I always think their riffs are super intricate and then I'll see one of them play a song and realize they're even more involved than I first thought. That arpeggio in the chorus is so cool.
Honestly , not only ate they amazing like that , they play so tight together , watching bill and Brent without a backing is insane , they are almost symbiotic , imagine putting Kirk and James together to play blackened, they wouldn't even come close to the level of these two
So smooth. We are lucky to have all these guys shredding together in one place. Mastadon has aged very well and H&G has proven there is still more in the well. Thanks for the music!
Agree. I found this guitar on the ESP custom shop pix catalog. One off for Bill. This shape is popular in Japan, but a custom shop order only in USA. I'm a big fan of Doom/Stoner rock, and once I saw this shape, I immediately looked into it. Starts at $3,500 according to the ESP rep I talked to.
If it is your song then it is your duty to play it absolutely cleanly. That's the take a way here. If its not this clean you can't get a good recording.
Pretty much the only tunings they use are D standard, Drop C which drops the first D to a C, and then they’ll drop the first string down to an A on some songs too.
