Awesome both of you, just loved the music and Bikos tricks very fun to watch, you should be so proud of all your time you have spent teaching such a clever bird and you can just see how much fun Biko is having, just like extra cool playtime with you :)
aww how adorable! he is so cute & very clever. I miss owning a bird! those and rabbits are my fave animals! some day, i will have some rabbits, lovebirds & parrots & i think i will train my birds to do tricks like this. it would be so awesome
hey! lovebirds esp matured ones can take quite a long time to get aquainted and to trust you. usually those that is already a pair will naturally stick to each other and bond for life, it can be difficult to bond, but not saying or putting you down, alot of effort is needed for them to trust you. i have a friend, her lovie took 3 years to finally give in to her. but if you show ur heart and have alot of patience im sure it will work out. start with hand feeding them food to bond to you.
My bird isn't too open to new things since I never taught him young. I'm slowly teaching him how to handle new things, he's making slow progress, and he's showing more curiosity than fear now!
Hi Jessy, i usually dont have sunflower seeds in my bird's diet, and only use for training.. sunflower seeds are like catnip to cats. so its all started with me teaching how to turn upside down when i saw him doing it in his cage, so i placed him on my finger and showed the seed below so he will reach it, and only giving him the seed once he reaches the top of the finger. from then he more or less got the message to "follow the seed " Its pretty hard to explain in words!
I was just going "awwwhh" throughout this whole thing. My family have had 1 generation of love birds since before I was even born, all peach faced and sadly their last children passed away but now we're going to start an all new generation and we're getting a few week old love birds from a pet store very soon (peach faced) I can't wait!
Hi, do you have any tips to help me out. I recently got 2 lovebirds and they are both terrified of me. I know I have to take it slow but what do you recommend? And for the tricks, how did you get him/her to do all of that? incredible!!!!
thank you for your kind words franz! biko is wing clipped for safety as i stay high rise :O lovebirds are naturally active little bodies! haha! Biko is coming to 3 years old this april. oh! what coloration are they!
To anyone complaining about clipped wings get over yourself! If done properly it doesn't take the birds capability to fly completely away. It just makes it so it can't get as far. It's for safety reasons!!!
So awesome, made me smile! Just got a Lovebird a few days ago. We are trying to gain his trust. I would love to be able to train him soon. Hopefully it won't take too long for him to trust us so we can work with him. How long do you work with him each day?
Absolutely adorable! Thanks for sharing!! I have lovebirds, too (one in the same colour mutation as yours). Inspires me to want to teach my babies something, too :)
I bought them from Daiso! These were found in the kids toys section! Nope i dont use clicker training, more of verbal reward such as "good boy!!!" and sunflower seeds :)
