Just want to say a huge thanks Alfie for the content you put out. I left the army after serving 16 years just before covid and I really struggled to adjust to civvy life. I understand that you have had battles of your own and after watching 1 of your videos were you talk about mental health, it really inspired me to get a grip of myself and take back control. So once again I'd like to say a huge thanks to you Alfie for unknowingly helping to grab life by the nuts. Cheers mate
Lovely Perch on a freezing winter day. I know a pool that Is small but very deep. It has a Overhang of evergreen trees. So It never gets much sunshine coming through. Perfect for Giant Perch. I haven't been there In Years, So how big they are now, would be frightening. i hit Into something, and I couldn't pull It up, and It ended up bending the hook out. I Fished It with worms (Big Lobbies) as that Is what will be coming out of the sides of the Bank, Into the water, Also Insects. But a Bucket of Minnows would be a Killer, as all they have only seen In the past, was Roach, but they have eaten all of them by now. I don't have a car anymore, and You need one to get there. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic Alfie. I had three over a Pound in 5 minutes the other day off the back of watching this video, including my PB Perch of 1lb 14oz (close to the magic number but can’t cheat myself). I wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t for this video! So I really do have to say thanks for the inspiration brother. Nice one!
You've caught 2 fish in within a couple of weeks that most people won't catch in a lifetime!! I mostly pike fish but I think you might just have persuaded me to try for perch.
What an incredible capture a true specimen a 5lb perch is mind blowing 😮 that fish must be so old they grow so slow, credit to Alfie what a moment that’s must of been. The width of it in the water on the realise is ridiculous.
Fair play Alfie! Perch of that size are as good as it gets. Top effort in the cold weather, my lake froze overnight and is finally now starting to clear after almost a month. Great vid!
Wow brother, you've done it again ! Blown away by both fish, but that returning shot, jeez, that perch had some frame, top man, bringing top quality content yet again. Big ups, take care. 😎 🎣 ✌
Great stuff Alfie! Its when you release that fish that you realise just how much of a unit it is!! Made me determined to get myself a 4 for the first time 🤩
I heard it rarely snows in the UK I live in SE Michigan near Canada and there’s usually 4 inches of snow on the ground. It’s been a very non-snowy year but for the last 2 weeks, there’s been 6 inches (15cm) of snow and temperatures around 10f (-15c) I caught some 1-2lb perch while ice fishing
Fingers crossed that myself and my son catch a specimen before the spring arrives. Hopefully we can see more of you and your specimen angling. Look forward to seeing further episodes.
Mega. Think I was spoiled as a kid: catching decent perch was fairly common so I don’t really fish for them anymore. Roach are my winter drug. Love smashing big weights out on the pole/whip. I ain’t going if it’s freezing though! Maybe I should have a go at perch: at least you can put your hands in your pockets 😝
Hi Alfie - only just discovered your channel - really impressed. You come across as a really likeable, bright young man who really knows his stuff. Love the way you respect and care for what you catch too. Cheers, you've found a new follower.
what a fish well done fish of a lifetime Ive been fishing since i was 11 years old am 55 now and my biggest Perch was only just over 4 lb that is a huge Perch for this country
Love it, bent elbows holding the fish close to your body for a true scale of a realy impressive fish, none of all that full arm's length towards the camera bullshit trying to make an average fish look like something it's not that's all to common on RU-vid these days.A real 5lb uk perch is something special well done.👍
This is awesome...wow good going alfie...some truly majestic perch 👌 u said u used a 1.5 or 1.75 test curve rod...so u didn't use a float rod then mate?
Always said there's a huge hidden monster perch somewhere in the UK since the 80s .I've had fish to just under 5lb and saw a perch with 6 other people where I got the near 5lb we at the time all thought 9 to 10lb never seen any perch like it that was in 1993 this pond in South Sunderland was full of huge perch average was 1lb loads of 2 3 4lb and the near 5lber. unfortunately like most ponds in the northeast got ruined.
I have had 6lb from a pond in Lincolnshire me and my mates all thought the same as you was about 10lb from the size because we never seen one over 3lb lol was just over 6 only fish I ever took a picture of its eye ball was the size of my thumb nail
@@aarondavies8486 I've had loads of carp as I'm all rounder/carp angler we compared sizes to them this perch was long and deep the bubbles off its gills were a size of 10p piece.ive had loads of big perch that many 1 2 3 and 4lbers obviously the big near 5lb this looked twice the size it's stuck with me all these years bloody amazing it was.
Cool man! Beautiful fish x2. Seeing you catching the fish, would make the video about 20 times more interesting. The narrating is a good angle, but in my opinion a bit more fishing would be nice. Congrats on your catches. Two gorgeous looking fat female Perch !! Tight lines mate.
You must be an amazing perch angler I haven't stopped watching your vids since I came across them last night I know what u mean wen u say you don't like catching big perch is pods and stuff I feel the exact same because theyr not wild like canal/ river perch just a quick question what rod do you use wen your livebaiting for them lamping at night for them? Iv never seen this method of fishing but I'm guna hit the sheffield canal next week and try it with jigs and maybe live bait
Are you using live bait or dead bait . Livebait is by far the best method by for perch, that's what I use all the time, but it is frowned upon by some anglers and an illegal method in some waters, maybe that's why you don't mention what bait you are using !
Great video, good fish 🐟 👌 👍 👏 If your up for a days challenge there's some great waters all around me , south Yorkshire. If your up for it msg me mate 👍 👌
. I’m using a 1.5tc drennan twin tip duo, a all round specialist rod, with the standard tip section not the light tip for power when striking into perch as there mouths are very hard and need a stiffer rod than a soft tipped float rod for setting hooks. Braid also. 😊
