The reason it's not hypocrisy is because Bill plays an actual role in production where Steve only handled the business end and had nothing to do with actual development. Steve Jobs didn't acually invent the iPhone.
Facts. Also, producers, directors and filmmakers aren't usually changing the entire course of history, causing technological revolution and creating companies worth Trillions. And then Steve Jobs walks out there like he isn't running sweatshops and taking all the credit. Bill's right.
I think Bill is more upset that Steve rarely shared credit, and the rest is just a roundabout way of joking about it. Honestly, similar things can be said of a lot of the rich tech giants.
I think Bill's point about Steve Jobs and Apple is that he just had the vision for these things but didn't actually invent any of it. You can say something crazy like... build me a toilet that makes sandwiches for me so that I can eat a sub while I'm taking a dump... and if the team creates that, they're the ones who actually figure out the logistics of creating such a preposterous item. Thomas Edison is the biggest example of this. He didn't invent most of the things that have been credited to him. It was the students that were working for him. It would be like Bill Burr putting on a comedy show but someone is speaking into the microphone for him back stage and he's just miming the act. That's the point that he was trying to make.
@@tyrawr4394 So Elon just funds the projects and they are not his inventions? I'm honestly asking. He makes it out like it's all because of him. All it will take is one chip in a Tesla getting damaged and the car may start driving wildly thru city streets hurting people, just saying.
The comparison doesn't really work, if bill walked up to his producers and said "write my jokes for me and make them funny" then maybe the hypocrisy would make sense.
You're kind of proving his point on Steve Jobs. He's literally pointing out that there are tons of people that are involved in the process but Steve Jobs acts like he did everything himself. That's where the overrated idea comes from. People worship the guy like he's Jesus when in reality there is a whole ton of people involved in what Apple does but he refused to credit anyone other than himself. It's the ego of Steve Jobs that rubs him wrong
Hey bro, I think it's the other way around, it's not that he's developing those bits during these talk shows, it's that he's adapting his material from his stand-up into an interview format
I gotta disagree with your comparison of his comedy specials to Steve Jobs. Bill is the product. When we praise him, we’re praising the jokes he wrote and his performance, not the camera work or editing. Those guys matter too, but at the end of the day, Bill can perform those jokes in your living room and it would still be funny. An iPhone is only as good as the technical expertise of the people that assembled it and wrote the code for the os.
@@FrenzVorstellen Most people never look at things in a different perspective. The dude defending Steve Jobs has never thought outside of his little bubble and it shows.
Bill has gotten to the point that he has a lot of creative involvement in his specials. He did a large portion of editing on paper tiger, as well as cutting, lighting, directing, and producing. Of course he still had people help in each department, but he did have a major hand in it
1:40 Steve Jobs was a salesman & marketer - very good & possibly the best, but neither an engineer nor designer. It's not merely that he didn't do the soldering, it's also that he wasn't responsible for concept or design on most Apple products, either. The original tech brain of Apple was Steve Wozniak. His "soldering" (aka engineering & electronics), skillset was somewhat rudimentary, but it was good enough for the DIY state of home computing at the time. Combined with a very ingenious type of creativity & LSD, Woz was the real visionary. Steve Jobs did a brilliant job at communicating the vision of Apple's designers to the public, in much the same way that a top class server explains the menu to a diner.
2:40 Not gonna lie, this take is stupid as hell. His point is that Steve Jobs pretty much did nothing other than wave his finger around. Your analogy would make sense if Bill didn't even write his jokes. Everything else that goes into making the special is so much less important. The editing, filming, etc. You can cut all that out and have him filmed on a phone and people would still watch it. Cuz people are there for the jokes. In contrast for the other situation, people are there for the phone, and Steven Jobs did not make that phone, other people made it. An appropriate analogy would be the editor of the Bill Burr special coming on the stage and saying: "Yo guy, I just made the best comedy special ever. I am the best comedian of our times!" And lil bro did nothing but edit Bill Bur's work.
I hear you bro but your analogy with the bill burr working with netflix and getting praised alone for his ain't the same in the scenario with steve jobs. Now if someone wrote his jokes that he recited in the Netflix special then calling it hyprocisy would be valid. Netflix is just the platform used in pushing out his content there weren't necessarily involved in the art which is the stand up act itself.
I disagree with you right here Bill never said he made his Netflix specials whereas majority of believe that Steve job and Bill gate where the people with the idea they were the people who made these things
his stand ups have credits listing the people involved though. and i dont think he is hung up on steve doing the mechanical labor which you said here as well but he wouldve liked to see steve to be the one who created the original design or programming at least. most tech people did the original first step, where as steve seemed to just be the coordinator from day one. which is still a big job, but shout out the rest of the team too. your not bruce banner or tony stark.....or mark zuker
people who think the rural west/midwest can't be gangster don't know it was still basically the wild west in terms of law enforcement until less than 50 years ago in some parts lol. People still carry some extra manners because of that.
Yeah, no, Bill Burr is not being hypocritical. Steve Jobs was the marketing face of apple. He was the the guy signing the paychecks. He did literally next to nothing in the development of the Apple products that came out while he was alive. There are like 3 bio pics about him that state exactly that. In terms of Bill Burr's Netflix specials, yeah it takes people to work to make the show happen, but that's not what he's saying. His stand up IS the product, and it is understood that Bill Burr writes his own material. An actual Steve Jobs comparison would be if Bill Burr hired ghost writers to make the stories he tells funny. That's what Steve Jobs and every Tech CEO is (looking at you Elon)
I think a lot of people don’t like Steve Jobs because he basically got all the credit for work the people like Steve Wozniak did and never gave them their flowers despite really only being a figurehead of the company
Lol. Not different from others, but, I literally watched my son get ripped from my wife's stomach. Then watched her throw up a couple feet from me. Then, I get the job of cutting the cord. Total PTSD from those few minutes. Lol Love your reactions Screw.
He goes at Steve Jobs because he didn’t give credit to people that helped come up with the products some products he had nothing to do with and acted like he did it all as for Bill and his stand up specials he does give credit when asked about it he will say who helped what person did what his team and producer and give props not to mention at the end of the special you see the credits to show who was involved and did what but Steve didn’t do that you would either have to go out of your way to find out by doing research or hear about it from some ex employee who is doing a interview stating that he didn’t give credit to them or to so and so
2:57 No, he writes his jokes and performs. He IS an entertainer, he did his job. Steve Jobs pretended to be an innovator and he was not. He administrated others. A burger King manager doesn't claim to "create" new menu items. So, that manager is better than Steve Jobs.
“The director and a few people” Was a crazy to say considering Jobs never went out with a single person. Never even mentioned them, Not even head programmer or whatever the professional job title it would be called. So I see your argument, it just holds very little water imo
The Steve Jobs thing is more like being upset about ghost writers when the artist takes all credit. Like if Bill Burr didn't write his jokes not like production.
Good stuff, but I'm telling ya, if you haven't seen it or done it yet, his podcast when he had on Jon Lovitz, older long time SNL cast member, is F-ING hilarious, I haven't belly laughed like that in a while. I have NEVER seen anyone keep up with Bill when it comes to bustin' each others balls, like what goes on between these two. The whole podcast is a little over an hour, but they have an edited one too if choose to react to it, that's about 15min I think.
1986 Wozniak creates the Apple 1 just for him & friends If it wasn't for Jobs the company would never be started 1996 Apple is going bankrupt If it wasn't for Jobs it would've been closed down Apple is full of talented people. All they need is a good strategy to get benind. - Steve Jobs 1996 He was the provider of that strategy and vision. Both Wozniak & Jony Ive have pointed out his selfishness But they were also quick to point him out as the most brilliant mind they've encountered Give credit where it's due
The issue with Steve Jobs is simply the fact he lied to everyone, about almost everything (not to mention he was supposedly a terrible person). The only thing I would give credit to Jobs for, is as a businessman, his diabolical thinking to get so many people to think the iPhone was better than anything else and that he invented it and how they charged so much for them... He literally copied Android. I think the first iPhones were actually based on Android, like Samsung phones now.. it's not really Android, but it's based on Android. Most of if not all of his "ideas" were other people's ideas he just put to use, or merged... then sued the owners over/for it...
Meh... I can see where you're coming from on the hypocrisy thing, but there's a massive difference between what Steve Jobs did compared to Bill. Steve took the credit that should have been laid at the feet of the actual researchers and developers. when someone compliments one of Bill‘s specials, they don’t complement the cinematography or the editing or whatever lol. They complement Bill for his specials because of how funny he is. And Bill is the one being funny. Not the camera man, not the audio engineers, not those working backstage to make sure everything functions properly. Yes, those people are extremely important in getting the specials made and put on Netflix, but Bill is the one who writes and performs the jokes. Not quite the same.
that complaint? that's not a new thing. I'm about Bill's age and I'm a citizen of a few countries separated by thousands of miles. And yeah I walk around bare foot and have since I was like 4 years old (I'm now 42). FUCKING DEAL WITH IT. I also put my chair back in gangsta lean mode immediately. The reason why? 8+ hour flights suck. Get comfy. Lean your chair back in my face, no worries. People who pretend at fucking 9 hour transatlantic flight is church or something are on the wrong plane.
Steve Jobs was an insufferable a-hole to all his friends and coworkers all throughout his career. Bill doesn't talk about this but it's a good thing to add
I understand why he hates Steve Jobs you fired the people that helped you blackmail etc etc it was messed up what he and so many others do to be the face of something
Steve didn't invent anything he allowed the money and expression for others to do it so it's more of a he heard a idea that's impossible from someone he went to the others and said this is what he's doing this is the idea.. now to compare it it's like this. You reacting to a video that's not your own to make money off of it lol "bill wrote the jokes he was recorded by someone you reacted you got the money for it"
I rock with you Scru, but your Steve Jobs analogy is completely backwards😅 Bill creates the actual product, the comedy, and then other people shoot, edit, and distribute it. Steve Jobs has an idea, but the other people actually invent and create the product. I know it was just off the top of your head so it wasn't thought out. But you got the whole analogy backwards😂 I rock with you tho homie!! No shade or disresepct at all🫡✌️
