The secret to surviving th kick back is to let your leg go COMPLETELY limp as soon as the kickers down all the way. I have an old 49 Panhead the the distributor is locked on full advance and she kicks like a demon on PCP whose having a bad trip! Every time she kicks me, the kicker tries to launch me to the mooning, but with my leg totally limp, my kne just slams into my shoulder violently. If I HADN'T figured that little secret out then I would have either been thrown over the bars LONG ago!
An old flathead like that used to have a “spark advance” on the left grip. Without advancing the spark, you would be launched over the handlebars 😳. I guess she’s using an electronic ignition for this sled.
Yeah, super expensive in Japan. Registration is based on engine capacity. I lived in Japan for 2 years. Hardly ever saw anyone riding big bikes: 1 litre bikes etc, because of crazy expensive registration. Mid size, naked style bikes were really popular. Also makes sense when the legal speed limit is 40 kilometres per hour on general roads and level crossings for trains are everywhere (often just a bamboo pole that lowers across the road combined with really annoying bell ringing). Roads with higher speed limits are often very expensive toll roads. So I guess that slow roads means that suicide shifts are not quite so dangerous. Anyway the Japanese are mad for most things American. I got to ride a few really mad Japanese bikes owned by some Bosuzoku guys I knew. Bosuzoku are like a kind of Japanese biker, not like MC's in Europe/America/Australia etc. Just like to ride around, at night especially, generally waking the neighbourhood and disturbing the peace. If and when the police show up they disappear real fast at the last moment. Small quick bikes were handy. They would strip off the fairings due to inevitable stacks resulting from escaping cops by riding through parks, gardens, sidewalks, whatever. Those dudes were hilarious. Do all kinds of stupid stuff: put their handlebars on upside down; really loud exhaust; throw firecrackers around, but like everywhere in Japan you're not going to get a punch in the face.
Half the time they pay a premium to get parts shipped out there. I have no idea how they do it lol if we pay a shit load for older parts they're paying double to triple.
It's a good thing she learned never straight leg a Kickstart you'll break your leg ankle or your foot if it's not quite in tune timing-wise. I'm old school but it has happened a lot in the past where when they kick start the Harley engine it would actually throw them over the top of the bike, maybe even breaking your knee or your leg or ankle or foot. Never straight leg a Harley-Davidson if you're trying to tune it. I'm just saying.
@@claysmith782 shut up , cause you experience don’t mean you won’t fly over the handle bars Bcs of your weight, I can see she does know what she’s doing but shit happens
@@marcusstella6656 sorry not a WL. Look at the kicker cover is for a big motor. All the WLs had a finned cam cover but a most ULs had a smooth one. I hope this helps. BTW I ride a 52 WLA
Every guy assumes this because heaven forbid, a girl's got keys to a badass ride of her own and actually knows how to handle it.~smh~ I don't know if the bike belongs to her or not. All I know is that I'm a well-seasoned biker chick of roughly the same size and build. I've had three different motorcycles since getting my license 16 years ago, and they've all seen several thousands of miles of road year after year.
She knew how far to crank the motor over to just the right point before she kicked it. This is no easy to teach anyone. I’m pretty sure she’s done it before☺️
That's not a kick start, that's a stomp start lol. Great bike though, i love my Honda Rebel 500 but i'd love to ride a bike like that someday. The high handlebars look fun.

That is a HD EL Flathead...pre 1950. Low compression engine. This type of engine was used and after during WWII by the US army. Reliable engine but not fast. 👍👍👍👍
@@nativej1986 lol. It's still easy to start. I can start it by hand . Won't even kick it. I start a Honda CB750 FOUR SOHC by hand just to show off all the time. Grab the kick and just shove it down. Flathead . I never owned one yet. I have pans, shovels, ironheads, one evo and a twin cam. Couple of Hondas. Couple of yamaha. And a old triumph. All of them are choppers except my dyna and my fxr. Choppers are just more fun. Kick starting gives ya a connection to your machine. Pushing a start button. Anyone can push a button. Tell ya what though, I know a woman has a yamaha single cylinder. 500 CC I think. Kick only. That thing will break your leg!
I know , for those of us who own and ride classic Harleys we know she did great. I always prime kick my 1200 flh then find tdc and voila. Must be tuned good though which that flatty is. Worst us when the kicker skips and it hurts your knee.
Military surplus bike from the 50s and 60s. The WLA flathead. You could get one for a hundred bucks back then. A bikers favorite. Original Springer front forks. Original frame. This bike had big fenders as well. And a bigger gas tank.
This isn't a WLA. It's a bike made from an aftermarket parts catalog. MAYBE the engine came from one. And the front end. But everything else is a mix & match to build this generic style chopper.
I don't know how you guys are doing it that easy I know of guys in the past who got their knee broke if that thing kicks back your knees going over your head
Even So do you know how to kick start a harley? it dosent take strength there is a specific way to start it, its actually easier to kick start that most bikes if you do the right steps@@shootinnscootin5545
Thank heaven when it does start...you don't want to be on a time line when using one for real transportation.I've got an electric start on all mine now.
Any naysayers...check it out close...the chick isn't some 200 lb brawler...she barely weighs a buck...and that is 74 cu in flathead...I'm in Her corner all day long!!
props for a girl who kicks ANY bike, BUT......this one IS a flathead, side valve motor, pretty low compression. Most KIDS could probably kick it, once it gets past the compression stroke that is! lol
She touched her face in relief at the end.. Because she didn’t get kicked back.. It’s a nerve wracking experience.. even for the big boys! She is a true champ!❤
Can she even Ride this Bike at all? Doesn't seem Like she's big enough to touch those handlebars and the Seat at the same time. Still impressive how she manages to Kickstart this absolute monster
She has guts. Lol she barely has the weight to kick it over. She better hope it never kicks back or she is going over the handle bars with a broken leg!!!!
@@JesusLives889 I've been using kicker geared HDs for 39 years all built by me. It's gonna take one decompressed kick on that motor and she is either gonna brake her leg or dislocated her knee. Maybe then she will learn. By the way you should get an original name.
@@JesusLives889 Your absolutely 💯correct on that observation,👏 break, I'm surprised you didn't gig me for the word dislocated instead of dislocate. Thank you sir
Be careful on your motorcycle and I like to motorcycle but be safe. Because my papa's, he just died in a motorcycle accident. Go actually, but do you understand problems like grandma
Watching this terrifies me. My crf450 has ruined my confidence in kickstarting bikes so I can only imagine how hard this one would hurt if it kicked back.
