The Op Amp muff is by far the best sounding muff.. and the reissue is super cheap too.. like $80 or something. Well worth it.

I've got the Nano version. I ended up running it into my 6505, Bogner and Orange while using it like a boost, as you would with a Tube Screamer. It works so good for thrash that way.

A good demo of Big Muff ( in a differewnt style) is on 'Memphis Underground' Larry Coryell 3.02 to 4.21 puts it thru its paces from grumble to sweet sustain. I have no evidence that he used one but I owned one and this what it did.

I have a Big Muff just like that one and it sounds the same. I also have a vintage 1973 Big Muff Pi. I bought the new one about 2 years ago because the vintage one needs to be sent out for repair. With the new one though, I just can't get the original vintage "Buffalo Springfield" sustaining flute like sounds like on Stephen Stills's "Special Care".

I really like my bm pi too. I use a boss bd2 after the fuzz, then I use an eq pedal to give a bit of low and hi reinforcement and tone down some of the mids.

I had a Big Muff in 1980 she was very pretty but that Muff was Big

The bigmuff always sounded good...But not so much when you play with the full band as it tends to get lost in the mix and disappear

One thing ive used before is a wah after, just so it can get some more mids and sound nastier which i like

That doesn’t make sense. It’s used in Pink Floyd guitar solos and can also be used in modern jazz. The key is using it in a right set up and making it sound less distorted and more clean sounding

@@ramencurry6672 Exactly, DG used it more for solos, because in the rhythm parts it tended to overload at certain frequencies, I wasn't referring to gain or distortion

@ramencurry6672 Agreed! Most try to dime the gain. If you leave the gain very low, then boost with an overdrive, it's cuts through very well.

Slash’s sound has mostly been a Gibson into a Marshall. He does use an octave fuzz on a few sounds, but anything that sounds like a Marshall is a good place to start.

This pedal is less suitable for Metal and rather for Grunge/Independent type of music. Try to play some Smashing Pumpkins with it!

True. As a metal/rock guy fuzz isn’t really suited. I am determined to find a way to use it in my style though!

For "modern" metal, maybe, but it chunks out the sound well with an overdrive. Dimebag used a couple of fuzzes in his day, and if it worked for him...
