It took us a couple of days. But this dog is super confident and pretty fearless to trying new things. Just go at your dog's pace: if she seems at all nervous, slow down and help her feel really confident before moving on. The last thing you want is for your dog to be panicking while you're biking down the road.

Great question! Use whatever motivates your pup. Some likes treats, some like toys, some like affection. Just figure out what keeps him engaged and use that!

He wasn't full trained yet, so I didn't want to close the carrier at the end because he probably would have panicked and tried to escape. Every dog is different, though, so it could be just fine for your dog!

It's going to depend on your dog, but I would start with a really short period and then slowly build up to more time. We want to make sure that your dog is comfortable and relaxed before you get 15 minutes from home on a bike with a dog that is panicking. So start around the block, then two blocks, and slowly increase time and distance until you are both very confident. You should definitely be able to work up to 20 minutes as long as you practice!

This is just a double trailer for kids. We put a solid bottom in it for support and then added a thin cushion to help with the bumpy ride!

Copper Ridge Dog Training I would love to see the bottom. Did you guys use plywood or something else? I am just starting to teach my 3 month old puppy to go in and out of the trailer. I’ve been using “in” “out” and “stay” but maybe I should try this instead he’s chill as long as he has a bone or treats in it but have to tried biking yet just moving it back and fourth! I need to teach him place first though if I switch to this method

@@lisagaedike741 yes it's just a piece of plywood that we cut down to size to lie across the supports, and then a soft mat over the top for him to sit on. I would highly recommend the place command regardless simply because it will teach really great impulse control. It's also great when you can simplify your dog's vocabulary with fewer commands to ease any confusion. We have several videos on starting to teach the command, so I'd recommend starting there. Three months is such a great age to start teaching this, but I wouldn't expect too much duration for another month or so as he matures. Good luck!
