What’s amazing is that the 720 is road legal, and you could track it with the same set up. It beat a modified dedicated drag car. I don’t think that demon is going around any corners well. What an amazing piece of engineering that 720 is!!
The two cars are of a different class in the first place. The fact that a Dodge can even run with a McLaren is a legacy being made. We aren't giving mopar enough credit.
culcune I agree. I mean the charger Hellcat is cool for what it is, a family sedan and to give that much HP with a factory. But I find the demon kind of pointless to me. You could build a dedicated drag car for a lot less.
Same thing. More wheelie is caused by the engine developing more torque and horsepower at the same revs. He should've lowered the launch RPM to prevent the front from popping that violently.
Would've been good to see a proper race on the higher power tune, but oh well the first race pretty much showed what everyone knew already! 720s is King!
word has it that you can buy a demon and build a car that beats supercars on track for the price of a 720s. and good luck to anyone who buys that thing used.
@@AAAAAA-yn9rw apparently the 765lt isn't really faster then the 720s, because he is more track focus. But on track he is a beast 7x faster then the 720s
Wow, great first race. Good cars, both of them on that pass. Consistency goes to the 720 but I'll give Herman credit for always trying to make his car better.
@@StrykerV8 Well, most races I see the losing car owner has excuses or reasons why they lost. It's far from only Herman doing it. Maybe I missed it, but where did he make an excuse for losing? I heard him say he would add the different gas or whatever after the 1st race but did he make an excuse for losing?
@@StrykerV8 not a "fanboy" of either, but the 720 was on kill both runs, and when the Demon went to kill mode the second run....it popped into limp mode. I would like to see a clean run when both are on kill. The first race was extremely close, and with the Demon turned up, I think it would have taken the 720. Oh well, I'm sure there will be another meet up soon enough.
@@StrykerV8 I'm, I never said"eco mode", all I'm saying is id like to see a run with both on kill mode. No excuses, he lost, all I'm saying is if it didn't pop into limp mode the second race, it would have been a lot different. Simple observation, that's all.
Hemi is one of the best engines built. No matter what the Europeans say. Lol. You can get an amazing amount of power from them. They can be built to get up to 1,400 hp with mods. Drag pros use them all the time and run 5 and 6's
@@Kobra7049 I can't disagree, my Magnum put down 399/397 to the wheels with a cam and a tune alone. Heads, long tubes, ported intake manifold, a mild bump in compression and I could see just shy of 500 to the wheels without boost (if the wife wasn't watching my HHP account 😅).
Nothing will beat a 720s. The demon is built like a wall and the 720s is aerodynamic UPDATE: It looks like I triggered a good amount of y’all 😂. Sure a modified mustang, viper, huracan will win in a quarter mile or even half mile, but even a stock 720s can beat modified vehicles shown in Brook’s previous videos.
Stock for stock, sure, but both cars are modified. The 720 caught the Demon because it had the better power:weight ratio, not because it launches cleaner like against most other cars (Demon was faster until the 1/8th mile on the first pass). The quarter mile times were 0.3s apart, so more power from the Demon would have let him hold on to his lead. Hell, even swapping the driver of the Demon to someone lighter would've made it essentially even. Demonology lost because he's a fatass and a moron respectively, not because his car didn't have the ability to beat that 720S. Second race's wheelie was caused by him launching the car at too high of an RPM, and as soon as the car hit the ground again, the computer sent it into limp mode.
Great race! Though, with these 2 vehicles. It’s mostly a function of a lesser weight vehicle running away. “60’ champ gets run down by peak HP, light weight aero”
6 mph trap speed difference. McLaren was having trouble launching. Still reeled in the Shit talker and got the win. On a street or worse yet on a roll, would of taken to gapplebees. Nothing against Demons, they’re neat cars. Just have a dislike for people who aren’t humble. You don’t see Brooks shit talking other drivers or makes.
@@juanc5149 turnabout is fair play, soulsnatcher's soul is still in the possession of that tangstang mustang. It ain't no fun when the rabbit 🐰 got the 🔫 gun.
@Sho Dog, it's not as if it's something he doesn't already know. Besides, Herman appears to be a nice guy so I expect that he would take it as the constructive criticism that it was intended to be and if he's that serious about his racing, which he appears to be, he's probably trying to work on it.
Great video, great racers dragtimes and demonolgy. Its hard to beat a mcclaren those guys know what they build. Amazing car. And for the money the demon did quite good. Great content as always brooks hard to beat Thor of mclaren😎
I don't know how these McLaren's hook up the way they do but for a rear-wheel-drive to hook up like that, with that much horsepower is supreme engineering...
Drag radials, dodgy fuel, 1100hp, still lost to a lightly tuned 720S, imagine what the new stripped out 765lt would do with over 1000hp, 8.5s @160mph? Frightening.
"Lightly tuned?" That 720S is making 900 WHP, that means you're looking at nearly 1000 HP at crank. It's also explicitly stated to run on race gas, just like the Demon. If you actually look at what modifications a race gas tune requires, you'd know that is not a "light" tune.
@@GintaPPE1000 The race was not in a controlled environment with a Tesla driver who knows how to get 100% out of Tesla as this channel also mentioned. It should happen in a properly organized drag track where everybody is happy about the conditions. How can we trust TopGear when we know that they have a vendetta against Tesla . The first programme proved that where they claimed they had a dead battery...
I love racing and the sportsmanship of it. Brooks doesn't talk down on the demon because we all appreciate that its a hell of a fast car. Respect for that. Amazing machines! The Mc looked like a rocket ship on that 2nd run!
What a great race! I wish Herman had not let out even though he red lighted. Brooks still would have stayed in it to give us fans the racing Dope we need Man!!
Great race for sure. Gotta give Demonology credit. He was really close to beating you but at the end of the day. Who ever has the power to weight ratio always wins🤷🏾♂️
I thought demonolgy should running 8s with all the extra mods. He was running 9.teens before the latest round of his modding. I bet he's disappointed. All that money spent and you can't get into the 8s. The demon too much of a brick.
I think that is correct Demonology should be running consistent low 8.8s -- e.g. GeargeadFab modded Demon ran 8.77 @ 161.57 -- also CrazyCat modded Demon with 8.86 @ 156.2. But remember even when Demonology was running his totally stock Demon he was not the fastest. There are several now who have run a stock Demons in the low 9.7s and one guy who beat the Dodge (Leah Pritchett's) 9.65 record -- Herman never broke 9.9 with his stock set up did he? Maybe he had one 9.87? There are guys who could have driven Herman's Demon at that meet and beaten that McLaren without a doubt.
He probably could've hit at least 9.0s on the second run if he didn't blow the launch, assuming the improvement we saw in the 60' held up for his other times. He'd better be disappointed - he dropped the ball, not the car.
Damn the fact the 720S isn’t a dedicated 1/4 car but beats these other Muscle cars at their own game . Either way after the 1/4 the Demond isn’t good after that, the 720S can keep going from what it’s seen. Good stuff here.
Demons are a beast for an oem car (not demonology). That 720 is nice, but price to perf is outta reach. I bet 90% of the people here would get a bigger smile on their face driving a demon vs 720. That's what's it's all about.
StrykerV8 apparently you’ve never seen his channel. What I’m saying, it’s not impressive when you have a modded hypercar that costs 4 or 5 times the amount just to beat it.
god, the 720 is just a perfectly tuned technological master piece. it grips, goes and shifts so precisely and does so every time with consistency. And so quietly, no big roar or burn out. just fuckin get in and mop up everything.
Bruh, how soul crushing is it to spend all your time and life savings into a DEMON just to win 1/4 mile races and still be losing... can't imagine how bad it would lose in a 1/2+ mile race...
Funny you know Brooks is driving when the car is still at WOT about 300' feet past the finish (never fails 😂). Good video though man, just gotta work on learning where the finish line is
Great race, i was hoping the modified 720s would make it 2-0 along with the stock 720s. Brooks and Herman are great guys, i love how the Demon has always got a smile on his face or is laughing n joking about something!!
preludeF20Bking that look like street trim to you? That 720 could have left after the wins to go to the local pizza restaurant without a jack and tire change
@@roboticvenom1935 no it's not. The demon was only made for the dragstrip. It can't do ANYTHING else. And his can't even drive on the street. And yet, it lost against a street car on street tires
Robotic Venom He didn’t keep up he got gapped and lost ,a Loss is a Loss with a capital L and he will keep going back and lose again to a street car he really needs that tattoo 😂
Awee, I like both you guys, great race..Great first race .Both pro skillz Sorry Demonology..you got cut down... That 720 had some pretty strong top end.whew
it's not like it won by a 5 second margin. and the second race would be even closer if the demon got the proper start. it would've probably won. also, saying someone "can drive" just because they can launch a modern supercar is ridiculous..
After the quarter mile the McLaren would've went even further ahead and it's not even on drag tires. Also has less hp than the plastic stripped down demon. No excuses. McLaren is the King. Beat at his own game.
@@MyRealName The McLaren is also street legal and road ready. Less hp and more luxury. Still beat the demon with heavy mods. No comparison if they kept going. The demon is geared like a tractor and still couldn't win.
Jack Meov Not a tuning error. You can’t bypass factory failsafes in modern cars - once he let off and the car slammed down the Demon went into limp mode, and you can hear it from how little the engine is working. It’s driver error because he launched it at too high of an RPM, causing it to wheelie, then let off, which possibly saved his life but caused his car to land heavily, which triggered the failsafe.
I think what is most impressive is how well the 720 leaves. A 1.49 60ft from a supercar is ridiculously good. I did think the McLaren would have a higher trap speed although 155 is impressive 😂
I rarely do this but rant time! Let's see here, a $300,000+ supercar that embarrasses exotics twice it's price versus a heavy and un-aerodynamic af muscle car (which makes it the last actual muscle car!) that barely got beaten. You would think most people would at-least acknowledge what Demonology was able to do with the platform despite what you might think of him and his call-outs. Drop your toxic fanboy shit, grow a pair and some brain cells while you're at it you so-called "car enthusiasts".
But that demon which is heavily modified and far from road legal and was designed just for one thing, lost to a "track" car (or what you wanna call it) in its own field. The demon has full drag suspension, slicks, pulleys etc. while the 720 has an exhaust and a tune and thats it.
@@aztakurva7836 like any McLaren that's not an LT or GTR, the 720S is not a track car first. It's definitely shown to be more bias to straight-line speed and has the headcount of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches to prove it. The Demon is road-legal from factory, and still road-legal with the mods (license plate in video). They are both running over 900hp to the wheels, despite the Demon having 77hp more. For it to have even a fighting chance, it needs the slicks and a weight reduction. Because it certainly doesn't have a dual-clutch, wizard tech, slippery aerodynamics, carbon-construction, mid-engine, and a $300,000 price tag to help it out.
i did write that you call it whatever you want, but the 720 is for sure not a drag car, more like an all around supercar i would say. And whit slicks i'm sure the demon is not street legal. And people always come with price, but a pile of plastic dodge is nowhere to a mclaren in any way, and the 720 is more espensive because it is an actual new car that they built from the ground up and not the 47th trim of a god knows how old platform.
@@aztakurva7836 congratulations, you just proved my point while sprinkling a bunch of bullshit on top of it. I never said the 720 was a drag car, it just so happens to be a monster on the straights. So you seem to be fine with the 720S being a completely different breed of car compared to the Challenger, but I can't mention the price for the privilege of said car. Aren't we comparing numbers here? You seem to have this defined line on what a street-legal car is, but in Texas where this was filmed, even if that Demon had a parachute and was gutted, it would still be registered as street-legal. I've seen full tube-frame drag cars with plates driving to and from car meets with cops attending no less. So I'm not sure how much more proof you need, but I'm done righting paragraphs for the day so that you can just ignore the facts.
@rockn roll are you going to tell me why I'm wrong and therefore why the 720S isn't a straight-line speed focused supercar? Because I like to be proven wrong so I can learn something, but so far I'm just getting empty rebuttals.
Love it 720s rules , I’m going to put my hot tune in 😂😂😂😂😂really dude you had all you had at the beginning 😂😂😂you should change the name of the Demon to jokesterology
Such a good race. I hate I had to leave right before the first race. I think the 2nd race he might have pulled it out if he hadnt had issues. He launched a lot harder then the first race. Hopefully yall can get it set up again and run it back!
