@@jameysummers1577 - and like they say about the best teams, their practices fall under the microscope. A lot of what you mentioned turned out to be bogus, but every team cheats, including yours. Do some research and you'll find the Pats are actually below the league average in this regard: Yourteamcheats is the name of the website. Have fun.
The dynasty is pretty much over. They haven't beat the real good teams this year and lost to the Dolphins! Brady has finally slowed down though they have no help at wide receiver. Regardless, it just doesn't look like Brady is having fun anymore. I'd put the odds he plays next year at 50/50. Beyond that he's not going to play in 2021.
Landon Only 6 Super Bowls! Jeez, that’s terrible! That’s only enough to tie an NFL all time history record within the span of one coaches career. No wonder the Patriots suck. Eagles are the better team, they beat them last year. Fly Eagles fly!
from the giants and winning a couple chips there, and going to a declining yet climbing team and trying to accomplish something, its not very hard to believe tbh w you. Then moving to the pats and having 10 plus win season for 10 seasons straight, winning a super bowl in his 2nd season w them and all those accomplishments, you might as well say they were glad to have known his expertise and skills on both dominating and struggling made the pats the team they are today, bill overcame alot.
Belichick began his coaching career in 1975, and by 1985 was the defensive coordinator for New York Giants head coach Bill Parcells. Parcells and Belichick won two Super Bowls together (XXI and XXV) before Belichick left to become the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 1991. He remained in Cleveland for five seasons, and was fired following the team's 1995 season. Belichick then rejoined Parcells, first in New England, where the team lost Super Bowl XXXI, and later with the New York Jets.
@@romiarkan450 maybe it was promised verbally just to get him in and once he was he saw they weren't willing to give it to him he did what they didn't expect
He saw the disfunction in the front office and said DEUCES! Leaving a job early and quickly is sometimes a bold and wise move. Well played Bill, well played. Bill = the real G.O.A.T.
like when Josh McDaniels said fuck it and bailed on Indy....and look at Indy...complete shit show...in fact they have been a shit show since they started deflategate... karma is truely a beautiful thing
TheRedvapor Parcells won 7 Superbowls in a 2 decade span? If Bill & Tom win this year which I have a feeling they will they would have won 7 Superbowls in 20 years and would have won in 3 separate decades '00s, '10s, & '20s! Do you know how insane that is. That may not happen ever again in any sport let alone the NFL!!!
"Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go become the head coach of one of the Jets division rivals and win six Super Bowls before the year 2020. Thank you."
That can actually be used correctly now cause he just got fired (or "mutually parted ways") by the Patriots. So you're right, can't wait to see where he goes next!😊👍🏻
Under Belichick, the Patriots have a regular-season record of 225-79-0. Belichick also has compiled a 30-10 record in the playoffs with New England, and 6-3 in Super Bowls. He has led the Patriots to 16 division titles, including five consecutive titles from 2003 to 2007 and ten consecutive titles from 2009 to 2018. Under Belichick, the team only missed the playoffs in 2000 and on tiebreakers in 2002 and 2008.
Alquan and in that time jets drafted Pennington Sanchez smith, plus a bunch of other goons, and signed testaverde fitz and a few more. The jets scouts even wanted to draft Brady 20 picks before the pats but Parcells declined
This has to be torture for any Jets fan. He's your coach for basically a day, he then resigns and he goes on to win 6 superbowls with a hated division rival. And he could still add more superbowls to the list
Rob Jadick well that and johnson didn’t actually buy the jets until a week after this. So basically he had no assurances of anything. Especially after being scarred by the lack of stability in Cleveland.
The Dynasty Continues no cle did not screw him but baltimore did. satan art modell assured him he would be coach in balto then fired him one week after the cowardly move.
It came down to that he felt much better with Kraft than he did with new jets owners...art modell left a scar , 1995 was a nightmare for bb. ...patriot fan
Yes indeed - and that was the one moment in the whole presser where Bill looked like he might actually betray some deep-seeded emotion. Just talking about Modell and that last year in Cleveland was painful. Thing was Belichick wanted that Cleveland Browns job more than anything. It’s hard to believe now, but in 1991 Browns were one of the NFL’s cornerstone franchises. They were the first real dynasty of the modern era, the best organization in pro football for decades. Their history was tangible - same uniforms, same glorious old stadium. Belichick loves NFL lore. The chance to carry on Paul Brown’s legacy was a dream come true. But Art Modell owned the team...and that experience was soul crushing. And I really do think Bill was hurt by the idea of the Browns leaving Cleveland...he was going to be the Paul Brown of his generation and it was starting to finally happen with the 11-5 season in 1994. Belichick was going to bring the glory back to Municipal Stadium. That dream died the first Sunday of November 1995. And I don’t think Bill fully recovered until he won the third Super Bowl in 2004. That was when the Pats became an actual dynasty, which was Bill’s dream in Cleveland.
Fun fact Bill Belichick coached the Jets for 7 days and 0 games: 6 days in 1997 and this one day in 2000 before resigning as “HC of the NYJ” on a napkin
Bill Belichick buttfumbled by accepting a head coaching position with the Jets, then gloriously unbuttfumbled by resigning on a paper napkin. The Jets buttfumbled by injuring Drew Bledsoe. - UrinatingTree
Belichick is the ex- head coach of the New York Jets, and The Jets player is the one who knocked off Drew Bledsoe resulting with Tom Brady 1st start in the regular season game in NFL, so basically The Jets builds The Patrots dynasty,...
I don’t blame Belichick for resigning. He was never the Jets’ first choice as head coach, and, as long as Parcells was there looming above him, his job would always have been in jeopardy.
I respect the shit out of that. I’m not a fan at all but I am a professional and when things aren’t right and you don’t feel that you have the ability to do your job the way you think it should be done then bail. Life is short and you will find your happy place if you keep trying!
I respect none of it, I’m a 25 year old jets fan who knows nothing but misery and didn’t even watch the super bowl this year but I guess that ended up a positive. I hate the Pats more than I love any team
Alex Mercer thats not it he didnt want to be under parcells. parcells wouldnt leave. belechik wanted to run the whole show with a stable ownership, the jets couldnt give him either. of the later, belechik had enough history of ownership instability with the great satan art modell so he wanted to get away from that.
@@meesalikeu His contract stated that he would automatically be head coach once Parcells retired. Bellichek was already talking to New England and was going to take that job when Parcells retired, his only option was to resign from the Jets. The ownership excuse is all lies. Some people think Parcells did it deliberately when he found out Bellichek was talking to New England.
This man is such a professional and truly loves his work. His honesty is very rare. He listened to his instincts and stayed true to himself. He was rewarded with 6 Superbowls and tremendous success.
The Giants organization were good to him and the Jets did this to him. That's why he nuked the Jets for the past 2 decades while he played the Giants with a soft spot so the Giants won 2 Superbowls against him. It makes sense guys think about it.
I still believe he became so great once he drafted and after started Tom Brady. If he can win one without Brady he will truly be one of the greatest coaches of all time.
I remember seeing this news story on ESPN when it happened. I sort of just laughed and said to my college roommate “Why is this news? He sucked as coach of the Browns so the Jets are probably better off anyways.” Put that right up there with my prediction of Ryan Leaf would be better than Peyton Manning as stupid shit I thought 20+ years ago.
Can't blame him. He obviously felt discomfort with the whole situation regarding the organization at the time and felt he would not be able to give the job his total effort. He is just doing what he feels is right for him. Life is too short.
You know, I always heard that this press conference was a train wreck. Now I know why. You could tell there was a lot of stuff he wanted to say but couldn't. I imagine this is why he's so tight lipped now with the media.
As I recall, asa Pats fan, we knew he was coming, but there wasn’t a ton of excitement about it, given his mediocre head coaching record, at the time. But, he was being honest about wanting to enter a stable situation, which the Krafts certainly provided. I mean, his previous owner, while a head coach was Art Modell, who not only moved the Browns, but has the distinction of having fired two of the five or so best coaches in history. Bob Kraft certainly didn’t do that, and Pats fans thank them both.
He wanted to step out from under the ominous shadow of Parcell's influence and get 100% control of football decisions on his "own" team. That was not going to happen with the Jets. At the time, Parcells was seen as a football coaching master and somewhat of a tyrant, and so it's easy to imagine him being reluctant to relinquish full control to a protégé. But Belichick was seen as a robotic defense guru who might potentially have significant shortcomings as a head coach and organizational leader, due to the mixed results in Cleveland and this perception that Parcells was the true guru There was a lot of skepticism in the NE media, although in general most fans were optimistic.
Press read more After being named head coach of the Jets in early 2000, Belichick resigned after only one day on the job to accept the head coaching job for the New England Patriots on January 27, 2000. Since then, Belichick has led the Patriots to 16 AFC East division titles, 13 appearances in the AFC Championship Game, and nine Super Bowl appearances. He was named the AP NFL Coach of the Year for the 2003, 2007, and 2010 seasons. His teams won Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, and LIII and lost Super Bowls XLII, XLVI, and LII. Belichick's appearance in Super Bowl LII extended his record to eight Bowls as a head coach, as well as having a record eleventh participation in a Super Bowl in any capacity. In addition, the Patriots' appearance in Super Bowl LIII was their eleventh, the most of any team. Belichick is the NFL's longest-tenured active head coach, and currently third all-time in regular season coaching wins in the NFL at 261, and first in playoff coaching wins with 30.[3] He completed his 40th season as an NFL coach in 2014 and won his fifth Super Bowl as a head coach following the 2016 season, surpassing former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Chuck Noll as the only head coach to win five Super Bowls. He is one of only five head coaches with four or more titles in NFL history.[1] He is also the only head coach in NFL history to win three Super Bowl championships in a four-year span.[1] With his sixth Super Bowl victory on February 3, 2019, he tied George Halas and Curly Lambeau for the most NFL championships as a head coach with six. Halas and Lambeau won six NFL titles with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers in the pre-Super Bowl and pre-AFL-NFL merger eras, respectively.[4][5] His eight Super Bowl rings are the most of any individual in NFL history. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest coaches in NFL history by current and former players, his peers and the press.[6] Contents Early life Edit Belichick was born in Nashville, Tennessee,[7] the son of Jeannette (Munn) and Steve Belichick (born Stephen Biličić).[8] Bill was named after College Football Hall of Fame coach Bill Edwards, who was his godfather.[9] Belichick is of Croatian ancestry,[10] his paternal grandparents, Ivan Biličić and Marija (Mary) Barković, emigrated from the village of Draganić, Karlovac, Croatia in 1897, settling in Monessen, Pennsylvania.[11] He was raised in Annapolis, Maryland,[12] where his father was an assistant football coach at the United States Naval Academy. Belichick has cited his father as one of his most important football mentors, and Belichick often studied football with his father.[13] Bill reportedly learned to break down game films at a young age by watching his father and the Navy staff do their jobs.[14] He graduated from Annapolis High School in 1970 with classmate Sally Brice-O'Hara.[15] While there, he played football and lacrosse, with the latter being his favorite sport.[16] He enrolled at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, for a postgraduate year, with the intention of improving his grades and test scores to be admitted into a quality college.[17] The school honored him 40 years later by inducting him into its Athletics Hall of Honor in 2011.[18] Belichick subsequently attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where he played center and tight end. In addition to being a member of the football team, he played lacrosse and squash, serving as the captain of the lacrosse team during his senior season. A member of Chi Psi fraternity,[19] he earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1975.[20] He would eventually be part of the inaugural induction class into the university's Athletics Hall of Fame in spring 2008.[21] Coaching career Edit Early coaching positions Edit After graduating, Belichick took a $25-per-week job as an assistant to Baltimore Colts head coach Ted Marchibroda in 1975.[22] In 1976, he joined the Detroit Lions as their assistant special teams coach before adding tight ends and wide receivers to his coaching duties in 1977.[23] He spent the 1978 season with the Denver Broncos as their assistant special teams coach and defensive assistant.[24] New York Giants (1979-1990) Edit In 1979, Belichick began a 12-year stint with the New York Giants alongside head coach Ray Perkins as a defensive assistant and special teams coach.[25] He added linebackers coaching to his duties in 1980 and was named defensive coordinator in 1985 under head coach Bill Parcells, who had replaced Perkins in 1983. The Giants won Super Bowls following the 1986 and 1990 seasons.[26] His defensive game plan from the New York Giants' 20-19 upset of the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV is now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.[27] Cleveland Browns (1991-1995) Edit From 1991 until 1995, Belichick was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. During his tenure in Cleveland, he compiled a 36-44 record, leading the team to the playoffs in 1994, his only winning year with the team.[28] Coincidentally, his one playoff victory during his Browns tenure was achieved against the Patriots in the Wild Card round during that postseason.[29] In Belichick's last season in Cleveland the Browns finished 5-11, despite starting 3-1.[30] One of his most controversial moves was cutting quarterback Bernie Kosar midway through the 1993 season. Kosar was signed by the Dallas Cowboys two days later and won a ring with the Cowboys in Super Bowl XXVIII. In November 1995, in the middle of the ongoing football season, Browns owner Art Modell had announced he would move his franchise to Baltimore after the season. After first being given assurances that he would coach the new team that would later become the Baltimore Ravens, Belichick was instead fired on February 14, 1996, one week after the shift was officially announced.[31] New England Patriots (1996)
All Bill Belichick was missing at the end of the press conference was to address the media and say "I only have one last thing to say before I leave the NJY: I'm on to New England"
Jet fan here: Honestly it was the best decision for him. The team had been very inconsistent and with the new ownership there was too much uncertainty. I doubt he would've had nearly the same amount of success here. But hopefully with recent developments, the landscape has changed and the Jets can get their act together and move on from the last era
"I would like to wish the New York Jets organization the very best of luck in it's future as I will own the AFC East for the next 2 decades with your biggest rival."
Al Groh- another parcells disciple- replaced Belichick. The Jets received three 1st round draft picks but this trade will go down as one of the most lopsided trades in sports history. Btw if you’re wondering, the 3 picks were Chad Pennington, John Abraham and Shaun Ellis (No Google btw).
And Groh left after one season to become a college head coach. This is not only one of the most lopsided trades in sports history, but likely the #1 most lopsided trade in NFL history. (I see the Herschel Walker trade from Dallas to Minnesota being #2.)
MoniqueFromPlymouth it’s funny how things come full circle. The Jets lured Parcells away from the Pats after SB 31 by naming Bill Belichick as the head coach with Parcells being the “team consultant.” I know Robert Kraft couldn’t have been happier to return the favor.
