Hey Nate, heres a suggestion for making prying the two pieces of wood apart a lot easier. Put a single layer of blue painters tape on the sides of the wood, and then glue the painter tape to painter tape. it will still hold really well for working on it, and you only have to fight the sticking power of the tape when prying them apart. Hope it helps!

A little tip -> use white glue to glue a sheet of newsprint between your two blocks. Separating becomes much easier...any residual paper left in the seam can be sanded off afterward. I enjoy your videos very much...thank you for making them.

Your swim bait videos are my favorite. I grew up in Santa Rosa CA and fished 150-200 days out of the year. Double digit largemouths were common and they smashed big swim baits. Look up Paul Duclos 24.1 lb largemouth. Happy Father’s Day!

To avoid the pieces sticking together too hard, stick a length of painter tape to each surface you want to glue. Then to the non-sticky side, put 2 or 3 drops of super glue along the length of the tape and stick the two pieces of tape together. It holds until you don't want it to anymore. Knife maker trick.

Hey, I know I’ve asked a million times, but please do a goldfish lure with big ol’ googly eyes. There are few things bass love more than goldfish, and it’s illegal to use real ones. It’s something I haven’t seen before, and I know that you would crush it.

Hi Nate, greetings from England, UK. Here's a bit of a challenge, instead of making one of these from wood, maybe you could source some extra thick Plexi-glass and make a smaller one so the internal 'workings can be seen from the outside? It should make more noise than steel on wood does and if you can spray the steel balls red, then this may give an added attractant to the predators seeing a 'jumping, pumping' bloody mass moving about (as gross as it sounds!!)

You could try gluing a piece of newspaper between the blocks of wood. I’ve had good luck with that. Just lay it on a corner and give it a firm wack with a mallet or hammer. There will be some clean up afterward though.

Hey I have a suggestion, down in Florida we’ve been having tons of invasive cichlids and stuff showing up in the waterways, they’re obviously not a typical baitfish but I’m sure bass have been eating them, so anyways I think a maybe 5-6 inch African cichlid swimbait would be cool, and you could go crazy with the colors.

If you ever run into this prob and you just need a little more weight the sell this led wire. You can wrap as much as you need around the long parts of your hooks. And it makes it heavier. But on this lure it looked like you needed a whole lot more weight.

A thought: I haven't worked out the specific mechanics of this, but I wonder if you could get some really interesting erratic, wounded fish action by having moving neodymium magnets inside a bait. Maybe two north-facing magnets that are free to move so they are affected by gravity or the inertia when you pull the line, but they repel one another so they end up moving apart and creating a shiver or a jerk. Just a musing.

I caught a catfish on a wake bait one time. I had gotten a backlash and he ate it off the top. It was at the river so it was definitely moving in some way, but I was still pretty surprised.

That was a good lure with a few improvements it could be great man!!.. like I love the glass eye, but you would have to always never hit bank when you cast.. wouldnt matter if it had a plastic bead in the eye. So how about lexan eye with plastic bead or beads.. colored beads maybe. And for the lip keep it tough as nails.. use metal.. stainless steal.. or aluminum.. keep the lip small/classy so they sit tighter to the body to allow easier hook ups and less chance to bend or break. Love your vids man seen em all. One day I will own a Marlin bait!! I hope
