Pack an automobile sheepskin chamois!! A chamois absorbs 5-10 times its weight in water. They are GREAT for drying tents, tarps, etc. I used my chamois to dry my daily laundry. By laying a wet shirt on top of the chamois and rolling both up, and then kneading them, the shirt will come out dryer than the wash machine spin cycle... Enjoy...
Good video, great attitude. I really appreciated the hand-washing tip, and that you credited someone else for it. We pass these things on and I will now credit you for it. It can be tough but rewarding, this road. I hope joy finds you some times.
I have a qu: it’s another one about bike security - when you go to the supermarket for food, drink, gas and supplies, what do you do with all the things you carry on your bike? I hope you still pick up my qu as it’s 2 months after your video released - I’ve only just discovered your channel and I think it’s brilliant. I want to cycle from north to south of France and then back; I want to do it for charity, so your videos are inspiring me😊
Hey John! I always leave my bike in front of the supermarket while doing grocery shopping. In some location I don't have a good gut feeling letting my bike stay outside and then I just continue riding to the next supermarket. And of course, I also lock it ;)
@@giantcheerio I'm glad people have their own decisions. Sometimes really bad ones tho.. I hope you dont need to learn it the hard way. Accidents happens.
Hi! Great videos thanks for putting them up! I noticed at around 2:30 mark that your ground cloth seems to have gathered a lot of water! I dont want to be too forward, but you should make sure your ground cloth is 100% under your tent and not peeking out from any edges. Also keep the rain fly staked as far out as possible. Then the rain will (hopefully) not hit the ground cloth and gather underneath you! Cheers and Good luck!
Great bicycle touring video! I can relate to a lot of your "missions" as I'm also a very passionate bicycle traveller. Greeting s from Canada. New subscriber here 😉
YES! Eating when you are Hungry Is Important 😉🙏😎! I live in the Tucson Arizona Desert 🏜️ and staying hydrated! Plus having Sodium, Potassium and Electrolytes in my water to keep from Cramping Up! 👍
Hi. I watched most of your videos but I couldn’t find what I was looking for: where does your name “Giant Cheerio” come from? Also, great work! Keep up! Stay safe! ✊ Thanks
Reluctantly subscribed as I’m jealous you are doing better than me - but your videos are extremely engaging and you deserve everything! So hope you do well, saludos!
You are awesome! I’m brand new to this but so far I’ve got 500 miles and 3 weeks along the Coast of California.. I love it and I’m all in full time! Do you ever come out to the United State’s?
PLEASE wear your helmet ALL the time, I have a friend who didn't always wear a helmet, the time he needed to wear it he didn't. He has brain damage...especially since you are filming while riding, be safe! Cheers.
Sorry about your friend. I had a fall going normal bike path speed, and cracked my helmet. Broken collar bone, scrapes etc. The doc said my helmet really saved my ass. I agree but until you crash, it’s hard to understand. Cheers from Chicago!
Stop talking about helmets. This is not bike racing. I know a man who had 2 car crashes. On both his head was the most severely injured body part, even though both cars had all safety features. Coma for 5 days on the 1st crash and death from head injury on the second crash. If all car drivers wore integral helmets similar to Formula 1, I am sure this man would be alive. So unless you want people and all passengers on cars to wear Formula 1 helmets, stop imposing them. Just mind your own business and let people be free and happy. Non sporting cycling is a safe activity. Driving a car and crashing at 50 km/h or more, is not.
I don't wear a helmet 24/7. It's important to save the head but when I cycle almost all day long I don't wear it on bike lanes and euro vélos. That's my choice and that is how I handle the helmet thing
@@gonperes Your right it’s not racing and I’m guessing my neighbor was in the state of mind when she popped out to shops one morning about five years ago. She died within five meters of her garden gate! She cracked her skull on the kerb when she came off her bike without a helmet. Stop telling people to be dumb about safety like yourself!
Came here to say the same thing. A friend of mine had a crash and he is still with us only because of his helmet. There is really no reason to risk not having it on, considering how little of an inconvenience it is. Even if it's not a matter of life or death could prevent major injuries. A channel dedicated to bikepacking should promote safe riding at all times
There are a lot of channels that can show you how to pack your bike The more I study other people’s way of packing a bike it seems like we are all doing it the same way 😁
Passing your videos in to my niece it will encourage her to ride a bike. Can you do a video on your editing ( you say your using your phone to edit ? ) sounds a bit of a effort compared to a laptop. Nice videos interesting locations and well presented for sure.
Hey there, I am using my phone to edit pictures and videos for Instagram. I could never ever edit a YT video on my phone. Da vinci resolve is the software I use to edit these vids. Cheerio!🙃
Thanks for sharing this video! I once had a Tooth 🦷 Pulled when I was younger and my Nana told me put a Tea Bag in the empty Space to stop the Bleeding! 🤔 It worked better than the Gause the Dentist gave me? 👍✌️♥️🙏 Peace ✌️and Love 💖 from your friend James in Tucson Arizona Desert 🏜️
@@giantcheerio I guess, you're using a lightweight lock. Lol, just realized I'm asking you for info that might help others steal your bike. But I actually only asked out of interest, because everyone faces the same problem and bicycle theft is really bad in some regions/cities. If feasible, I'd probably try to shop in more rural corner shops.
My question would be how do you do to not be scared camping alone? I'm always terrified of animals and more recently people got into my head that I could have my stuff stolen even if that was not a thing I would not be scared about.
I used to fear the same things when I first started solo bikepacking but I've had nothing but good experiences. I lock my bike to my hammock straps at night so I can feel if someone is trying to steal my bike (locking it against a tree will also work). I also sleep with all of my valuable items and an emergency bottle of pepper spray. Clean up all food and food packaging so you don't attract animals and be sure not to keep any food in your tent or hammock. Try to camp away from roads or trails where people may pass by in the night. I know it's different between men and women but these are things that have helped me!
ooh I am scared from time to time. Especially when I hear nature sounds around my tent at night. But I always tell myself that I am in the middle of nowhere and well hidden. Also most of the time I am soooo tired that I just can't help it and fall asleep real quick.
Und dann wollte ich gerne noch dieses tolle Video teilen, mit tollen Tipps für Trockenmahlzeiten ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z52pOktn46I.html
Bandanas are great for wiping down wet gear, as towels and weigh nothing. Great fun little vid. Subscribed. Keep filming and riding! You are a gorgeous person too. But no helmet? Not judging just curious why not
Hey there :) you're not the only one asking about the helmet. All I can say is that I chose to wear my helmet on busy roads but i just dont feel comfortable wearing it all day long every singke day. It's sweaty and my head starts itching. So I take it off on bike lanes and quite areas
I think this is more #biketouring no? Bikepacking typically involves some off-road, rugged biking. Your setup looks like you stay on smooth surfaces and focus more on the travel part than on the biking part. What do you think about that?
I think that's not a question worth thinking about. Bikepacking/ biketouring / whatever. The important thing is to get on the bike and keep on pedaling
@@giantcheerio It IS worth thinking about for the people who are interested in bikepacking and not biketouring, who don't want to see results that are irrelevant to them. Like tour de france racing results when I'm looking for dirt bike videos. It's not whatever...
