Yes I agree with this guy thats why I use bits of helping side ...or compensate by hitting slightly thinner - pace also has an effect because of what he said but this is only corrected by repeating the shots and table time in practice and a lot of the top players have locked in the memory of potting balls repeatedly without knowing why or how to describe this as they use there muscle memory after replicating the shots and angles over and over. He is correct. This is why the GB method is flawed in most of the coaching explanations out there because the players that think they use it are actually compensating while they use the method. Also he is correct about club balls and the pro game because of the table conditions and balls which are different from the pro game and the effect is lesser because of cleaner balls and thinner nap on tables - this is also something snooker coaches online forget to mention because they normally play on better conditions and its not as much of a factor and they forget most club players play on ordinary tables where this use of helping side is more of a factor. This is why it can be more difficult going from club conditions onto a pro table. The balls are better heavier and cleaner the cloth is thinner faster with heated bed and more reactive the cushions are steel blocked more reactive and its a totally different game and you dont need to hit as hard. Bad or slow playing tables can actually destroy your game unless you can adapt well because players get subconciously used to playing conditions this is why the top players need to re cloth tables a lot and try and replicate tournament conditions which is very hard and expensive to do. You can learn to adapt but the pros actually play a totally different game to most everyone else because of these conditions. Interesting to see more of this guys explanations of how he overcomes these things.
Hi Brando, great video,,,,i use to miss shots because of this all the time,,,,but i cant explain how i adjusted to compensate for it,,,somehow i just do it when the shot needs it.... i obviously am aiming thinner than perfect angle,,,but not on all shots, its like i have just automatically (sub-conciously) corrected the shot without thinking about it....maybe just from experience,,, it feels more instinctive than an actual thought process......look forward to the next video about the black,,,,they are not going to be easy to make,,,,,i think it will be difficult to explain without it becoming confusing....keep up the good work buddy....thank you.
i sussed this out myself and only been playing a few years !! i also learned you have to adjust for top spin and screw shots slightly or you will miss the same angle thick or thin depending on where you strike the cue ball i’m still getting used to it and it gets confusing
I'm sorry but I just tried this experiment both in general aiming and the trick setup in the first video and I found that pace or top or bottom spin made no difference to the trajectory of the contact ball. I think there maybe a few issues going on here which are very important understand if you're missing shots like in these two videos. The first is in my experience most contact ball deflection happens due unwanted side spin imparted on the white ball. With the trick setup in the first video I was able to get the contact ball to miss on either side simply by adding side spin to the white ball. It's also important to note that white ball deflection due to unwanted side spin will vary depending on the pace and also the errors in your cue action can vary depending on how you stroke or time the ball which might explain why Brando potted his medium top spin shot well. Another issue is with the ghost ball method where it's very important to remember that when sighting the white ball will be hitting the contact ball on the side of the white and if you're hitting the ball thick it could be because you are aiming the centre of the white at the aiming point on the contact ball. It's hard to judge as I'm looking through a camera view but it looked like with Brando's soft shots it looked like he was aiming thick. Another issue to watch out for is not cueing through the white ball, a lot of shots I see missed (including mine) are due to jabbing at the white ball. I know I've been guilty of all these issues and hope that some of the things I've learnt from working on my own game may help others here figure out some of the reasons why they miss as well.
Thank you for the video and confirming the throw ,squeeze whatever it is called. I myself miss the black thick just like you showed in the video. I always thought I was not aiming properly or cueing badly or that I was not lining up properly or if I think I lined up properly I didn't deliver properly, when all along it was simply not accounting for the throw/squeeze/deflection that ends the break when you least expect it . Many thanks . Appreciate your content. Cheers
What about draw shot, does it have the same effect of minimizing C.I.T. on the Object ball as the top spin shot? Self taught and used draw shot which I believe kept the OB straighter. Thx!!
I am the opposite. I don't use draw too much but when I do I miss pretty badly. I'm a pretty good shot but I can see something is different. Dr. Dave said somewhere that a draw/stun has no CIT but I'm not sure.
I am angry too! For all the time I've wasted on the ghost ball method, it should be ignored, it is total rubbish. I started 4 years ago, and thought that the GBM was the most logical way to approach aiming. Most coaches (not Brando) tell us, + players like Steven Hendry, to aim at that point in line with the pocket, and talk about the ghost ball, but it doesn't work, which Brando demonstrates perfectly. My coach kept telling me to aim at the ghost ball and trust my aim. Both of these things were totally wrong. The GB is obviously wrong, but also my aim was faulty (I know that now since I started accounting for throw), and I saw shots thinner than they are in reality. Since I discovered Brandos videos I understand what should happen with throw, and when I accounted for my dodgy aiming on top, I started to pot more consistently. I put 30+ on my breaks thanks to Brando over the last 3 months. This is seriously good stuff.
can you please tell me which hip do you sit on when you are about go to down ? i think i over turn my hip or i might be sitting on wrong hip, my cue butt is always to the left of line of aim, offline. and i am sure the hip is causing it, do you sit on your right hip or left hip ? my right leg (leading leg) from behind looks like this \ and lots of gap between grip hand and the trouser pocket. please help me thank you
So ghost method not working all the time and if it’s makes deflection or through , so how correct this ? Am assuming use a tiny left handset side or position the potting angle to the right juu of pocket , but again depend on shot speed slow medium hard or stun shots
how to find vision center is this method correct Put your cue in front of you vertically Find an object far away, like a piece of chalk Stare at the object. Your cue should blur out Keep the object in the center of that blur, and move your face towards your cue Where the cue makes contact with your face is your vision center does it work?
I speechless! ALMOST EVERY TRAINING VIDEO TEACHER THE GHOST METHOD! I'm new at this. Being taught the truth is important. Thank you! I'm so mad at all the people teaching this wrong!
@@SnookerCoachBrando This is a very interesting video for me. So aiming could be where im going wrong instead of technique. This coyld explain why I miss to the right and when I play the spots with the cueball the cueball comes back to the right.
I do like your video where you try to explain the throw effect on the object bal. But, you are using the wrong expressions. What you are talkiung about is the trow effect. to be even more precisely the C.I.T. (Cut Induced Throw) There is also S.I.T. (Spin Induced Throw, where the objectballs path is thrown off its line bij the friction caused by spin effect on the ceu ball. Deflection, on the other hand, is something completely different. It is the deflection of the cue balls path when hit with sidespin. For more information about this search for DrDaveBilliards on youtube and his topics about throw and deflection. Hope this helps. Greetings, John
