James William (Bill) Anderson III (born November 1, 1937 in Columbia, South Carolina) is an American country music singer, songwriter, and television personality. In his career, he has released more than forty studio albums, and has reached Number One on the country charts seven times: "Mama Sang a Song" (1962), "Still" (1963), "I Get the Fever" (1966), "For Loving You" (with Jan Howard, 1967), "My Life (Throw It Away If I Want To)" (1969), "World of Make Believe" (1974), and "Sometimes" (with Mary Lou Turner, 1974). Besides these, twenty-nine more of his singles have reached Top Ten.
One of the most successful songwriters in country music history, Bill Anderson was also a hugely popular singer in his own right, earning the nickname "Whispering Bill" for his soft vocal style and occasional spoken narrations.[1] Artists who have recorded his material include Ray Price, Connie Smith, Kenny Chesney, and George Strait.
Besides his career in country music, Anderson made several television appearances, including two stints as a game show host: The Better Sex (with co-host Sarah Purcell) in 1977, and the country music-themed quiz show Fandango (1983-1989). He has also hosted an interview show called Opry Backstage and a talent show called You Can Be a Star, and has made guest appearances on several other television series.

Bohemia Afterdark launched on TVs in 1982 and operated in Phoenix, AZ, but early history is unknown until 1990 when they moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1992 they began airing on KPDX Portland and then they move to KWBP in 1994. In 1995 they began airing on 22 Network One affiliates. In 1997 Network One shut down and the service moved to KOIN and in 2001, the service moved back to Phoenix, airing on KASW, then in 2002, moved to KPHO-TV. In 2003 they got their own station, KPHE-LP, at the time broadcasting on channel 19 in Mesa, Arizona, and changed their name to Bohemia Visual Music. KPHE moved to channel 44 in Phoenix in 2005.[2] Bohemia Visual Music changed their name to 24-7 Videos for a few months from mid-2005 to early-2006, then reverted to Bohemia Visual Music.

An utterly stupendous single that was also covered beautifully by Vic Dana. This was a hit for Bill in 1966. The vocal harmonies are provided by the late, great Jimmy Gateley, who sadly passed away in the 1980s. One of country music's all time masterpieces.

@Bill Anderson I can't remember not loving this music, I was born in 1965 and grew up on classic country music and all of the shows including Hee-Haw and loved how the stars would guest on those shows. So now I feel nostalgic for such simpler times.

thanks for the upload. Bill sometimes performs this song on the Opry. In your video description there's a minor error. Bill never hosted "You Can Be a Star". That talent show was hosted by Jim Ed Brown. I think Bill may have been a producer of that show but he wasn't the host.

What program is this from? That looks like Doodles Weaver with the clipboard off stage. There is also a clip of Johnny Cash from what looks to be the same program but I am not sure.

It is Doodles Weaver who was part of the Band of none other than Spike Jones. Doodles Weaver was also the guy who Played "Regis" who left his Protest Sign for "Gomer Pyle" just as "Mayberry" Townsfolk unfurled a "Mayberry Welcomes Gold Truck!" Banner in the Classic "Andy Griffith Show" Episode where "Barney" blabs about the incoming Gold shipment!😂🎤🚚🛣💲💰👮‍♂️📺B.W.
