Hats to you Bill for giving props to one of my brother Philly goups The Delfonics. I grew up with their music at the Uptown Theatre. You rendition sounds good. Peace, Jamaaladeen
Good heavens, this is brilliant, and tastefully gorgeous. The original version was never anything special to me, but Bill just invites you in to his joyous musical world. Unspeakably wonderful. And yes indeed, Bill has the chops.
What can one say, beautiful, articulate, such finality of purpose. This puts me in a magical place that few can do. Thank you Bill, Tony and Kenny for that wonderful performance!!
This is great! I have been a Frisell fan for many years and this it's great to see him play with such passion. He really enjoys what he's doing and that's important.
I really love this performance, as well as the other song you have posted from this show "Ventura". They are among my favorite Bill Frisell performances on RU-vid. Are there any more videos posted from this show in Rochester? I would love to see this entire show. I have many of his recordings, and they all have some magical moments. But there is an intangible element to his live performances that I feel goes beyond the studio recordings. Especially from this era!
Fully concur with you. This is the kind of initiative and musical choice that bring people unfamiliar with the jazz idiom to the pleasure of listening to this type of music. Doesn anybody has an audio track of this? StExup55
I fully concur with tbeezer2009's and keyehaw's comments. This is the kind of initiative and musical choice that bring people unfamiliar with the jazz idiom to the pleasure of listening to this type of music. Does anybody has an audio track of this? StExup55
the delfonics had the sonics this trio sounds amazing. the things i am saying are true, and the way i am typing to you. yes to you. listen to me, lalalalalalalalala means i love you.
I would just say that the set of musical traditions Frisell is drawing from here is a set that Santana has also used a lot. Bringing a jazz feel to a pop song without trying to turn it into full-blown jazz (whatever that is any more).
I also wonder why some comments appear on my screen with the mention "spam". In any case may I reiterate my request, which is genuine: if somebody owns an audio track of this performance by Frisell, and is willing to send it to me - I presume this is legal - I would greatly appreciate. StExup55
Well Bill is a different type of person maybe (in a stage presence type of way ) but the music stands for itself. I don't suppose ther was a lot of rehearsal for this tune
