"You're not worth being on the same platform as my wife," Bill Clinton told Jerry Brown in a 1992 Democratic primary debate in Chicago after Brown accused Clinton of funneling Arkansas state money to Hillary Clinton's law firm.
He actually did deny the accusation, fwiw. I think the main accusation was that Hillary represented the poultry industry. That can't be denied, so he denied that he had funneled money to her. I think that would actually be a criminal offense, though I imagine it's not entirely uncommon throughout the history of politics.
@carpe diem Why is the stage so slanted against him? No other candidate has experienced the level of outright media and political discourse over a man in the office. Ask yourself why because there have been worse presidents.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. I personally know Hillary’s girlfriend, and what happened between that “married couple” is really none of your business.
Consider the source, and don't laugh about insults. Be thankful also that We have a leader who opposes abortion, perverse marriage, terrorism, trespassing, slavery, segregation, etc..
It is so damn hilarious how Trump's cult worshippers are so bothered by Hillary's supposed great corruption, while turning a completely blind eye to Trump's. When will the pathological liar stop telling lies about an audit stopping him from releasing his tax returns, and let the public see the corruption he's hiding in them? When will he find the courage to denounce his puppet master Putin who has murdered our soldiers with bounties?
ArkadiosTheodulus Trump said over and over that he will release his tax returns against the will of his lawyers if Obama releases his actual birth certificate and Hilary retrieves those 30,000 deleted emails.
@@ArkadiosTheodulus I don't like Donald Trump at all, but his faults do nothing to erase Hillary's. What's hilarious is how Democrats can't even try to defend Hillary, so they just change the subject and attack Trump.
@@princea5886 Trump supporters are the biggest bunch of lying cowards. You're not even good liars. If you're too ashamed to admit you support the guy, then just don't support him, simple as that.
@@Ntw24 Nah, he'll never release his tax returns because of his crimes and corruption they hide. Trump has already admitted he was wrong about Obama not being a US citizen, BTW. Took him long enough to figure it out, but he's not very smart, so what do you expect. www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-37389180 As for Hillary, her name was already cleared twice by the FBI, and she's not even running for office anymore. Got any other Right-wing lies and propaganda for me? 🤣 www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/01/12/hillary-clinton-most-exonerated-politician-ever/
He wasn’t right about anything. He was the beginning of the footwork for petty narcissists politicians from the right. Like bill said they attacked people personally and have no interest in actually governing the country.
Yep, politics was for old people back then. Rush Limbaugh was just getting going and bridging the gap between politics and wrestling/entertainment. FOX News wasn't around. Newscasters were old men not young women in low cut tops. WOW, do I go back.
Art Howard Wrestling and Politics thank you. I thought I was only one who felt the political commentators acted more like people pretending to be hurt and creating good guy bad guy scenarios. Yet when the mic was off do they really believe what they are spouting?
@@adorabasilwinterpock6035 he ran for president as a progressive and a "change agent" but he cut welfare, passed a massive crime bill that incarcerated millions of people for mere weed possession and he tried to cut Social Security. Sounds like a liar to me. Why didn't Bill just run as a Republican??
There arent many politicians like Bill, definitely one of the finest. You may or may not hate his policies or him as a person, but there's no denying his talent as politician.
@@kbanghart oh gimme a break. I've been listening to this for the past 11 years about how Bush was just a "puppet" while Cheney and Rumsfeld were calling the shots behind the scenes. George W. Bush was the main reason the US went to war with Iraq. He entered the White House with one thing in mind on his foreign policy agenda and that was toppling Saddam Hussein from power. Privately, George H.W. Bush considered this one of his biggest failures and he believed he lost the 1992 election because of this (being too shortsighted to realize that it was actually because of the economy). Let's also not forget that Saddam was behind an assassination attempt on George HW Bush when he visited Kuwait in 1993. For Dubya, it was personal.
Suvir Sinha what? Reagan’s words/policies changed the world -literally created over a dozen countries including merging Germany into one. “ Mr. Gorbachev tear down those walls”.
@@stewiegriffin12341 I think Reagan, Clinton and Obama were all amazing communicators, irrespective of ones feelings towards them! I am not sure there would have been a clear winner
@@Terry-nr5qn Stop being so damn one-sided. You're completely blind to one side. All biden did was lie and toss the blame around. Here everything Bill's wife was accused of has become true and remains so today. Everything Trump accused Biden of was also true. From his Son to his hoaky support of Green Deal.
You say that like it's a good thing. America is very glad that the Clinton machine -- even with its immense voter fraud --- got drilled in the 2016 election.
@@utahhoopsfreak8648 Exactly, he was very slick. That's why people get so angry when it comes to this stuff. Believe it or not, there are actually very simple minded citizens in our country who are charmed by such characteristics, and will vote just based on that.
Take a look at all those photos of Trump partying with Epstein, the suggestive photos and comments of Trump with his young daughter Ivanka, and the accusation of a 13 year old against Trump, and just remember who YOU support, buddy. 😂
"Don't insult my wife" -man who cheats on wife. "My wife has done nothing unethical " -man whose wife was kicked of a trial for lying, before she laughed about freeing a rapist, and before she called a certain racial group super predators.
Based on what you're saying here, I'm guessing you don't support the guy who's had over two dozen sexual assault accusations, Donald Trump. But I know I'd be wrong, because Trump supporters are nothing but a bunch of shameless hypocrites.
@@LordofDublin4 Idk, I think it's crazy to say that in comparison to the rest of the first ladies not named Melania Trump 1992 Hillary Clinton isn't good looking.
Seeing this a few things pop to mind: 1- Clinton was corrupt, but could convince people otherwise; 2- he skilfully pivoted every tough question thrown at him; 3- he was hot; 4- above all, he was an ordinary politician who managed to portrait himself as the new type of politician precisely because of the three traits above
Bill Clinton was not a psychic, he simply knew that he could manipulate the room a trillion times better than Jerry Brown, regardless of facts. As Gore Vidal said: "Jerry Brown is incredibly beatable". That doesn't mean Brown was wrong in this instance, he was merely outgunned by by Arkansas's charisma king.
"My wife is a fine person who has never done anything unethical...she would never even delete her emails...i mean, she's got tens of thousands of them...i always tell her to delete them and all she tells me is 'not yet...'..."
Buddies? He endorsed HRC for prez. Doesn't mean he and Bill are buddies because he believes (rightly) that HRC is our best option for enacting progressive change.
lorie You missed the bit about business being directed to Hillary's law firm. You also missed the bit where Hillary said she will be getting Bill in to revitalize the economy.
Lol, everybody saw that. You're not even old enough to remember this election, so settle down. You're the genius who said Bill and Jerry are buddies now. Wrong. He endorsed HRC for president because the democratic in-party bickering is pointless, and she is now our best bet to actually have left laws passed (she is; Bernie has never passed anything) and to defeat Trump. This is called reality. Get over it. Unlike you, he's not a teenager and doesn't let a strained relationship blind him from the truth.
I am no fan of Bill Clinton, though I give him credit for the good economy of the ‘90s, but if I were watching this debate in 1992, regardless of my personal political leanings, I would be saying, “THAT guy is going to be President.”
This is normal for debating . It makes it more entertaining . The media makes it sound like debates are awful just cause TRUMP is President . The dirtier the better , cant wait for the next one .
I said nothing about Trump. Why go there? It is a fact that Clinton had adulterous acts committed in the Oval Office and that he flew 25+ times on Epstein’s planes to Epstein island. Nuff said.
If Perot didn't run, H.W. would've had a second term. This idea that Perot took equal votes from Bush and Clinton is total bs. Perot split the conservative vote
Maybe, but I don't quite see it that way. If you recall, Perot actually LEAD the race all the way during the summer of 92, until he dropped out, with Clinton being in a distant third. When that happened, Clinton then gained a huge lead soon after, which he never relinquished, but the race then slightly tightened when Perot re-entered. You may also recall that Bush actually insisted Perot be included in the debates, which was something that lead to Clinton famously labeling him "Chicken George". But one thing I'll always wonder is if Perot actually could have won the whole thing, had if he not killed his own momentum by dropping out (while waiting too long to get back in), and if he had also had time to nominate a competent vice-presidential candidate, which his running mate James Stockdale was anything but!? But Clinton I'm pretty sure would've won a one on one race, with too many factors going against Bush at the time, along with the country finally getting a case of party fatigue, and with the way things were also heading for the nation in general then (mainly the economy going bad) as well.
Thats because politics isn't issue based in this country, it's more personality based. Jerry Brown was 100% correct on everything he said here. Bill Clinton just committed logical fallacies, deflecting basically saying Brown was a loser and how dare he accurately attack his wife. The only good point he had was that Brown's law firm had done the thing with the money in politics. So Jerry Brown was right on all the arguments but because Clinton appeared charasmatic despite saying 85% horseshit in this exchange, he comes out on top.
No one would have beaten Bush had Ralph Nader not refused to drop out of the race. With a conservative third party candidate running the whole way, Bush would have lost to anyone.
Very True, most people skip that very important detail in that election. Bush was coming off 90% approval rating and the most successful war campaign in american history. How could an economic downturn cause him the loss of his reelection? I know, being a responsible and good president.
If that were the case, W would never have been elected. Then no Obama. No Iraq war. No obama. No trump. I'm neutral in this post.... It just goes to show what one change in history can do. Then again, who knows what would have happened under another HW term?
Policy wise, President Clinton was not that bad, but his character left much to be desired. Bill Bonds was one of the most popular news anchors in Detroit history. Jerry Brown reminds me of Coach Harbaugh from U of M.
Jerry was definitely right. The problem was that Bill Clinton was a master speaker and could comeback from anything even though he was lying. He was extremely persuasive and smooth with his words.
I was in my twenties when this happened and like all young people, I has zero interest in politics. Damn I wish I had paid more attention back then, this is awesome!
