Do your research please - had Baggio converted, Brazil still had another kick to put in and win. Why say Baggio's miss cost Italy the cup? Massaro missed too, Franco Baresi missed as well.
@@wqftyzfs2y6 if he goes far side or chips it or even passes to Mbappe (in other words, does literally anything other than what he actually did) it’s 100% a goal. Martinez would’ve been helpless. Kolo Muani shot it pretty much right at him
That was a great ghana team. I was backing uruguay (forlan and cavani were my men) but i think everybody was backing ghana all the way. I can imagine your hurt. As an Irish man 90 quarter finals and 2002 round of 16 penalthy shoot out hurt.
And rightfully so did it it hurt. Because that was the most disgusting, undeserved and stinking way possible to "win" a football match. Ever since that game I wish them nothing but the worst at a world cup. Thank heavens they were shot out by the Netherlands and later by Germany! Thank god they were shot out of 2014 by Colombia, or should I say, James
@@jaketsu1630 Yeah but their fault that Ghana couldnt win. Ghana would have won and in a way they technically did win. They would have won if it wasnt for Suarez fcking hand. And if you prevent a goal with a handball you know you‘re not as good as your opponent. You know you lost. You know you ran out of options. And you know you should have left the world cup.
Missing chances is part of the game but never let them define you...messi missed big chances but look how he got up gave it all again for his country and club...he is the inspiration
The thing is that his miss might not have changed the outcome at all as Brazil were already leading and had the final kick next had Baggio made that shot.
@@fabio0352you are right .. Baggio was an amazing legend and if he scored that PK, Italy would most likely still lose. But, Baggio himself put that penalty as the cover of his autobiography book and named it something that translate to “A goal in the sky”
4:02 I prefer the Road to World Cup 2022 for Argentina more than winning it in 2014. Messi's Grit made him win Copa America, Finalissima, and the World Cup. You forgot the Free Kick Messi missed in the 2014 Final.
In a way the misses in 2014 final helped for Argentina.....It retained Messi's hunger and fortune was on Argentina's side this time.....To be a World cup winner, fortune/luck has to be there....Imagine Argentina winning it in 2014, Messi would probably have retired or lost interest.....Argentina could have managed quarter finals at the most in 2022......A combination of a world cup win and a runner up medal is better than a world cup win with quarter final exit.......Argentina fans can brag about playing two finals in last three attempts when none of the other south american teams managed to make final since 2006....Messi also finishes with two golden balls and loads of other WC records......
I feel why the 2012 UCL final win for Chelsea was so special is like there was so many what if moments that all went in Chelsea favour. As a Chelsea fan 2012 and 2021 both felt just as good but 2012 we where in so many moments where it shouldn’t have gone to us. 2021 we was 100% underdogs but every thing was pretty straight forward. There was no comebacks or penalty saves.
Nah the 2012 one was special. Beating a heavyweight like Bayern in their own stadium after Bayern lost a final against Inter in 2010 final. However, 2021 final should’ve been won by City but Chelsea played well
@@EliasRoy We didn't deserve to win in 2021, Chelsea were the better team. Bayern should have won in 2012, they were inches away several times and had no reason to not win.
Robben missed twice in big games but after his cl miss, the next year his goal won the cl for Bayern against BVB, what a comeback! And also huge respect for Czech, he saved twice, one of the most underrated goalkeepers ever
Mate Robben almost bottled the 2013 UCL final too. I remember he got easy chances in that one and missed them as well. However, he finally scored in the last few mins
Gazza's missing the cross by 20cms in the Euro 96 semi final was the worst I remember. Extra time - golden goal to send England into their first final for 30 years in a home tournament. Losing that semi just shut the whole country down overnight.
Baggio's miss was a legacy killer. It's so harsh but it's true. He was the best player in the world at that moment in time, and he was on the biggest stage in the sport and he failed. Just a tremendous player but he'll always be most remembered for that.
Will I ever not feel sad after watching Argentina misses😩 Wow 2k likes for being sad thanks guys🙂 2nd edit: boyss we just won copaaa against Brazil in their home soil I can die in peace we have actually done it proud of Argentina finally they played as team👏👏😍😍🤩🤩😭😭
@@bigeral6436 No it wasnt Messi had Boateng on him and he rushed it because he didnt know where to shoot re wind the clip if you you focus you can see he was figuring out were to shoot he went far post he could of shot near post because Neuer was guarding Far post.
2016: ronaldo wing euro 2016 & messi loses his third copa america final and decided to retire from the national team due to the loss 2021: ronaldo gets knocked out of euro 2020 as defending champions and messi wins his first international trophy in 14 years im a messi and ronaldo fan and i think that he deserves that trophy win after 14 years of hurt of failing to win one with his country and now he has finally done it and im so very very happy for him god bless messi for wining the copa america
I still don't understand how he did not score that.. if he missed it or hit the post, alright - but the strength dudek has in his arm to keep that out.. It just wasn't meant to be for AC that night^^
@@gigadonis8684 Messi missed just 1 in the world cup 2014, if count the penalty miss of Messi in 2016 copa america then u should also count Higuain Miss on copa america final 2015
Higuain took so much hate he was scoring 30+ goals a season and in 2014 man was playing for Real Madrid would have been probably one of the best strikers in history if he scored those 3 chances that's why strikers are for
Add that last minute France chance which Martinez blocked. It would have altered history. But Dibu didn't allow it, after all, he had a world cup to win for Messi
I know it wasn't mentioned, but the dive in Italy 1-0 Australia will always hurt me. That close to holding on for extra-time and at the very end that had to happen to us.
Last minute of extra time one of the greatest saves in Liverpool FC history in one of there great match made by the supporters like Rome in Italy Liverpool will return to turkey in a final
✅ Ramos penalty straight into the cosmos in 2012 UCL semifinal against Bayern ✅ Martinez save last seconds WC2022 ✅ Griezmann missed penalty in UCL final 2016 ✅ Haller missed penalty when Borussia 1-1 vs Mainz in the last match for the title of Bundesliga'23 ✅ Hans-Yorg Butt missed penalty Bundesliga season 2001/02 in 32 round of 34, when Bayer Leverkusen leads 5 pts from 2nd place in tournament. It happens on 1-1, then Bayer lost 1-2 after this miss ✅ Riquelme last minute missed penalty on 0-0 with Arsenal in UCL 2006. First match Arsenal won 1-0
Yeah but it's his own fucking fault. It was harder to miss that chance than to score it and he still managed to fuck it up. He destroyed the dreams of an entire nation by choking on the biggest stage.
Higuain missed an easy open goal chance in the 2014 World Cup Final then went on to miss a penalty in the shootout of the Copa America Final 2015 then went on to miss another easy open goal chance in the 2016 Copa America Final. How he was picked ahead of Aguero is beyond me.
@@ObserverEffect-xp4dk massive respect for Chelsea , Timo still missed 2 good opportunities, but was crucial to the goal since he created a gap for Havertz to run in behind
@@IamSuperEffective That is FUNNNYYYY. Ever heard of a guy named Romario da Souza? Perhaps, you've heard of a guy called Georghie Hagi. Hristov Stoichkov, maybe? Baggio was invisible and was considered the flop of the tournament before a last minute, lucky scuffed goal against Nigeria in the round of 16. He then scored two more goals in the quarters and one in the semmis. Then he was missing again in the Final. Italy made the Finals because of the DEGFENSE, as they had the best defense in Europe.
Yeah, but unfortunately Brazil would probably won just the same, it was penalty for Italy to stay alive, not to win. Brazil would have the winning penalty in next series
The crazy thing is that the referee didn't do his job. Everytime before the italians shot Taffarel jumped and left the line. His saves wouldn't count with VAR today but back then the refs just didn't enforce the rules in penalties unless someone clearly left it too early.
That was the most iconic miss for me. As a kid it was the first world cup i ever watched and just seeing him stand there after missing hurt and im not even Italian
For the penalty missed by Baggio it has to be remembered that Brazil had still one penalty to shoot after. So they could still have won even if he scored
@@kennywarp Robben did what any good striker would do. He saw Casillas falling to one side so he chipped the ball to his other side. He couldn't risk putting it to high at that distance so he gave it just the right height. He wasn't counting on Casillas refusing to give up on the ball and raising his foot the way he did. It was a phenomenal save.
I think tbf even if Dembele scored that chance, I feel like Liverpool would have got the 5th at Anfield anyways. They were completely rampant that night
That’s true it’s possible. Also in that game we had a shot cleared off the line and then off the post. In hindsight I’m glad it didn’t go in cos if we had an away goal Barca would’ve been way more cautious. Instead they came to Anfield relaxed and got battered
si tenia todo el tiempo del mundo para enganchar o tirarla por arriba o a un palo y se la tira al lado del arquero. Iker estuvo bien pero el delantero le dio la oportunidad.
@@tenteno7294 That's the thing, Higuaín didn't have to shoot immediately. He could have taken the touch in his stride into an easy 1v1 against a Neuer who was caught off guard.
You should have included the 1999 Champions League final, Bayern came very close to making it 2-0 late on - Schmeichel made a great save from I think Zickler or Effenberg, Mehmet Scholl hit the post with a chip and Carsten Jancker hit the bar with an overhead
@@frankvandorp2059 It was Iker class of technique + elite mind at the pressure of worldcup final. Look he throw his body to one side and legs to another side so that he can increase the blocking area to stop tha ball entering to the net. It was 100% mindful block.
😭 Spain out in the group USA put in R16 Argentina out in the final I support all of them Man why did this happen? 😔😭 (Btw i support Argentina cause of Messi, USA and Spain because in from those 2 countries mostly.)
as an italian it hurts too see that penalty from baggio but you can’t be mad at him he got us there they had sick players and injured players and they kept going italy did great he basically carried and i think it was either nesta or pirlo that was sick and they were still playing or cannavoro but i forgot but man with pressure like that and with a stadium filled up and it’s pure silence that is just scary it’s all up to you, you need to make it or you lose, type position but u still gotta love baggio and the entire italian team hopefully we make it in the world cup and win it in 2026 but if it’s against brazil… then ima be pissed cause if they win they would have 2 world cups more then we do i reckon ghana vs italy would be cool cause if ghana made it they would be the first african country to be in the finals right? well i don’t know, but much love to the italian team we got it next year.
A fact that not many people know but Baggio's pen wasn't the only one missed because Baresi missed before him so even if he scored Brazil had to miss their pen
Messi had the toughest angle, for Higuain or Palacio would been some easy goals, and also, you didn't add Higuain offside run, he could've not rush and score an tap-in.
Look I'm a Messi fan but he scores from there. He's scored through Courtois legs fom that position when scoring a hattrick against Atletico in 2011-12. He did the same in the 2nd leg against Chelsea (2018 I think?). And scored that 4th goal against Espanyol from that angle too in Guardiola's last game (when they both shook hands and hugged each other). These are a few I remember from memory but pretty sure there are plenty more!
@@maazmustafa2322 The angle was completely different aganist courtois and the rest too. It was an much harder way of scoring. You couldn't say it was an clear 1v1. Higuain and Palacio should made already 3-0 till that time.
Even if Messi had the toughest angle, it’s a position that he usually scores from or at least hits the target. Palacio had the hardest of them all. He was under pressure from Boateng and had to lift the ball over Neuer who was also rushing out.
Add the one that Taremi missed at Iran vs Portugal's extra time in the world cup 2018. If he scored that ball, Iran would have qualified as the first team in that bloody group since Spain snatched a 2-2 draw against Morocco in the other match. Now, Taremi is a great player, but that was a huge miss. Btw, your clips for the world cup moments are fantastic. Keep up the good job and we will be waiting for new ones in 2022.
