ive been mountain biking for a very short period of time, id say about 2months. i love it so much. im addicted to the point where i changed the wallpaper on my phone and laptop AND watch videos till 3am!!! im also learning how to bunny hop. any suggestions on what i should focus on next to progress as a fellow mountain biker? please and thank u so much for the amazing vids uve made

Took my 9 year old out on some single track and some small drops yesterday (first time doing real off road for him). Showed this this today and the explanations are really clear, he really got it. Great visuals really show what he's talking about. Excellent.

This is one of the best videos by Bikeskills. Greg really knows how to explain things and keeps it simple and down to earth. Great footage and skill examplified. I think I agree with what he said based on my personal experience. I think he covered a lot of the points that need to be covered like body positioning, scanning, and recognizing your limits. I like his bike too. =D

I have done almost the same except for the rainy part (I think, may be that too). I now go around them. Given the technicality of the trail and my equipment I chose to avoid them cause I know what I'm in for if don't.

It's a Blur 4X. A really great all-around bike, even though it was designed as a 4X, DS, and MTX racer.

@Fourcrosser95 Greg's DH race bike is the Santa Cruz carbonV-10. His "play" bike is the Santa Cruz carbon Nomad and his cross country bike, the Santa Cruz Blur XC.

You should setup a training session! I've been riding for some years now but I haven't dared yet to execute those kind of drops.

where is this place it looks amazing to ride. i live in england and there is nowhere near as epic stuff as this.

I improved the most decending by -looking ahead, and pulling in my inside foot on a turn. Now i just need to rember to lower me seat.

Great explanations, wish I'd come across this when I started :P Good track too. Sounds like Pelican or Red Sparrowes or one of those like them.

I've been doing biking for a number of years now, and although I've done both Downhill tracks and used full suspension bikes before, I've just got my own one - A Commencal Met v.6. The only problems: I'm lack of saftey gear (although I have seen an Evo going cheap) And there is no where to ride around where I live that I can fully tap into the v.6's potential. :( Either way, simply the best damn sport in the world! :D

@manabiker I think he made the right choice there. He was talking about scanning the trail and picking the right lines in that segment. On that section its downhille to a 90 degree left turn. He slid sideways down the bottom half of the hill so he would be lined up for the trail at the bottom. Sure technically, its good not skid your tires, but it seems to me he picked the fastest way to get through there. Of course I'm from TX very no DH here. More rollercoaster xc

@ivanrcks95 you can use any bike for riding downhills a but a bike built for down hill will only usually only have 9 gears a long travel fork and frame (8 inches of travel or 200mm) and 8 inch rotors ( the disk part of your disk brake. What bike did you get? and i have a feeling its not a down hill bike if you dont know( the bikes are like 40-50 lbs and cost in the thousands)

hm...probably the best tip Know your limits bad tip if u ask me is don't look straight down if u are going fast its ok but if u are slower that is area scanning and 1 thing more g-outs are like stairs (if u go fast on them) he has explained g-outs badly g force will take ur body in mentioned position automatic (front wheel down,body at rear)

Theres also a place called glentress near a place called selkirk in the scottish borders check it out its epic and is great for all types of riders from rookies to pro and its cheap and has a cafe to relax in after a hard days biking and has a shop and a place to get your bike serviced

they are practically the same thing. Freeride and Downhill are extremely similar. Generally DH bikes uses a dual crown suspension fork while a FR one uses a single crown one. The similiarities doesn't end there.

what about the bike type we should have? i am thinking of starting this kind of extreme sport which looks amazing. but i am not sure what are the must-have parts of the bike. can you please help me in this one?

What is the price difference between a freeride bike and a downhill bike? And can a freeride bike be used to ride downhill as well? Thanks for any answer:)

adjust your suspension . loosen or harden it. just try the trial and error. and use a pedal with a better grip on it.

Great video. Next time please bring the music's volume lower. I had difficulty hearing some parts.

@samburger077 This way your seat is level when you're going downhill, and its easier to move you weight backwards past the saddle if the bulk or the seat is lower.

Looks like Henry Cowell and maybe some parts of Roaring Camp? Too lush to be Wilder, I think. Went to school at UCSC and love redwood forest single track. We used to drop down Lock 'em up and into Henry Cowell.

@laborantiazzurro When you ride in a trail with rocks section..well I suggest U to use the full!

in my country... ** Freeride are on circuits or streets, frame are rigid and very low, light fork suspension.... ** DH are on montains, forrest, dirt roads thats right use dualcrown fork and rear suspension and michelin tires 26x2.80 is what I use, is not a rule

im looking to buy a new mountain bike and i havent bought 1 sence i was like 12, now 17 5 foot 8 what size bike should i be riding ?

@ivanrcks95 i doubt you have a dh bike because i think youd know but dh bikes usually have 9 gears 8 inch disks (for the brakes) 8 inches of suspension travel and weigh between 40 and 50 lbs ( they also sell for thousands)

Can anyone tell me why downhill/freeride riders have their seats tilted so far back? I was always taught to have the seat perfectly level, but I'm a trail rider.
