@palaashbarot5896
@palaashbarot5896 Год назад
It was Magnus's smartness to offer pieces for exchange to make things simpler, and make sure Gukesh doesn't unleash a sudden attack, since he would be left with no pieces. He made sure there were not many pieces for weird attack ideas. And Magnus is anyway too strong for the end game.
@n1te
@n1te Год назад
Exactly. Magnus is like a computer when big pieces are off the board. But when they're on the board, there's much more room for creativity and he can't calculate everything. So, to beat Magnus, you have to keep the big pieces on the board and hope for the best.

No shame in his game for Gukesh. Well played by him. It’s just unfortunate that Magnus was his opponent. Gukesh played with great precision. But that’s where Magnus shines. Keymer tried to create imbalances (at his risk) but knew that was the only way he had a chance against Magnus. Gukesh will need to try to throw a monkey wrench in Magnus’ spoke tomorrow if he’s going to create opportunities to win. He may crash and burn. But hopefully he is clever enough to trip Magnus up. Very few can. But I believe Gukesh certainly has the minerals to do it.

Wasted 20 mins of Magnus time and delivered checks ?? 😂😂😂 that just tells me that you didn't see the game live and moreover you don't know anything about chess nor the tournament. Let me educate you boy. After 40 mins, both players get 30 mins additional time in classical so they can go take a break. Gukesh was within his given time and even Magnus did this in his first 2 games with Vincent. If this makes the players sore losers, then everyone is a sore loser by your reasoning. And this only demonstrates to me that you are only projecting your own lacking onto Gukesh who is btw the number 7 in chess in the world. Subconsciously your are projecting what you really are which is a sore loser irl obviously. Gukesh would destroy you blindfolded without even a queen with a 10th of your time at any day and any time of the week bruh 😉 😂😂 And as absurd as you sound on your feeble attempt to discredit Gukesh who will f you up on the board while taking a dump in your own house, I would not even comment on your second point which is him giving spite checks *smfh* . Hey trust me dude, go watch badminton or volleyball or even golf (although I doubt you would understand the rules there as well). Yes go watch something easy for your little brain to comprehend. Chess isn't for you bro. It is too complex for you to understand why Gukesh giving checks in this instance is correct. This is an endgame. We are at the end of it. Giving few checks first of all has a tiny chance of being in your favor. It takes just one move and Guķesh would be in the game again. He has to test the waters and make sure that he didn't miss anything before resigning. This is not one of your 500 elo games online that we are talking about here. It is the quarter finals of a prestigious tournament and he is playing the number 1 chess player in the world. Don't be quick to judge or blabla if you can't respect the players and the sport itself. Go watch something else boy.

Indians have hilarious names to speakers of other languages ngl. Gukesh is pretty similar to the "you" form conjugation ("gukash") of the Bulgarian verb "gukam" which means to coo (as a baby). So whenever Agad says Gukesh I can't help but say out loud "cooing baby goo goo ga ga" in Bulgarian, which is kinda fitting since he is just 17 anyway :D

Instead of saying magnus is God of endgame I feel that rest of the field lack some understanding of the endgame. Tbh if gukesh is to rule the chess world he has to better magnus in every aspect which will take time . As far as classical chess is concerned Magnus is the BOSS .Period
@dereknichols4376
@dereknichols4376 Год назад
its hard to win endgame because u need to find 'engine' moves instead of natural moves this is one of magnus's talent,u can see from all his interview he said he never try to learn endgame,he just use intuition about some move feel more natural/engine like this is why magnus far better than most super gm who relied on opening preps engines

8:40 you said the biggest problem is that Gukesh can't play c4??????!!!!!!! it's actually the best move he can play and a game-saving move. This is a serious lapse in analysis

What? At 14:12 instead of K-c2 why not rook to e8 Check! That would have drawn the game unless black's King moved back up the board. If black's king had moved on check to d3 it would have been perpetual. If up the board, the e2 pawn would be captured. (???)
@joebazooks
@joebazooks Год назад
exactly my thoughts. i just posted the same question... immediate +re8 forces a perpetual unless black gives up his passed e pawn and then hes down pawns 3:1...

I can understand Gukesh’s dilemma… He can’t go for traditional lines as Magnus would definitely know them better than him & if he goes for untraditional lines then he has to come up with engine like precision moves within limited time again & again to get any advantage out of the position.
@dereknichols4376
@dereknichols4376 Год назад
it even worse to play untraditional lines against Magnus Magnus is very well know for his endgame and he will be really happy to play unknown position without engine preps Just look at how he play the 8th lines from london to avoid Gukesh opening prep

Just as a side note, the actual top engine recommendation for Gukesh's 34th move is precisely c4, because after white's Rg3+, black can respond with Rf3, and any variation from there will lead to an equal endgame

Great content. Always enjoy this channel as it is purely chess. No beating around the bush. This was a masterful game. I think the game Magnus played against Vincent Keiymer was his rate limiting step especially when he made a terrible mistake in the middle game but Keiymer couldn't find the winning move. When Magnus survived that 'rate limiting step', I knew it was all over: HE IS GOING TO WIN THE CUP. He is in his own league!
