Living in China for decades, I feel that the biggest change is that the rivers and streams have become clean and clear. The situation of sewage flowing across the river and all kinds of garbage floating on the river has completely disappeared.
We have people that wade out into the flood control "river" by my home in Nanhu International Subdivision and clean out any debris or stuck logs. When it floods they also remove the heavy sand sediment that deposits in the walkways. That has to be a tough job.
The get it done attitude is completely different than the west. The west just talk about it. And if anything is good, they brag about it. If it is bad, they blame it on someone else.
Great to see these glimpses of the real China. After my 2 extensive visits in 2015 I came home and tried to communicate my positive feelings about China and its people and culture to people here. It mainly falls on deaf ears. I love what you are doing and am somewhat encouraged that you have over 100,000 subscribers seeing what you see. Thankyou
You may have made the bike tour on your own, but rest assured there will be thousands of happy viewers to accompany you, living vicariously in front of their computer screen. Thanks, always a pleasure!
Though i dont know Katherine personally but I've watched so many of her videos and so i kinda know her character and personality and so IMHO she should run for US president.. She will bring peace and harmony to this world.
Hi Katherine, this is going to be awesome joining you on this trip. It is so comforting to know that you have no issues at all doing this alone and that you know that you will be safe and loved by the people you meet on the way. I am sure you will be invited to many rural home. Have a great journey and keep well.....watching you forever from Europe.
What a thoughtful comment! It brings back memories of when I first drove across the border from Canada to the US. I vividly recall the kind advice given to me by the US customs officer, who advised me to avoid using gas stations in the city after dark. on the other hand, I have no safety concerns in China or Canada......
The scenery at 5:04 is truly beautiful. At 6:36 you say: "these geese are standing...". Noooo - they are there waiting to greet you, can't you tell, Katherine!
Awesome accomplishment! 你真厉害! From one American in China to another... thanks for such a great video showcasing the beauty of China. Inspiring me to do a similar trip.
The best part of your videos is your sense of humor, I barely made it to 2:00 mark when I had to rewind to hear the karaoke entrance award part for second time.
I wish I was you Katherine 😂 Its heartening to see how many environmental improvements have been carried out in recent years. I hope they continue to preserve the traditional canal dustricts. And yes, driving to an expensive gym to walk on a treadmill really eptimises wastefulness...
When I visited Hangzhou 34 years ago, there were no high buildings nor sky scrapers. The river was not so clean neither. I have one the best memories from the city.
We see you riding your red stallion, beautiful and interesting places, natural surroundings, a little interaction with locals, some animals especially a chicken…yup, definitely a witty Katherine’s video we missed so much! :D
Yes! Mainland China is, unlike the frog Tai🐸island in its southeast, where a gunman shoot 88 times and the government officials didn't take care at all
Please be extra careful. Not because of bad people but the unpredictable traffic. My ex-sister-in-law got involved with a hit and run while cycling in Suzhou 2 months ago. Fortunately she’s mostly ok now although still with memory lost. Be extra vigilant. Many followers will be with you all the way. Enjoy.
The key rule to driving (or biking) in China is to be able to stop at any time, for anything. I recently bought a motorcycle and at times it feels like real life GTA.
I love many things in China and that's where I came from. I love the fact that people use park to exercise, singing, playing music in Chinese cities but I absolutely hate that they use megaphone to amplify their music and singing to bother others. Another thing I cannot stand is stores and shopping stands' using recording device to non-stop broadcasting of what they sell. These are 2 of the biggest pet peeves I have about China.
Wonderful video! I think that this bike tour will be fantastic, as it allows you to get to know many different places and people better. Anyway take care and have a great tour! Thank you very much for sharing this awesome adventure.
There is no prefect couple. Forget about the personal pride, respect. I believe you guys love each others, just give him a call, say you miss him and ask him to come over to see you. Work together for the future.
Katherine is back on the road.🚲😎 I'm looking forward to the many new videos with drama, fun, joy and adventure from China. Have fun with these great adventures, all the best 1920 KM to go ➡
Your videos remind me of my perception of China as a kid, when I would go back to visit. Just wonder about all the alleyways, buildings, rivers, people. It's very nostalgic. Thank you.
after watching so many different youtubers, i have determined your videos give me the most updated and accurate description of the places you have visited(april 17??) thank you, and much appreciated. love from canada.
Excellent reporting Katherine with the beautiful, tranquil scenery & clean alley ways , rivers/lakes . Truly your an inspiration to all foreigners or expats of different ethnic background to see China in a loving , peaceful way promoting cooperation, ecological projects making it a success story ! More success.
Well delivered Katherine. Love your narration and how you put these pieces together. China is looking spectacular in the suburbs. A 180 cleanup of that section of the globe. Nature enhances the scenery after humans take responsibility. It's a beautiful landscape with a rich history of environmental changes. Definitely, I'd like to see the farming island too. Maybe a bonus after you get through your 2000km journey 🤔 🏊 (kidding). Thanks for sharing. You're an awesome and beautiful individual. Looking forward to your next video ❤️. -S.Lim
Wow! This is epic! You are one adventurous lady Katherine! D detours are so interesting. Rural China can be so interesting. Keep it up and keep us updated on your adventure!
I support your noble work as environmentalist. Please educate the local to take care of mother nature because everyone of us will go back to Nature one day in life. Life is infinity and embrace nature is human biggest hope.
Hi Katherine, I know that China is the safest country, but, I still remind you to put the safety first, and enjoy your journey! A Chinese is watching you from Canada.
That's so cool! Love seeing your journey. My husband and I just got home from a night time bike ride along the Qinhuai river here in Nanjing. We were also saying how nice the river parks are! Love that about China!
Tianjin-born American here, I really appreciate the chill but still interesting content! It's kind of like keeping in touch with a friend that still lives in China and it relieves my homesickness :)
I am looking forward to the Asian Games (the second largest sporting event after the Olympics) to be held from 23rd Sep to 8th Oct 2023 in Hangzhou. Are you by any chance super excited to be at the right place at the right time in Hangzhou ? Lucky you !!!
I wish I could say yes but as someone who doesn't even watch the Olympics, it's not really my thing LOL but since they are making it a green asian games this year I have already had some projects for work that are related to it and stuff related to it will definitely show up at some point in this bike series
Thanks for your video! Your bike looks good. Be sure always wearing the helmet when you are biking. My helmet (s) save my life at least twice (I don't know why it's so easy that my head always hits the ground in a serious cycling accident.). If your bike is not a e-bike, please make sure you have good foods with both nutrition and energy, and have a good rest day after several days bike ride in a row. All the best, good luck and have fun!
Love your spirit and love of life without ouside inflluence living your best life. I have followed your channel since the begining, carry on and be you.
Whao, 2,000 km is like travelling throughout west Malaysia.. But how you manage between work and travel. So much could see by cycling than traveling on a car. Have a safe and pleasant training.❤
Best wish, thank you for sharing to your wonderful 2000km biking journey around the province in the EAST. Adventure and courage, Kat, you are amazing!!
If you miss Anji County, it would be a big loss, I personally experienced the transformation from a poor town with sewage flowing and garbage filled mountains to a paradise.
