Big Trout in a Hidden Lake and Tying the Thin Mint 

Welcome to the second episode of Tall Tales and Tying Tuesday where I combine two things I love, story-telling and fly tying, into one video. In this episode, third hand information from people I never met leads to a dream lake high in the mountains in Idaho where a friend and I catch big o'l cutthroat trout fly fishing with one of my favorite flies: the Thin Mint.
And here is the recipe for tying the Thin Mint:
Hook: Orvis 8808 4X-Long Streamer Hook (#6-#10)
Bead head: Gold plated tungsten
Thread: Black 6/0
Tail: One clump each: Brown marabou, olive marabou, black marabou flanked by a few strands of peacock flashabou
Body: Several strands of peacock herl
Hackle: Reverse wound brown hen hackle
Ribbing/re-enforcement: Medium copper wire reverse round
