Good ole patriots fans. Dominating team for a GENERATION but they bitch any chance they get. I'm a Jaguars fan so i legitamely have "beef" with the Colts and furthermore the Jags Pats game last year was the most costly officiating I've ever seen in a championship game and might have actually cost the Jags the game (plus bad play calling) soooo...yeah fuck the patriots and their whiny fans, enjoy it while you can!!!

The facility is awesome but I've lived 15 minutes from it my whole life. I literally pass up free tickets to different races at least a few times a year. I used to go any time I could but it gets old dodging the crack dealers, meth heads, and heroin addicts left and right that encompass the neighborhood. The city hides the riff raff fairly well for a few days though. They also totally changed Georgetown Rd to help and completely revamped Main St and it's nice. I love the place but when you live somewhat near it you learn to stay the hell away from all the trouble. Hell I used to volunteer for a day of clean up after the 500 race when I was a kid. Just walk the bleachers all day and the amount of money and valuables you'd find was sometimes shocking. Also as a teen it was nice to find unopened alcohol everywhere. I was in 4H shooting sports and they always recommended we volunteer. They had no idea that we were waiting all year for it for our own benefit.
@personale-mail1393

If you ever move away for many years and return to visit the track I would bet it could nearly bring one to tears. ☺

Personal E-mail It's easy sometimes for us locals to lose sight of how iconic a place like the Indy 500 really is to many people. I mean, it would be a weird life to stay in constant "awe" just because you drive by it regularly. But honestly you're probably right and to be fair I always feel the specialty of it every time I go inside. When I've dated girls from out of town I almost always try to plan something when the gates are open. Even if they aren't a motorsports fan they generally get the feels of the atmosphere. Let's not forget the home of the NHRA Nationals the Lucas Oil Raceway is only about 15-20 minutes away as well. It'll always be IRP (Indianapolis Raceway Park) to me. The corporate names these days are polluted everywhere. Let me tell you that when the big dogs are in town for the NHRA Nationals it is something else. My house is miles away and you can very very clearly hear every burn out, staging, and pass. To watch them live in person is absolutely something everyone should do at least once whether you are a fan or not. Nothing else feels like it. Your toes, hair, and internal organs vibrate. Don't leave your soda sitting on the aluminum seats when they make a pass either or you'll have a soda volcano to clean up. Two 11,000+ horsepower cars going from 0 to 335mph in 3.6 seconds never fails to boggle the mind. Back to the Indy500 track. Man when the F1 circuit had the race here for some years, WOW. That was really new and brought the excitement for me. Those cars were idling at a hefty and quite loud 9000 rpm, and to hear them screaming around at 21,000+ RPMs was almost magical to me, but I am a mechanic/gearhead. From my house you can clearly hear every practice lap in the weeks to come and every race in the background whether it be the Indy 500, the brickyard 400, the Moto GP bikes (lifetime rider) or the long gone F1 races. The Indianapolis International airport is again about 10-15 minutes away and home of the second biggest Fed Ex aircraft hub in the US. So there's the sound of absolutely constant Boeing 777s coming and going and the few Airbus A300s back and forth, let alone the passenger flights. Then there's the massive Avon Railway yard (again about 10-15 minutes away from me) with trains leaving east and west and eventually tracking north and south all day and all night long with the constant beautiful and nostalgic sound of train horns and rhythmic chatter of thousands of tons gliding on steel wheels over steel tracks. As much as I absolutely love to go on camping trips or stay in quiet cabins and fishing in beautiful serene areas, I just don't know if anything else would feel right. 39 years of amazing race cars blazing in the background, top fuel dragsters bellowing deep roars in the distance, Boeing 777s, 757s, 747s, Cessnas, and the occasional fighter jets roaring and rattling your walls, and the calming beauty of trains clattering by and sounding the horn, well I just don't know if the world would feel right if that was all gone. I take it back, as ugly and crime ridden as this place can be, it's a beautiful symphony with wonderful hidden treasures and iconic venues full of rich history. Thanks man, I needed that. Haven't traveled that far in to my thoughts of this place in many years.

I had an uncle, James Hylton, who never retired from racing. He was a NASCAR driver, in the early years, retired from NASCAR after decades, as one of the last independents. Switched to ARCA, finally gave up the driving part, just a few years ago. He fielded cars, in the Hylton Motorsports team. His sister asked if he would ever retire completely. He said, "What would I do?" Well, he never retired. He and his son were killed in an accident, on the way home from Talladega, a month ago. R.I.P., Uncle James.
