Big Launcher versus Big Shot

The Big Shot has dominated the Throw Bag Launcher market for years and has only recently been challenged with (compressed) air power and now 22 calibre blank cartridges.
NZ Gear Test asked if Treetools could supply a Big Launcher for comparison… and of course, we obliged.

Nice trees that you chose to show. Thanks for the review. 30 years ago the company I worked for through out several launchers some worked off 20ga shells and others .38 caliber and a cross bow and mortar. I was pissed i would have loved to have them.

I like to place the pocket of the bigshot on the tree side, I found that to give me the most consistent and accurate placement of the bag in the tree. Thanks for the review.

I used a Big Shot for the first time a few days ago. I had the trigger mounted in the same area as I see in videos. That rubber band was very difficult to stretch and I needed a helper to get it on the trigger mechanism. I used the 12-oz bag and yellow cord that came with it. I must admit I was disappointed at the performance, I was expecting the bag to go much higher. I was able to get over a limb around 60 feet but no higher. Next time I will use a smaller and lighter cord or even something like 20-lb fishing line.

Good on ya Ben ! Are the bottles of line single use or do you have to send them back to Mexico to be refilled ? Um and also if I bought a drone and a GoPro would treetools sponsor me? or would I have to go to LSM's Oh I'd probably have to climb well too. Dam! Nice work keep at it you'll have no competition from me. 👍

Jade Wilson haha your the man cuz,,,, na you can put any throw line in the bottles, however I just use it straight from my everyday throw line cube. Cheers:)

I hated the big shot and the launcher shown in the vid.Not enough height or weight to get it to fall through the canopy like macrocarpas.I ended up building a better one based on a Ar15 can canon.Much better

Selai Letica yes I'd have to agree with you there, am using a fishing line witch works well with the launcher, but it's hard to get the perfect tool for the job, pros and cons, the Launcher is the best to Cary or travel with.

Not for $600 US dollars. I'd rather use my $100 crossbow that will do the same job. You guys are just money hungry! Y'all must think that every American loves to just dish out big bucks for something that will be seldom used.
