Hey Guys, In this video Im winding my way north into New York State again. I climb up and over The Shawangunk Mountains and make my way to Gardiner New York, where I pick up The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. This is another Bike Packing adventure with a loosely planned route, sort of aiming for Vermont but not sure where im going to end up. Sometimes that makes an adventure a bit more interesting to me or it gives me the ability to be more flexible. Theres lots to see up and im trying to see it all, New York is always a pleasure to ride. The roads and trail systems are designed really well and easy to navigate.
Stay tuned for much more to come.

I like the style of your touring. I don't like the regimented schedule of having to be at a certain place at a certain time. I like the challenge of not knowing where I'm going to stay. Yes, it can lead to some hardship but that just makes for more memories.

Awesome, glad you like what you see. Sometimes you have to roll the dice. It’s not like you won’t be able to sleep that night, a nice spot always pops up….and I love the beating.

Just did all the sections in Vermont that you were looking at. A lot of the flood damage on the roads has been cleaned up. There are a few washed out sections, but mainly the damage is residual on people's properties. It was a blast and I can't wait to do Vermont again

Love your vids. It gets me motivated to get out and go pedaling somewhere. How often do you need to eat and what types of food do you eat to keep your calories up for all those miles?
@TravelingThru222
@TravelingThru222 Год назад
I try to eat every 20 miles or so, diet is a weird subject. I try to eat healthy in everyday life, but when I step on the bike I’m not hungry for broccoli and rice, I want gummy worms and bagels. I feel anything goes when you’re trying to make distance. I wouldn’t be the best barometer for healthy diet advice. I eat anything and everything on the road, the more calories the better.

@@TravelingThru222 thanks. I have spent a ton of time climbing in the gunks but despite having a bike pass for many years attached to my climbing pass, I never really biked there. Looking for dry bikepacking options as our virtually snow less winter malingers into snowy spring mucking things up.

How often do you encounter asshole/inattentive drivers while riding on the shoulders? You feel safe generally?
@TravelingThru222
@TravelingThru222 Год назад
I never really encounter A-hole drivers and I always feel safe. I also think it could be a matter of perspective. I feel cyclists can tend to have an entitled attitude, there’s a time and place to be riding a bike in the middle of the road. Be safe.
