Even though semi trucks have untold quantities of torque (2500 nm) they are still unable to pull out a tree stump! Not only that but it also has enough traction to pull it because they tried it with a trailer attached to the truck
I wonder if this guy's boss has seen this video. Since I own a truck I know for a fact this truck belongs to someone other than knot head trying to do this. Nobody who owns a truck would abuse their truck in this way.
I have owned trucks for 21 years and spent twelve of those years hauling heavy equipment in and out of jobsites. When he was bobtail snatching on it and spinning tires YES that wasn't something good I would EVER want done on a piece of equipment I own. And the Mansfield bar isn't designed to pull in that direction. They are specifically designed to take the stress in the other direction.
+3G Michigan I just realised something. you are absolutely correct. I can't believe I have been missing out on the opportunity to snatched stumps with the truck I paid $159k for last dec. boy am I a dumbass. I can't believe I was soooooo wrong. by the way any body got stumps I can snatch on? there you happy now?
+3G Michigan 1st, you need to look up the definitions for argument and discussion . You don't seem to know the difference. 2nd when I posted my 2 sentence comment based upon my 21 years of truck ownership I wasnt looking for either a discussion or an argument. 3rd ,99 percent of the people who have ever got out their checkbook to purchase, maintain, and repair a semi WOULD not allow this to be done to their equipement. Finally , when I agree with you just to shut your dumb ass up, you accuse me of not being an adult. You're a JOKE. Find someone else to argue with because I'm done with this one.
Or just burn it out if you don't want to spend any money. Either way, it's not worth risking fucking up a $100k+ truck for a job which can easily be done another way.
I pulled a stump with a V-6 Mustang once, but it was only the diameter of a soda can lol.... that being said these folks here need a loader or backhoe :)
A better idea would have been to leave ten feet of stump and attach the chain near the top for better leverage. Cut a notch around the top to fit the chain into. But I would not have thought of doing that when cutting it down, either.... Guess I will remember this one.
You could easily find someone with a stump mulcher to take care of that for about $80. It only takes 20 minutes with a good professional grade mulcher. Waaaaaaaay cheaper than replacing bald tires or risking damage to your transmission. Not to mention the possibility of that chain breaking off and decapitating one of your filming spectators.
wonder what might have happened had one of them chain links that snapped flew back and hit the kids,or when that chain snapped back & busted one of them in the face.think people!
"alignment issues"? These trucks can pull 80,000lbs and run for over 1,000,000 miles. Not exactly a weak design....and as for the tractor, he was pulling from the center of the truck with little side load.
3G Michigan hauling 80k is alot different then putting the trailer in a hard bind sure it was in the center but he was pulling at a sideways angle so it's actually pulling the truck and trailer out of alignment if not noticeably then slightly. it dosent take alot to throw a trailer out
I understand and completely agree. What I am saying is that equipment is so much stronger than most people think (in general) that this is unlikely to cause any significant issues for the tractor. Think about how many people slow down and /or stop for a little speed bump, even though your suspension is designed to absorb exactly that kind of bump, thus wearing out other parts of your car unnecessarily, and don't think twice about hitting a pothole at 70...and our highway system is covered with huge potholes. That being said, I did think they were idiots for hooking up to the trailer like they did as it was clearly not intended to be pulled on in any direction, much less at an angle. When I was younger (much) my wife and I would cruise with my Toyota pickup truck at the Mall of America, and we would hit the top of the parking lot ramp, winding out in 2nd gear and literally fly 35+ feet. Sparks, dust and looking back, plenty of stupidity...but the point is that that old rusty p/u handled it just fine, except the front anti-sway bar mount did finally give way. Anyway, hope my rant didn't ruffle too many feathers.
3G Michigan like u said, it creates long term problems and the majority of these trucks come from Mexico and aren't what they should be. it's the leafs I was more concerned about. 50% of trailers on the road set at an angle if you ride behind them watch, I had a 2016 international with no signs of alignment issues but "whatever happened " I had to replace all my tires at 140,000 miles and twice on the steers
That light 5t tractor is not near enough heawy or powerfull to produce 20t force needed for that stump. Call the 25t excavator and this stump will fly of the dirt
Gonna rip that DOT bumper off for 1 and 2 you gotta slide those tandems back, there still isnt a lot of weight on the back of the truck with them slid all the way up
lol good try guys. Our big trucks have some serious power but... they're not that powerful. You're gonna need to need to dig around the roots quite a bit more before you can uproot that stubborn ass stump lol.
All the damage being done to this truck and trailer... Burning up the clutch and rubber off the tire messing up the transmission and drive shaft bending the light panel and D.O.T. bumper on the trailer all because these men are too cheap, lazy and mindless to go get the PROPER EQUIPMENT to do the PROPER JOB. MANKIND CAN'T DO NOTHING RIGHT CONTINUALLY BUT LIE EACH OTHER UP AND DOWN!! This is just 1st hand visually witnessing some of the reasons why NOT buy a USED TRUCK or ANYTHING else from MOST but not all people, and it ABSOLUTELY DOESN'T MATTER WHAT RACE THEY ARE!!
Well.... behind the sleeper cab wall alone, there is probably 4,400 lbs (2,000 kg). So I wouldn't say no weight lol. A truck of that magnitude I think is about 18,500 lbs total (8,400 kg).
Bendy Central they didn’t end up getting it out with the big rig, after a couple weeks they decided to just dig it out. I’m not sure what they were trying to achieve with the big rig, but digging it out seems a lot smarter.
He just damaged the tractor frame doing that. Now he's damaging the trailor to. I guess common sense isnt something these guys have. That stump is way to big.
Advocatus Diaboli then why do you see kenworths and peterbilts hauling oversized loads all the time and as far as engines cat and Cummins will always be more reliable than anything Mercedes makes sorry but Volvo is a pussy semi
Joshua Cornell - That weak shit Scania garbage that nobody in Europe really wants to drive. They all wish they could have Peterbilts and Kenworths. Truth. Everybody knows American trucks are superior haulers.
