I swapped the axles to one ton axles. I know the truck is not technically a "K30". But I have all equivalent parts as a one ton (minus the trans). But wen my 700r4 blows I have a turbo 400 ready to put in. This is why I consider big red a K30.
I just bought a 1980 chevy thats hasnt moved in two years, what do I need to look for to get her going again. That and it is a k20 2wd? I heard they made a few of em with ifs 2wd but I wanted to know if it could easly be converted to 4x4. Nice truck and nice video
an electric fuel pump makes a huge difference....my 496 in my 77 chevy will fire up after 3-6 cranks on a 20 degree day....no choke needed...and I can hold just enough pressure on the pedal to hold 600 rpm.
Helps bring the dry accel pump back to life. Mechanical auto choke helps activate the choke. Any carb engine thats sat long dont be nice. stab the skinny pedal violently. Also wakes any critters sleeping in the fan shroud.
The frame between a 3/4 ton and 1 ton are practically the same anyway. It's just the spring packs in the suspension and axles that made a 1 ton different from a 3/4 ton really. I have a 79 K20 I could put 1 ton axles under, and call it a K30
What I don't get is in your restoration video you say both trucks you combined were K20's....so how does that make this a K30 like you say in the description?
Is that a set of Ground Hawgs u have lying around? Put them back on that truck. I remember these tires well. I f you had a set of these babies people could here you coming a mile away! And that look, they are getting hard to find.
