A detail like the angle adjust for the lever is a very welcomed feature in my eyes. I'd rather have it, because having a lever you feel you need to push very far to actuate can be an annoyance. This is a simple fix for that.
The Funn UpDown dropper post remote has the same kind of angle adjustment and can be mounted left or right, under or above the handlebar, and is available in a variety of colors, even purple. It will also work with posts with cable stops at the post or lever end.
If my Shimano remote wears out, or gets damaged, I’ll definitely try the bikeyoke remote. No reason to swap it otherwise… Thanks for the infinite product information and tests, solves a lot of questions, before I go make a personal investment 👍🤘
I've been using a Funn UpDown dropper post remote. What got me using the Funn remote was because I wanted a remote in the color orange, they come in other colors as well.
Great video as always! FYI - the Shimano one is horrendous with any droppers that requires a high level of cable pull (e.g. OneUp). MT500 came with my bike and by far the worst lever I've paired with my OneUp. Lever feels incredibly stiff and requires a long pull at the same time. Switched to the Wolf Tooth Light Action or the OneUp v3 Lever (or this Alpha lever would work) - anything with a longer lever.
Nothing but bike yoke dropper and remotes for me. I’ve been running 2 revives for 5 years with zero issues and silky smooth operation. Smooth and fast return with a nice pop at the top!
Bike Yoke were the only ones I could get adaptors to fit my SRAM NX shifter & dropper on my new SAINT brakes, they worked like a charm so I'd recommend them!
I use a BIKEYOKE REVIVE 2.0 on my Nicolai G1. Highly recommend this dropper. Very high quality and super easy servicable as well. A set and forget product.
I previously owned this remote, before the Shimano one, to me the biggest advantage of the Japanese one is the return spring, it gives a smooth and quality feeling to the actuation. No spring in the BikeYoke.
The only thing about MTB that makes me mad is the absurd price of stuff.. 65€ for a remote??? That should be less than half the price to be a fair price!
The Shimano mt500 is 15€, it works really well and has a nice shape, all you need. Only minus being no matchmaker option, but I'm sure there are some adapters for that. 40+€ for a lever is ridiculous and totally unnecessary, a high end option, sure, but they all cost that much...
Funn has a nice lever as well. Since I have the amazing ability to snap the barrel adjuster, it’s the only one that still works even with the barrel adjuster broken
I'm suprised there's no reviews of the Crank Brothers Highline Premium Gen2 remote. Really versatile with 360° lever adjustment, higher leverage than previous one and replaceable rubber thumbpad.
You can't beat the rubber pad and Machining on the pnw loam remote. It just feels like it's on another level of quality compared to anything else on the market
I went with a WolfTooth lever for my latest build and it’s absolutely incredible. But I still miss my Loam lever on my last rig (that I’ve since sold) and am seriously thinking about switching back. That rubber pad feels so good.
Hey, question: so scott twinloc 2 looks very nice, but I wonder if you came across something that does the same. so below handlebars, two step lockout and then dropper. nice review
You know it's a good product when you use it without thinking and it works every time. That's what I get from my Wolftooth. But if I needed to get a replace I would certainly try the Bike Yoke. But why spend the money and fix something that is not broken
I use Reverb which came as the default dropper post with my bike and it works perfectly for me. Did really inḿage this thing can work badly for somebody. Are there really problems that require bigger leverage or anything else? Does it mean the actuator is that tight? Or what exactly people should look at when they search for remote control for a new dropper post? Thanks for the review. As usual perfect covering of all details.
I use the Shimano lever and it provides the cleanest look on the handlebars... If you use Shimano equipment, why use different look and instalation for the dropper lever...
Stay clear of this remote! It snapped my cable. I'm not the only one to report this, there's quite a few reports of the lever fraying or snapping the cable. There's a serious design flaw with it, and it could be dangerous.
Personally the New v2 oneup lever is the best available, one of the only ones on the market with an actual thumb shape. the PNW is easy second, the bikeyoke lacks grip and position
