At around 2:25 you said "Just talk normal" ... for trading that is normal. Going short means he was placing futures positions on the price of a stock going down. Long is placing positions based on the price going up. Basically he was betting on what direction he thought the market was going to go next. I've been exceedingly successful doing this in stocks and crypto. I've made most of my money in crypto, nothing wrong with it as you and Bill both acted like it's crazy. I've legit paid off everything I own in crypto alone, house/cars, everything. All markets are about timing, and to get that right takes tons of homework. This guy got easy wins, so he never had to do the work and thought it was just easy. If anyone wants to go down that path I always suggest they start with $100, and when you can grow that to $1,000 in trades, you might be ready. The first time I did that it took 5 months of trades. I failed several times before that. It took a lot of changing my mindset or strategy until I was getting it right, took years.

Losing "everything" means your health, family, wife, job, numerous things at the same time. In this case, you lost some money. Sucks, but so what. It's just money. Stocks go up, stocks go down. Personally, I put my money into homes, real estate, land etc...rather than stocks but...whatever. Either way, pick up, move on. Regarding success and failure being a "choice"...mostly nonsense. Go find some 4' 8" 230-pound, blind in one eye woman in sub-Saharan Africa or the jungles of South America and tell her the challenges in her life and lack of "success" and opportunity is her "choice".
