My favourite rulebook this year is for Primal the Awakening, and that's 100 pages of amazing effort and quality put in to make the game easy to PLAY with an amazing index and layout to find everything effortlessly. Sure they could probably have half assed a 25 page rulebook and left it for you to figure out, but then you'd just have endless complaints about the rulebook. Instead it is literally a masterpiece of a rulebook. I think saying "100 page rulebooks are bad" is bad. Bad rulebooks are bad. If Earth was a heavier game, it'd need a longer and more detailed rulebook otherwise it'd be a crappier game and no one would care about it.
Hey Chris did you notice Chip Theory Games Elders Scrolls finally has the rule book out! Once you get a chance to read the 100 page rule book, I would like to hear your feedback about the game. I enjoy watching your videos keep up the great work!
50 games is probably what i will consume in the next 25 years... Strangely, when informations on Grimcoven showed, i instantly unfollowed the campaign, tagging it as not interested.
Love it, Chris. For me, Grimcoven is a “poor-person’s” Oathsworn. I’ve played plenty of “1-shot” scenarios with that game (as well as the 21 chapter campaign) for many people and they love it, particularly with app narration and $120 (with shipping)I paid for it, obviates stuff like this forever. Just my take.
Chris, when I learned and played Primal I enjoyed it, but I kept thinking one word. STREAMLINED. This game needs to be streamlined. We need elegant mechanics that are simple, but deep. Here is a great example of a streamlined design that allows for 'so far' incredible depth: Marvel United. --- So when I consider Grimcoven, I am VERY worried it won't be streamlined. I played Nemesis Retaliation at Dice Tower West like 15 times (I was helping demo it) and it just needed to be streamlined. When has Awaken Realms streamlined ANYTHING? Grimcoven looks great... but do I need another boss battler? First question. I have a lot.... second... will it be unique and streamlined, or will it just be a pile of rules rules rules. I know Primal is popular, but that ruleset could have been done way better. I don't know. Last year's Jason would have backed Grimcoven no matter what. This year's Jason is hesitant. What will this game give me beyond the excitement of getting it and opening it? Will it give me a simple yet deep experience? I don't know. Streamlined. I want games that have elegant designs that are streamlined. Marvel United is the footprint in elegant design.
To me, unfortunately, there's a ''yellow flag'' on Blood since I didn't receive my BRWR yet (French edition) and most of all, silent radio on KS about where our pledges are at this time (march 29th we receive a shipping update about label created but since .... nothing). We're all aware about MG and that means no more buy from LMG until at least some answers and new update.
I have cancelled my Degenesis pledge. Gameplay just looked boring to me, so let it go. Interested in Grimcoven, Odalin, Blood and Dark Blood. And, although I don't need more Mythic Battles, I am probably going to go all in?!
I do wonder about the overhead with Grimcoven as well. Don’t get me wrong I’m still going to back it all but having just played Leviathan Wilds has me thinking. Loving Leviathan Wilds!
Can't wait for Sovereign: Fall of Wormwood! Also i think this game is more similar to Android: Netrunner :D I played it a lot on TTS and it's really cool game!!! It's really the best with 3-4 players, because of alliances, treacheries and similar hahahah
I think you are starting to get a bit too preachy Chris. It is getting tiresome, video after video after video. I know we should spend wisely ,be sensible yadayadayada but ultimately we are here because we love boardgames. If we wanted lifecoach style advice ,we wouldn't be watching a boardgaming channel.
@@ferver-san Wrong. Don't try the Straw Man logical fallacy on me. I never said you can't criticize. You can do whatever you want, but expecting someone to change to suit your tastes is both futile and arrogant.
@@Gamebent1 I am not asking anyone to change.I am neither his lifecoach nor his mother. I am simply asking -not demanding- for the preachiness to be toned down a little.
