Yes you always need to go a few shades lighter when you use box dye especially on colour treated hair like those dreadlocks extensions. They will definitely fade though ❤️

If you wash the dreads with a clarifying shampoo a few times it should fade it to the brown red it's supposed to be

I think if the short parts get straightened, it'd fit in way better with the long dreads, maybe give it a try and show us a pic, I'm pretty curious. Cuz it'd be a shame if you could only have one or the other without a way of blending it together.

I wouldnt have to straighten my hair for that, because my hair is VERY straight on it's own (I always try to curl it because it looks flat without it)

Yo, next time instead of cutting into hair after straight haircut to make it more natural ended, try overdirectioning it! Like, you lift your hair to your side and then cut. It leaves you with a little bit of whispy ends. Sorry for my English 😅
