In a nation that has forced thousands of children to learn French throughout childhood and that offers government services firstly in French a majority of the time. And where no major politician can survive without speaking the language. How in gods name does the CAQ think this blatantly authoritarian law will somehow maintain the French language more than it has already? What a weird and twisted law trying to “maintain” a language of a region that overwhelmingly already speaks it and wouldn’t just die away in a couple of generations based on the societal importance this nation puts on it in the first place.

I found out today that I could lose my job. Not because of an inability to speak French, but because our business deals with a lot of international clients AND have lots of remote workers from around the world who joined during the pandemic. Thus we have to communicate in English. Our boss is already looking at moving operations to Alberta. Something I can't afford to do. Thanks Legault.

@@chouinardfrancais This problem wouldn't keep happening every year if Quebec had become it's own country and the rest of Canada actually was Canada as it was meant to be. There are so many unnecessary political and cultural problems that reoccur in this country because of Quebec because every year the people in Canada have to keep being mindful of these nonsensical attempts at Quebec trying to maintain regulation of it's cultural presence in this country. Social and political matters would probably run more smoothly in Canada if antics of Quebec didn't continue to hold back Canada's presence as good country with a strong democracy and distinct culture.

It is claimed that Canada has two official languages. However, only one province out of 10 and 3 territories has bilingual status, namely New Brunswick, to the detriment of the Francophone minority of these provinces and territories, which benefits from limited services, if only the number of Francophones justifies it; otherwise, everything is done in English. Only Quebec has French as its official language because its population is predominantly French-speaking, whose language and culture, unique in North America, are threatened with extinction in the medium term, due to the prominence of English all around ( Canada-USA). Why in English Canada do we not understand this? Why is it racist to pass a law that aims to protect these linguistic and cultural assets, which in no way threatens or deprives the English-speaking and allophone minorities of the province, which account for 12% of the population, the most pampered minorities in the world according to the UN.
