----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fareed Zakaria asks President Bill Clinton if it is possible to learn how to successfully work with others.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After leaving the White House, President Clinton established the William J. Clinton Foundation with the mission to improve global health, strengthen economies, promote healthier childhoods, and protect the environment by fostering partnerships among governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and private citizens to turn good intentions into measurable results. Throughout the Foundation’s history and growth, Secretary Clinton and Chelsea offered their voice, vision, and counsel. To recognize their past contributions and acknowledge their role in shaping the Foundation’s future, the Foundation was renamed the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.
Today the Foundation has staff and volunteers around the world working to improve lives through several initiatives, including the Clinton Health Access Initiative, which is helping 5 million people living with HIV/AIDS access lifesaving drugs. The Clinton Climate Initiative, the Clinton Development Initiative, and the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership are applying a business-oriented approach to fight climate change worldwide and to promote sustainable economic growth in Africa and Latin America. In the U.S., the Foundation is working to combat the alarming rise in childhood obesity and preventable disease through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Clinton Health Matters Initiative. Established in 2005, the Clinton Global Initiative brings together global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues. So far, more than 2,800 Clinton Global Initiative commitments have improved the lives of more than 430 million people in 180 nations.
In addition to his Foundation work, President Clinton has joined with former President George H.W. Bush three times - after the 2004 tsunami in South Asia, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and Hurricane Ike in 2008, and with President George W. Bush in Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. Today the Clinton Foundation supports economic growth, job creation, and sustainability in Haiti.
President Clinton was born on August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas. He and his wife Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton have one daughter, Chelsea, and live in Chappaqua, New York.

"Since nobody is capable of being in possession of the whole truth about anything, our common humanity matters more. So you owe everybody a certain presumption of respect until they do something to forfeit it." - 4:03 Words to live by.

It's easy to live by. You can't go through life distrusting everyone. You can't gain trust without giving it. The same is true with respect.
@Polarcupcheck
@Polarcupcheck 10 лет назад
The question is not the respect, but the degree of the respect. Should people have enough respect not randomly bomb people they don't know? Yes. Should they randomly have sex and give money to people they don't know? Not in my opinion.

Watching this made me realize why Clinton was such a successful president. His philosophy on listening to everyone's story/point of view and realizing that you can never have the whole truth unless you do that made him able to make bipartisan decisions. Congress was republican just like it is now, but things were much more productive because of his ability to compromise. His new age successor on the other hand is a total ideologue, thinks he knows everything, and doesn't respect the views of others. Obama and the rest of the Democrats could learn a lot from Bill.

This is a great speech from Clinton, and it illuminates so many things that the educational systems of North America lack(and simply assume that sticking 500+ kids in a single building will build). With the fortune of TV and the Internet we now need to be purposeful in learning the skills of communication with others(many good books on this topic out there). And I'd also like to comment, there are a lot of people speaking negative about this video. Perhaps a 1:1 ratio with those who speak positive. Don't let any negative about this get you down, anyone who owns a company will agree with Clinton here because anyone who owns a company HAS to be able to deal with people, or else it cannot keep employee's. 'Shutting them up' is not a solution, nor is it necessary. If they ignore the message, then they have sealed their fate to a life without great success. "Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, 'What's in it for me?'" - Brian Tracy

Learning to work with other is the key to success !! Indeed. The developed nations have long struggled, and spend a lots of money to work with the nations of the third world countries so that they can develop economically and their government become transparent and accountable. The U.S. under the Marshall plan even extended Industrial research and development program to these countries,with mixed results. What these nations need is assistance in developing their institutions so that the level of self-organization comes up to the required standard. This should be the main responsibility of the developed nations, and particularly the U.N. As long as this is not achieved, all shall have a bleak future.

I mean I do think listening should be tought in schools. There is a best seller that I've read "seven habits of highly effective people" by Steven Covey and it really is a great read on how many types of listening techniques there are and which one is the highest form of listening and if that helps people to work together with others I do think it should be tought in schools but then there is this other thing that imagine you listen to someone and you understand them better then they understand themselves and they like talking to you because they may think you are just a dumbass who learns something from them, not that could turn into nighmare you know.

An eight year old, in fact, has a physiological limitation in their memory that prevents them from processing information from more complicated things they read. I found this out with my current eight year old. He can read far beyond his capability to process the information, so I had to look it up. Ahh, I said, that's why he can read the Eragon series or practically anything, but can't give reports on the harder material, though he still seems to enjoy them enough, lol.

I wonder how I should connect the dots I am interested in. Georgia my country of birth is striving for NATO membership. It was told by NATO (General Secretary Rassmusen and all of its member states) That Georgia is on the path to eventual NATO membership and that it will become a NATO member. However, few days ago President Obama spoke in Europe and told everyone that Georgia is not even on the path to NATO membership. On one side US, EU and NATO say Georgia has made great progress and that it will be reflected appropriately in the upcomming NATO summit. Georgia has contributed more troops per capita (meaning percentage of troops it has) in the ISAF mission than any other NATO member. It has made progress in building democratic institutions and has been praised for free and fair elections by the US and EU. It has ranked in top 10 on the list of World Bank on ease of doing business. It has been one of least corrupt Countries in the EU according to the European Union and had lowest crime rate in the EU again according to the European Union. It has changed its tone with Russia and no longer bashes pile of hard truth on Kremlin but instead works with the US and the EU to solve its territorial disputed with Russia peacefully. It has been told many times that it was on the path to NATO membership but OBAMA just blurted that it is not EVEN on the path to NATO membership. Even if you take away the frustration of the Georgian people because of that statement, can one connect the dots as to why wouldn't Russia take this Obama's message as the green light to invade the rest of Georgia especially since Putin seams to be on the anexations shopping spree that involved annexation of Soverane states and their territories like Crimea of Ukraine or Abkhazia of Georgia? How should we Georgians understand this "Georgia is not even on the path to NATO membership message"? Where do we connect the dots? What the hell is going on?

It’s always nice to try and get along with others...but in the end, if they don’t play along, you can always have two state troopers tie your enemies to railroad tracks after smashing the backs of their skulls in with the butt of a rifle like Bill Clinton’s cronies did to two young boys in Arkansas because they saw shipments of cocaine being dropped by airplane into Mena Arkansas one night. There’s always that.
