There's one thing Belichick does better than anybody, and that's looking at an athlete and figuring out how best to fit them into a cohesive system. That becomes Your Job. And if you Do Your Job, BB looks after you and gives you wins and puts you in a position to succeed. Just Do Your Job.

Quite frankly, BB is the best man in all the major American sports at finding discarded and underrated value. Billy Beane gets all the press for Moneyball, but Belichick was doing it before Beane got famous for it, and he's still doing it, with a lot more success than Oakland ever had, a decade and change later.

Bill doesn't take inferior football players and make them great. He recognizes talent that others often don't see. For example, too many coaches are fascinated by sprint speeds and think those margins are everything, but BB knows football isn't track and that lateral quickness and the ability to change direction on a route and consistent mental focus trumps straight ahead speed when assessing football talent. The guys who do that well are great football players period.
