The year was 2001... I was a junior in high school... This video reminds me how great music was and the style in my days.. To me this was the peak of what the 90s gave us in the early 2000, hip hop wasn't crap, I had the 2001 chronic album(1 of the best rap album ever)neo soul was booming at that time artists like D'Angelo, Maxwell, musiq soulchild, Lauryn hill, Anthony Hamilton, Lucy pearl and many other great artist same out, great songs too... Then after like 2002/3 music just went down hill
Mike City does it again!!! And again! And again! That boy was FIYAH in the early to late 2000's. Bilal lyrics and production "Love It," Dwele lyrics and production, "I Think I Love You," Carl Thomas, lyrics and productions, "I Wish," Sunshine Anderson, lyrics and production on entire album but especially, "I've Heard It All Before," Jimmy Cozier, lyrics and productions, "She's All I Got." And that is all I can put on here from sheer memory along. He had many, many, many more hitz. God bless and peace unto all on this thread.
There's something about real soul. Songs like this and Soul Sista make you feel beautiful just as you are, make you love the brown skin you're in, and the beautiful brown man that appreciates his own. I don't think we ever realized the importance of artists like Raheem, Bilal, and those who sing from their SOUL.
preach I'm not a big listener of soul but the feeling gives u a rush ans I have favorite soul singers and yes these singers be Sanging and India and Jill so many others ima pay more attention to my soul brothers and sisters 😄😄😍😍😍

I know the feels sis, very sentimental..you feel good because of the joy it brings and a sense of sadness because you wonder if you will ever get those same moments again on that SAME LEVEL ...I pray that we do but even greater
Loving the scene in the video from 3 mins especially when he's carressing, showing love & appreciation for not only the woman but for the baby as well. He seems to be in love.I've always loved this song!

Album came out the time as Maxwell's 3rd album Now ,so I bought both I felt this was better but Maxwell's was more popular with the radio single Lifetime .
I was 25 when this dropped. Hanging out @ the happy hours after work in Philly. Then off the The Five Spot, Bluezette, Zanzibar Blue, Savannah's, etc. Magical time!!

Believe it or not, I had never heard of this brother til I saw his name being mentioned with the top R&B artists of the last century. So I then found Soul Sister I liked it so much that I posted it to my Facebook page. Trust me when I say I must have been under a rock back then! I may be in ministry but I still enjoy some soul music! Can I get a witness? Lol!!
Saw Bilal at the City Winery on the 29th of February. He performed Reminisce...and Common literally came running out to do his verse...amazing surprise. Amazing show. Amazing night. And Bilal is funny too!
I'm just now getting introduced to Bilal and I'm in Love. Just like I fell in Love with Lyfe Jennings, Anthony Hamilton, and John Legend. His voice is AmAZing.
4th grade in 2001 was so interesting I remember us being so sad because Aaliyah died and scared because of 9/11 but loving the neo soul artist of that time . This one of the most repeated songs back then ❤❤❤❤
I remember watching this video as a 9 year old when it came out - the summer of 2001......those were the days man! Music was still in its purest form then! What happened?!
