My god. He really did have a massive number of VHS show recordings. And each one has a little extra bit of personality that adds dimension to what we know about Bill. And so prolific!
@@randomdude189 Well not much has changed, still controlled by billionaires, fake pandemic ,usa has stopped bombing defenceless brown people i suppose.and Keith is still alive.
Already listened to this 3 times Bill literally never gets old. No matter how many times I've heard the same joke seeing him do it different each time keeps it fresh. Hicks will always be the funniest man who ever lived.
Same here man. I've listened to everything he has done including his music but the difference in this set had me rolling. "Hey lieutenant nice to see ya again, hows the wife"
Absolute masterclass at comedy. Winning over skeptics with his usual three subjects of sex drugs and rock and roll. This set is his usual greatest hits, but once again delivered with absolute artistry. His punchlines are literal afterthoughts. Just an untouched GOAT of the art form. RIP the boss.
This looks like it was shot at The Jeff Valdez Comedy Corner off Academy Blvd. I was a bartender there in 1993-94. Just missed him. I did get to hang out with Mitch Hedberg, Tree, Tommy Chong, Emo Phillips, etc., though.
This one is for the permanent records! Thanks! And since this is the Bill Hicks channel, I'll tell how I learned about him. I'm Brazilian and one day, at night, the public channel of my state, TV Cultura de São Paulo, was playing a documentary a day and I was watching a bit of some ... when I started to watch the biography of this comedian I had never heard about who started in the business at age 15 (IINM) ... it was a really good documentary with an awesome subject. So, my thanks to Matt Harlock, Paul Thomas and TV Cultura.
Colorado Springs NOT starin at him like a dog that's just been shown a card trick. Sounds like they were pretty into it. I love hearing variations of his classic bits that I've never heard before
Even tho I seen all the material many times I really liked this show. He seems to be in a good place this night and is enjoying him self more than in other shows I have seen
i can ONLY IMAGINE what i would have been like "today" had my consciousness been open in 1990. That was BEFORE my future ex-wife was even a thought. Crazy. I was 23. It wouldn't be until 1992 my life would start in that direction. Had i been "woken by Bill" then....shiiiiiiiiiit. All i can say is that, I've reached out to his big brother Steve, cuz i got me one of them. And he was as gracious and cool as portrayed on his youtube interviews about Bill. I'm glad to have come across Bill's work in around 2007 when i did. My son prophet-ed well from all of it. As did my daughter. Both adults at 20 & 24..the journey continues. And i do best i can. Thanks again brother Bill. Enjoy rockin' the lake of fire with GREAT fuckin' MUSIC.
His material Is incredible. Think about how many bits and jokes in this set, and the level and how recent this sound. Simply incredible. Thanks for the upload
Good God, he absolutely slayed this night! This is one of the best stand up performances I've ever seen. I literally cried from laughing so hard so many times lol. The crowd seemed to actually understand and vibe with him. What a legend.
I started this morning with a piping hot cup of coffee, a Marlboro reds 100s and this concert. It was a great idea, I don't regret it but I could have hit the Pause button to sit the coffee. How could I have been so foolish? I'm just glad it wasn't milk. Had I've been stoned I probably wouldn't have made this mistake.
This is a sweet set, lots of stuff I've never heard. You can really see through these recent videos his process of honing material on stage to find what works best. It's like watching an artist paint.
Wow. I've always been a big Bill Hicks fan... seen him quite a few times but had never seen this particular video of this evening. I must say IMHO he was really on this night. this particular night he seems like it was just perfect timing or something. Listen to crowd just LTAO and falling apart laughing in background.
@sabbracadabra As a comedian I will tell you that we watchdog each other and will tell each other if a joke even sounds anything remotely like another (especially famous) comedian's joke. I'm sure Brian Regan was told by people his joke was similar to Bill Hicks. Even if you didn't steal it from another comedian as long as people think you might have stolen it from a comedian it is just as bad. The local comedians in my capital city will drop jokes immediately or alter them incredibly if they are similar to another. I will tell you if you are really successful there are comedians who think that once they are famous they can steal from not as famous comics because in their eyes who will the audience believe came up with joke? The nobody? Or the comic genius sensation? Example Carlos Mencia taking jokes from everyone including his opener and in the documentary "Heckler" stated "If you see in the back of a comedy show Hell yes I'm gonna steal, I'm like a DJ I'll twist your song into my own" - among those lines. I'm a huge Brian Regan fan. I'd like to think that he didn't know he was stealing. However the jokes are just too close to each other especially with the punchline. It's ok to have the same premise as others but when the punchlines are the about the same there is a problem. Bill Hicks is a legend and definitely came up with the punchline first. If I was a comic in Brians circle I would have told him Hicks did pretty much the same punchline and it would of been Brians responsibility to cut the punchline, alter it, or cut the joke.
@sabbracadabra Even if you have the same joke/punchline as someone on accident. if someone brings it to your attention that your bit is similar to someone, it is your responsibility to alter or cut.
@sabbracadabra I'm telling you what comedians in the circuit think. and if you take something subliminally than another comedian tells that comic then they change. Hicks is on the mount rushmore of comedy so its very unlikely a comic friend of Regan didn't tell him.
If a beginner to Bill Hicks asked me what they should start with I think I would send them to this clip. He is at his best and he looks like he's enjoying himself. Very relaxed vibe. Maybe I'm partial to a guy in dungarees and t-shirt because I'm thinking Bill is super cute here too.
1000 thanks for uploading these shows! as others have pointed out, he basically only had one pitch, but no matter how many times you watch it, we get to know mr Hicks a little bit more. funniest comedian of all time.
Bill Hicks was mind blowing. I will never understand why he was taken from earth at such a young age. He was so intelligent. I consider him not only a comedian but a profit. Bill said it himself, in his Life Is a Ride speech. All the good people taken away.
Thank you so much for this, I can't believe I just found the full video of this show. I've been searching everywhere for a particular bit that Bill did about Van Gogh (I think this is the right one). It leads into him (imitating the girl) saying "I told him we could still be friends!" Guy: "we were never friends..." The clip used to be on youtube and was one of my favorites but it's gone now and I haven't found that specific version (the one with the "we were never friends" part) since then :(. It went along perfect with the bit from this show about the Garden of Eden, damn it! I swear I've listened to every album he has and watched every show I could find on video and still haven't found the damn thing. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'd be eternally grateful for some help finding it
Every time I watch one of these, another bit of source material for Leary's "No Cure For Cancer" reveals itself. There is a special place in Hell for that guy. Hicks' Ghost 2020!
There's a video with Louis CK on the Opie and Anthony show on RU-vid where he talks about how Leary stole a bit off him too. From the way Louis CK describes it he thinks because he riffed on the premise at one point that he could then take it. It's bizarre, it sounds like he doesn't even know he's stealing material but I can't believe anyone could not be aware that's what they are doing
@@Kevtron9000If I'm not mistaken, the opening song is Crossfire by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble. SRV (like most guitarists) idolized Hendrix, so I always curious if bill ever enjoyed SRV as much as I & others do.
The intro joke from this tour (... been on the road for 10 years now....) is my fave intro joke ever: a devastatingly cynical and funny gut laugh right from the first sentence.
