I didn't know I could love anyone so much until my Great Granddaughter was born! She'll be three in December. It's a love that's hard to explain. The pictures you shared were beautiful. My Daughter had a head full of hair too. I'm so happy for Cody. You could tell there's so much love there. I know how you feel losing a child. I lost my youngest Son in August of last year. I still have bad days. We just have to pray, and do the best we can. I can remember chewing sugar cane with my Granny. We also chewed coals from her stove. I really don't know why we did that. Hi Mrs. Helen, you are so friendly and when I watch you it's like sitting outside with you. And I remember when I was a child ( I,m 68 years) that was one of our favorite treats. Sitting around the fireplace and chewing all the sweetness of the can. My great mother would stand her sugarcane with all the top on them up in a teepee shape and mound straw and just a little dirt on them. Continue to be bless and a blessing.

Good morning Ms Helen. Oh my goodness that baby is so precious and I think she favors Cody and my daughter does too. I'm so sorry about your son. I can't imagine loosing my child. I lost my husband to cancer when I was 32 and he was 34. My girls were 4 and 13. I'm 68 now and I never remarried. He was my perfect mate. I've always said that I would not marry again unless I feel the same way I did in my heart when I married my husband. After 20 years and my girls were married I fell in love with a man that had been my friend for about 6 years. He really loved me too. We were going to get married but, he was killed in a car wreck. But, you know what...if I didn't have God to pick me up and carry me I would be in the nut house now. I could go on with the things that I have been thru especially the last 2 years. But, I've always tried to have a positive attitude. I can look around and see that I am still so blessed. I'm not homeless, I have so much to be thankful for. God has been with me all the way and he has humbled me to the point that now, he can use me to help others!! I'm sorry this text is so long but, I just felt like maybe someone needed to hear this. God is ALWAYS with you. It's not the things that happen to you but, it's how you handle those things. Life is a test and if we fail the tests that God puts us thru then HE will keep on until we pass the test. EVERYTHING happens for a reason!! Miss Helen I love you and I hope that if I live to be your age that My light will shine like yours does. You are such a blessing to me!!!

Hi Helen, you're up early. Beautiful family, I know you're heart is full of joy. Thanks for sharing your picture, you were beautiful even back then. I stock up on sweet potatoes in the fall when they're on sale. I wash them, put oil on them and bake them, just like Mama did. After baking them I peel them and put them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and then freeze them. After the sweet potatoes freeze, I put each individual sweet potatoes in a seal meal bag and put in the freezer. I take a sweet Potato as needed from the freezer at meal time. I remove it from the bag and put on a plate in the microwave for approx 3 to 4 minutes. It tastes like it was fresh baked, I still have potatoes from last year. Please try this, it works and these sweet potatoes are quick and easy to have throughout the year. I eat them plain, just as they are.

My grandmother called them plumgrannies. I've always loved pomegranates. While I was receiving chemo I would eat 2 or 3 almost every day. My nurse would tell me my blood work was fantastic or 'rock star'. I attributed it to the pomegranates. It may or may not have been true but it didn't hurt to have so much vitamin C. Charlotte is beautiful and so are you in that photo. You could have been a child model. I love listening to you. Your voice is very soothing. I'm from middle Georgia and have learned to treasure my southern accent.

Little Charlotte is beautiful! You have a beautiful family. We planted 2 sweet potatoes in an old claw foot tub and there are vines every where. We have not dug them yet. I live in Louisiana and grew up eating Ribbon Cane syrup that was in a big 1/2 gal can. It stayed on the stove and Mama would heat it up when we wanted syrup for breakfast. That would melt the sugar in it and it was delicious! We have a pecan tree but no walnuts. I buy a bag of walnuts every year for fudge. I sure enjoyed this video. Brought back a lot of memories.
