may or may not think/like vs what I can objectively assess in markets.

I really love how you cover GME, in a more objective and technical way. It's like watching a scientist studying phenomena that is fascinatingly anomalous, or a wildlife biologist that found a new species that behaves in a very unique way

I guess that DFV could change his fingerprints, but I’ve looked at every long call that he has purchased (and posted) since June 2019 and he has only ever bought monthly OpEx. If I see big buys in lots of 5,000 for a future monthly expiry, then I’d consider making a play.

Yep, a much more prudent filter to apply. Big positions need liquidity, which most of the time, isn't going to be in weeklies.

Thanks for all this. Helped me learn options. Seems like the best play any potential GME is to avoid weekly lotto OTM tickets and go further out with ITM calls.

The cool part about options is being able to build very tailored risk reward profiles. cheap, near-term OTM calls can explode with % returns but are VERY low probability plays.

@@esInvests In my opinion a lot of people are not really understanding how beneficial that dilution was for market participants who needed liquidity. GME with TSO of 300 million then dumping 120 million shares in 3 weeks bringing it up to 420 million is something that absolutely needs to be factored in here.

If you are looking at FTDs it is essential to include relevant ETF data because failing in an ETF provides certain benefits over failing the stock directly. I'm sure you've already read this elsewhere, but its worth reiterating. Including the potential for extended timelines and the expandable nature of ETFs allow for a more accurate model, but including ETF data also introduces noise. Something to consider.

Is there something to look at with some sort of strategy taking advantage of the high IV you've seen in short term by utilizing both sides of the trade? Or possibly where you could use calls to cover the locate requirement for short positions or puts to create available shares to borrow?

lots of ways to trade the IV, depending on the exact approach and risk you're looking for.

@@esInvests I'm looking for neither haha! Mostly trying to figure out how the short interest dropped so hard back in 2021 when the SEC report on Gamestop showed they didn't close but merely covered some of the exposure. Melvin died, but there's theories all over showing some huge put positions in Brazil opened up around Jan 2021, total return swaps, etc. Just been doing DD for three years trying to figure it out and options are an area I've never truly understood and your insight has really helped. Appreciate it man!

Just did a little more looking, I wasn't seeing them before so wanted to try another data source and I still don't actually see the flow on 20Jun at those sizes. Largest I see right now is 2308 of the 5Jul 30Cs. Where are you seeing these?

@@esInvests I believe it was Unusual Whales flow Maybe I am mistaken? I am pretty sure I also have a OI update the next day on the 21st that those Jun 28 22c had around +5200 from previous days OI of 600 & June 28 26.50 +1800 on previous OI of 200

Definitely plenty of activity going on today wrt to calls being onboarded across the chains, so entirely possible. I didn't see any orders in the sizes that he would likely be transacting at but that's based off his last position where he had a lot more liquid capital to use.
